Hidden Leaf Style

As my knack for such continues this Style is really inspired by the manga/anime Naruto, it's all about ninjas and training kids to be Shinobi, but the more than use their Jutsu the more I'm seeing them as Charms. The more the individuals or groups learn and the more that is revealed the more I end up trying to mentally port them over, so I figured I would. And if it bombs I'll know what varied abilities are more better suited elsewhere, but boy howdy am I gonna try. I'm even gonna use the MA Guide, cause it can't hurt, right? XD My only problem is I've got to figure out the core of the training beyond 'Chakra control' otherwise it just won't make sense I think. A leaf can't do much, much less a hidden leaf. Anyone who wants to comment please do so, more than anything I want the style to be good or at least enjoyable.

Hidden Leaf Style Fundamentals

As Shinobi training the style would/should focus on being unseen or easily overlooked. Being numerous as leaves are I think it might be worthwhile to make it a Terrestrial level Style, but we'll see. Let's break down the words into base objects/ideas/thoughts. Hidden is pretty self explanatory, but Leaf can be expanded upon.

  • Leaf
    • Numerous to the Extreme
    • Constantly renewing
    • Grouped together they can block out the sun and weather
    • Single leaves are lost against the backdrop of many
    • They are razor sharp.. err that's Pokemon. heh.

Based upon such (and the inspiration) I can say many could learn and go on to teach such, teamwork is essential but a single can work on its own to achieve goals. This alone could gear it to be Terrestrial as the first two are concepts they are used to, while the third could be used to describe how most see themselves. As I don't know Dragon-Blooded charms so well I'll yet hold off on saying that's what power I'll shoot for right now. Though it would certainly seem most fitting.

Basic Techniques

In the anime/manga all learning students were taught basic sets of jutsu to progress themselves further towards their training. There was basic chakra control to being able to untie yourself, making illusionary copies of your form to copying someone/thing else's. Basic charms could run along the lines of.

  • Increased difficulty for clinches/automatic successes towards resisting
  • Increased difficulty for those attacking or ease of dodging
  • Ease of hiding or evading hunters.

The 'Chakra' control I want to include before the Form, ideally as the first charm, but I've never been able to reason out a good power for it since in the manga/anime Chakra control has a wide variety of effects. Depending on how it was channelled through the body and harmonized it allowed the characters to walk up trees, tread over water, grab items with parts other than your hand, released as a shockwave, etc. Some of the effects could be dropped (the shockwave for sure, it was a special moment when it actually happened) but others I would really like to include, but it makes it so much like other, pre-existing charms. The only way I could see it working would be a variable cost/variable turn charm with varied applications (obviously). One of the cooler applications was when one of the main characters used his chakra to 'grab' a throwing knife with the bottom of his foot and threw it with a kick. There are other applications I'd like to include, but the scope of the Charm I don't think should be so wide, stuff like speed increases to kicks or punches or accuracy of throw weapons/rate bypass or defense bonuses to melee. This would nearly be the only attack charm at that rate though, as I do not think mere control of Essence should help improve the body so much at such a low level, such as increased speed/leaping ability as well. Too many options I think. Comments here would be greatly appreciated as I've roadblocked on it in my own mind.

Hidden Leaf Form

We'll get back to this later... going to focus on basic techniques and get them down first. Oh yes.
