I love the Melee ability.

Fury Strike

  • Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Simple:
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 4
  • Prerequisite: Fire and Stones Strike

The Exalt charges her weapon with Essence, driving it towards its target, straight and true. The character may then roll for extra successes, which may be negated, by dodging or parrying, but the attack will always strike its target, thus a damage roll will always be made. This is a perfect attack.

Savage Solar Ire

  • Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Extra Action
  • Minimum Melee: 6
  • Minimum Essence: 6
  • Prerequisite: Fury Strike, Iron Whirlwind Attack

The Exalt becomes entirely aware of how to strike many times and never miss. Like Iron Whirlwind Attack, she may make up to her Dexterity in extra actions, which may be rolled for extra successes. As with Fury Strike, these extra successes may be negated but damage will always be rolled.

Glorious Solar Staff of Office:

  • Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: One Scene
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 3
  • Prerequisite: Glorious Solar Saber

Like Glorious Solar Saber, the character can never be disarmed. She focuses her Essence into a gleaming staff (though other forms are certainly acceptable) and calls upon the favor of the Unconquered Sun (Charisma + Performance). During the day the difficulty is standard, at night, in a shadowland or in the Underworld, the difficulty is at +3. The end of the staff (or blade if the player so chooses) resonates with pure Solar power and the character adds her Essence to all attacks against Creatures of Darkness, Abyssal Exalted and Deathlords. The statistics of the weapon are 2x Melee score spread across Speed, Accuracy, Defense and Damage as the player sees fit.

Tide Breaking Stance

  • Cost: 3 motes
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee: 4
  • Minimum Essence: 2
  • Prerequisite: Dipping Swallow Defense

As the waves crash futilely against a cliff, so too does the attacks of her lessers come to nothing against the solar armed with this charm. She may block any attack without the need to roll. This is not a perfect defense.

Golden Rampart Block

  • Cost: 6 motes
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 2
  • Prerequisite: Tide Breaking Stance

The Exalt may block, without needing to roll, any parryable attack. This means that it can anything not specifically noted as being unblockable. This is a perfect, non-universally applicable parry. It can stop Accuracy without Distance, but not Unobstructed Blow.

Barring the Gates of Heaven

  • Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: One Turn
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 5
  • Prerequisites: Heavenly Guardian Defense

For the rest of the turn, the Exalt may perfectly defend any attacks that come at her, even attacks she could not normally parry, as per the effects of Heavenly Guardian Defense. However, she must stay in a defensive stance and may not take another dice action for the rest of the turn.

Bearer of the Swifter Sword

  • Cost: 3 motes
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee:2
  • Minimum Essence:2
  • Prerequisite: None

The character invoking Bearer of the Swifter Sword knows just how to channel Essence into her blade so that he may strike faster and swifter than his foe. For 3 motes he may add his Melee Ability to his initiative total.

Blade-Breaking Attack

  • Cost:5 motes
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Melee:4
  • Minimum Essence:3
  • Prerequisite: Bearer of the Swifter Sword

The Exalt makes a Melee attack as normal. If it is successful, they may turn their damage roll into a blow to the target's weapon. If at least 3 successes are made on the damage roll, the sword breaks. Weapons made of one of the Five Magical Materials require ten successes to break, and cannot be broken by a sword made of mundane material. Weapons made of Essence cannot break.

Army-Cutting Attack

  • Cost: 1 mote per target + 3 motes per attack, 1 willpower
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Extra Action
  • Minimum Melee:5
  • Minimum Essence:4
  • Prerequisite: Blade-breaking attack, Peony Blossom Attack

The Exalt charges forward, powered by the Essence within her. She then unleashes a hail of blows upon her targets. She may opt to attack as many opponents as she has dots in Melee, and may buy as many attacks as she has dots in Essence, or as many as she can pay for. Characters may not split their dice pool the turn they use Army-Cutting Attack. Army-Cutting Attack cannot be used for defense, so a combo with a defensive charm or the activation of a persistent defense is recommended.

Absolute Strike of the Peerless Hero

  • Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower, 1 health level
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 5
  • Prerequisite: Army-Cutting Attack

With the supple, absolute perfection of a hero without peer, the Exalt using this charm charges her weapon with Essence and drives it forward, straight and true. The player may roll for extra successes, which may be negated, but the damage will always be rolled. In addition, the strike ignores hardness and halves armor's soak.

Thousand Directions Dragon

  • Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: One Scene
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 3
  • Prerequisite: Ready In Eight Directions Stance

This charm allows the character to counterattack all things that come at her for the rest of the scene. As with Solar Counterattack, Thousand Directions Dragon comes after the opponent’s attack roll but before damage effects are applied. Thousand Directions Dragon in no way mitigates the effects of the attack. A character cannot use Thousand Directions Dragon in response to any counterattack charm.

Vengeful Deity Maneuver

  • Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: One Scene
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee: 5
  • Minimum Essence: 5
  • Prerequisite: Thousand Directions Dragon

With this charm, the Exalt can parry and counterattack for the rest of the scene. However, the counterattack adds the attacker’s extra successes as automatic successes. This can only be used with a single weapon, and the counterattack cannot be used in response to any counterattack charm.

Perfection of the Masterful Swordsman

  • Cost: 15 motes, 1 willpower
  • Duration: One Scene
  • Type: Reflexive
  • Minimum Melee: 6
  • Minimum Essence: 6
  • Prerequisite: Vengeful Deity Maneuver

As the Meleeist understands perfectly the flows of Essence, thus she understands how to apply them to battle. For the rest of the scene, she may parry any sort of incoming attack, and may reflexively respond with a mighty counterattack. She may reflexively spend 3 motes and 1 willpower to make any of her parries perfect (this must be declared beforehand) or 5 motes and 1 willpower to make a perfect counterattack. Anything blocked with a perfect block stops with no harm to the character. The counterattack cannot be used in response to any counterattack charm.

Unending Unrelenting Innumerable Striking Style

  • Cost: 20 motes, 2 wp
  • Duration: One Scene
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Melee: 7
  • Minimum Essence: 7
  • Prerequisite: Perfection of the Masterful Swordsman

Activation of this charm is Simple, however, after activation of the charm the Exalt may reflexively attack as many times as possible until either stopped or until her targets are all dead. This is a persistent attack.
