Drunken Warrior Style

Drunken Warrior Style is a dynamic form of martial arts that is meant to appear erratic and unpredictable to those who witness it in action. For the most skilled practitioners of this style of martial arts all of the Drunken Warrior Stylist’s successes seem to occur by pure happenstance. Dragon-Blooded are said to practice a lesser form of this style known as the Crimson Petal Style, but the true masters are the Chosen of Venus who know this style as the Cerulean Rhythm of Joy.

Form weapons for Drunken Warrior Style are staves, but most practitioners go completely unarmed, while masters of the style are capable of using almost anything they can get their hands on as a weapon.

Irrational Warrior Prana / Ever-Changing Cerulean Melody:

Cost: 3m; Mins: Martial Arts 3, Essence 1; Type: Supplemental

Keywords: Combo-Ok

Duration: Instant

Prerequisite Charms: None

The first thing a practitioner of Drunken Warrior style learns is to obfuscate his moves in such a way that his actions appear purposeless, unpredictable and erratic. Any attack enhanced with this Charm reduces the target’s Defense Values by 2 for the purpose of avoiding the Drunken Warrior’s attack.
Rolling Wind Kata / Harmony of Bending Reeds:

Cost: 3m; Mins: Martial Arts 3, Essence 2; Type: Reflexive (Step 2)

Keywords: Combo-Ok, Obvious

Duration: Instant

Prerequisite Charm: Irrational Warrior Prana

When the Martial Artist is successfully struck by a hand-to-hand attack he may activate this Charm to roll with the blow, reducing the force of the attack and the damage inflicted as a result. If the attack inflicts Bashing Damage, Rolling Wind Kata grants the Martial Artist a Hardness versus the attack equal to his Stamina + Martial Arts. If the attack inflicts Lethal Damage the Drunken Warrior gains the ability to soak the damage with his full Bashing Soak.
Drunken Warrior Form / Cerulean Rhythm of Joy Form:

Cost: 6 motes; Mins: Martial Arts 4, Minimum Essence 2; Type: Simple (Speed 4)

Keywords: Form-type, Obvious

Duration: One scene

Prerequisite Charms: Rolling Wind Kata

Once this Charm is invoked the Martial Artist is able to sense the flows of essence generated by battle, becoming preternaturally aware of all of the consequences of his own actions and the actions of his opponents. While this Charm is active the Drunken Warrior may ignore all Knockdown and Knockback effects. Anytime he appears to fall, he always twists in such a way that he manages to regain his feet in a matter of moments. In addition the Drunken Warrior gains a bonus to his Martial Arts Attacks equal to his permanent Essence and reduces all of his DV penalties, including those imposed by Wound Penalties, Onslaught and Coordinated attacks by half, rounding up, before comparing his Defense Values to an attack to see whether it succeeds or fails.
Drunken-Step Footwork / Confusing Sapphire Step:

Cost: 1m; Mins: Martial Arts 4, Essence 2; Type: Reflexive (Step 2)

Keywords: Combo-Ok

Duration: Until next action

Prerequisite Charm: Drunken Warrior Form

Until the Drunken Warrior’s next action anyone attacking or attacked by the Drunken Warrior Stylist must make a reflexive Dexterity + Athletics roll at an internal penalty equal to the Drunken Warrior Stylist’s Martial Arts or suffer knockdown due to being tripped up by the Drunken Warrior’s erratic footwork and flailing movements.
Inebriated Fool Defense / Serene Sapphire Attitude:

Cost: 2m; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental

Keywords: Combo-Ok

Duration: Until next action

Prerequisite Charm: Drunken-Step Footwork

While the Drunken Warrior’s moves appear erratic and he appears to leave himself wide open to attack more often then not, most of these are false openings meant to tempt the attacker. Inebriated Fool Defense must supplement a Martial Arts attack roll. Every two successes on an attack roll enhanced with this Charm adds +1 to the Drunken Warrior’s Martial Arts Defense Value until his next action. As usual, the bonuses provided by this Charm may not increase the Drunken Warrior’s Defense Values by more then half of either his (Dexterity + Dodge) or (Dexterity + Martial Arts) as appropriate.
Barroom Brawler Prana / Dance of Seven Serene Partners:

Cost: 1 mote per opponent; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 2; Type: Reflexive (Step 2)

Keywords: Obvious

Duration: One tick

Prerequisite Charm: Drunken-Step Footwork

Practitioners of the Drunken Warrior Style are known for being fearless in the face of adversity, even when assaulted on all sides by multiple opponents. This Charm may only be invoked if multiple opponents are attacking the Drunken Warrior on the same tick. Once the Charm is invoked everyone attacking the Drunken Warrior stylist suffers a –1 External Penalty on his attack for each other opponent who has declared an attack against the Drunken Warrior stylist that tick.
Kitchen Kata Style / Cerulean Arsenal Concentration:

Cost: 4 motes; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 2; Type: Simple (Speed 3)

Keywords: Combo-Ok

Duration: One scene

Prerequisite Charm: Drunken Warrior Form

In the hands of a practitioner of Drunken Warrior Style any object can be a handy weapon. For the rest of the scene, the Drunken Warrior may treat any object he is holding as a martial arts weapon no matter what it is. In addition any weapon he holds with a negative Attack or Defense modifier is considered to have an Attack or Defense modifier of 0 instead. Any actual martial arts weapon the Drunken Warrior wields gains a +1 Attack and Defense bonus in the martial artist’s hands while this Charm is active.
Alcoholic Blow / Cerulean Lotus Strike:

Cost: 2m; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 3; Type: Supplemental

Keywords: Combo-Ok, Obvious, Crippling

Duration: Instant

Prerequisite Charm: Kitchen Kata Style

While all of a Drunken Warrior’s moves are intended to confuse and keep his opponent off guard, skilled opponents can often still see through a Drunken Warrior’s subterfuge. As a result, this technique was developed to cause not only the Drunken Warrior’s movements to be disorienting, but also the very blows he strikes. Once the Drunken Warrior makes contact with his opponent, the victim’s mind is instantly assaulted by a haze of euphoric essence that briefly causes a moment of intense bliss, then quickly fades away leaving behind nausea, blurred vision and a piercing headache.

Any successful unarmed attack enhanced with Alcoholic Blow forces the target to make a Stamina + Resistance roll at a difficulty of the Drunken Warrior’s permanent Essence even if no damage is inflicted by the attack. If the roll fails, the target suffers a –3 Internal penalty on all actions for the next 10 ticks. Automata and undead are immune to the effects of this Charm.
Drunken Master Attitude / Mastery of the Cerulean Lotus:

Cost: 6m; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 4; Type: Simple (Speed 5)

Keywords: Combo-Ok

Duration: One scene

Prerequisite Charms: Alcoholic Blow, Barroom Brawler Prana, Inebriated Fool Defense

Masters of Drunken Warrior Style are capable of effortlessly flowing in and out of the rhythm of battle, but their true accomplishment is learning to effectively disrupt that rhythm for others. As the Drunken Master whirls among his opponents he always seems to be in the worst possible spot to make an attack. Furniture, other opponents and even a warrior’s own weapon seem to be in the way and that’s only when an opponent can keep his eye on his target.

Once invoked, all attacks against the Drunken Warrior Stylist suffer an internal penalty equal to (the Drunken Master’s Martial Arts + Essence – the opponent’s Wits,) minimum of 0. This cannot reduce a given opponent’s attack pool to less then the attacker’s permanent Essence.
