Lotus Blossom Style

By Jydan

I'd like to take the time here to thank whoever put this on the wiki for me (so I can continue to be very lazy). This style can be used with the Straight Sword or a weighted fighting ribbon (use the stats for a fighting chain).

Charms

Beautiful Blossom Dance

Cost: 5
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3

The blossom of the Lotus flower can hypnotize an onlooker with it's beauty. So can the character do the same to it's onlookers.

System: Make a Perform + Appearance roll vs. target's permanent Essence. If you succeed, target is hypnotized for a number of turns equal to the number of your extra successes, and is unable to act except waked up by a shock (like damage) or a friend. You must actually dance all the time the target will be hypnotized.

You may stop the dance at any time, but it will break the charm. When the duration ends, you may continue to dance, but you must activate the charm again. If you successfully do, the effect continues from the last attempt on. You can make no other actions while you are dancing.

This charm has no effect on the Undead, Golem, Demons, Automata and other beings up to the Storyteller's discretion. This charm is incompatable with the use of armor.

Peaceful Lotus Stance

Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Until broken
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Beautiful Blossom Dance

Heaven smiles upon the Lotus, the symbol of peace. This charm allows the character to draw on this peaceful nature.

System: The player who activates this charm makes a Appearance +Performance roll, and all opposing players make a Willpower roll. Those opponents who achieve less successes than the defending player cannot attack the character. The character can make no actions other than charms. This charm has no effect on the Undead, Goldem, Demons, Automata and other beings up to the Storyteller's discretion. This charm is incompatable with the use of armor. Endurance + Stamina rolls may be required to keep up an especially lenghty performance.

Wind Carrying Lotus Petals

Cost: 2
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min. Martial Arts: 2
Min. Essence: 1

The beauty of the Lotus springs forward, and so do beautiful Exalts who use this charm.

System: If activated before inititive, the character may add their Appearance Attribute to their Inititive roll for that turn. This Charm can be used only once to augument a given initiative roll.

Petal Foot Avoidance Dance

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One turn
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 3
Min. Essence: 1
Prereqs: Wind Carrying Lotus Petals

Like the petals of the lotus dance in the wind, the feet of an exalt move to avoid blows.

System: A character using this charm declares Full Dodge at the beginning of the turn, and can add their Performance to their dodge attempts as long as they remain dancing and only works on attacks the character is aware of. If at anytime the character stops dancing, the effects of the charm end. This charm can only be used in conjuntion with Full Dodge. It is incompatable with the use of armor.

Lotus Blossom Form

Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 2
Prereqs: Petal Foot Avoidance Dance

The delicate Lotus Blossom floats atop the water without a care in the world, dancing in the wind above the water. The Exalt emulates this form in this charm, giving him a pertenatural grace to avoid and block blows.

System: The Exalt adds their Martial Arts to any Parry or Dodge attempt so long as they fight bare handed or with Martial Arts weapons. Their armed attacks attacks also do lethal OR bashing damage, and they can parry lethal damage unarmed without a stunt. The character may add their Essence score to their soak. Characters cannot use more than one Martial Arts Form-type Charm at a time. Activating another Form Charm immediately negates the effects of the first. This charm is incompatible with the use of armor.

Closed Petal Stance

Cost: 5
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Lotus Blossom Form

At night, the lotus blossom closes, just as the character's defense's close when the Sun is obscured by the shadows of an attack. The character draws up their arms and weapons in a protective stance to block the opponent's attack.

System: The character can abort to a cascading parry, and can parry lethal damage unarmed. This ability may be used only once each turn. This charm only affects attacks the character is aware of.

Shining Petal Defense

Cost: 6 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Closed Petal Stance

Floating on the water, the petals of the lotus shine in the sunlight, relfecting it's light back into the sky. A dancer emulates this, reflecting attacks to their attacker.

System: The character makes a reflexive parry roll, and if successful, the attacker deals his base damage (without any extra successes on the attack roll) to himself, instead of the character.

Open Petal Stance

Cost: 6
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Lotus Blossom Form

During the day, the Lotus Blossom opens in a display of great beauty. The exalt stands to distract their attackers with their great beauty and charm.

System: The Exalt rolls their Appearance + Martial Arts against a difficulty of the opponent's Essence. If the roll succeeds, the character can make an attack against the target. The target suffers a penalty to their dodge/parry pool equal to the number of extra successes on the first roll . This charm cannot be used with any dice adders.

Swirling Petal Prana

Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One turn per point of permanent essence
Type: Reflexive
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Open Petal Stance

When the many petals on a lotus blossom fall off and blow in the wind, they can distract those who behold them. The Exalt uses a similar principle, attacking with many quick blows, not intended to harm, but to distract.

System: When the character is attacked, the character may make an automatic counterattack. This counterattack does no damage, instead, it inflicts a number of -1 penalties to the attacker's actions the effect lasts the character's Essence in turns.

Thousand Petals Unfold

Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Swirling Petal Prana, Peaceful Lotus Stance, Shining Petal Defense

The final charm in the cascade, this charm represents a mastery in the art of peacefully standing against an opponent. The character can finally attack to break the Opponent's will to enact violence.

System: Anytime some attacks the character, the Martial Artist counterattacks them with her full Dexterity + Martial Art pull. This doesn't work against other counterattack.

Quiet of the Spinning Lotus

Cost: 7 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 4
Prereqs: Thousand Petals Unfold

The character makes an attack, that targets not the opponent's body, but his mind. Her graceful movements hits softly and without harm the nevralgic points of his body that nurture his agressivity and will to fight to rend him passive and discouraged.

System: Roll Appearance + Martial Arts against the attacker's Willpower. Each success drains 1 WP and if their Willpower is reduced to zero they don't fight anymore for your Essence times minutes, at which point there Willpower is recovered. If the opponent is attacked anew, he also recovers his willpower.
