If you're countering the opposing school of magic, you treat the incoming spell as if it were one circle more potent than it actually is.

Which incidentally means that no-one can Counter a Solar-Circle Spell but a Solar and no-one can Counter a Void-Circle spell but a Deathlord or an Abyssal.

Or a Celestial using the Mantle of Bridgid or other similar effects ...

Or a Sidereal Martial Artist using Spell Shattering Palm.

Or an Infernal Exalted like Dukantha from Blood and Salt.

hmm. Actually there seeem to be lots of beings that can counter Solar Circle Sorcery. Possibly more than the number of Solars that can cast Solar Circle Sorcery.

Hmm, based on my assumptions there are approximatly 25 Solar level sorcerers in creation, as most solars are not sorcerers and only solars can reach that level, likewise there are approximatly 50 Void level necromancers, thanks to the deathlords having all that knowledge, additionally we can assume perhaps 20 Infernal sorcerers of about the same strength, like Dukantha. On people that can counter it we have the individuals that can cast the spells being capable of countering it plus the approximatly 30 sidereals who know Spell Shattering Palm and a theoritical 1 celestial exalt with the Mantle of Brigid, which was last seem adorning the Scarlet Empress' Shoulders, so while you assumption is true that there are more people who can stop a top teir spell than can cast it we are still talking about a group of 100 people who could cast or stop any given spell, this is a tiny number when compared to the many exalts who can not stop the spell via charm or sorcery. - Blackedout appolagizes for the rant, not all that good at formating my thoughts.
