Introduction

From the streets of Chiaroscuro, people were amassing, a noise crowd of men and rare women were trying to fit in the small, smoke-filled room. Suddenly a single note of music filled the air, and everyone become silent and still.

She walked on the scene and began dancing. She was like the wind, bending, jumping, whirling, falling in a graceful figure, then standing once more, her veils and loose clothes following her every move like an echo of their beauty. She was fast, and she was everywhere at once, lithe like quicksilver. It was quickly over, and the people were thrown out of the theatre.

Later at night, three men were waiting. When the lone beautiful dancer went out of the building, they circled her, calling out to her with rude words and encouraging each other to make the first move. One on them grappled her cloth, but she step away leaving the shimmering lace in his hand.

She merely smiled, and jumped high. When she fell, two twin hook swords were in her hands, and she began dancing with them. She was fast, and she was everywhere at once, lithe like quicksilver. It was quickly over.

Gracefuly, the dancer walked away from the three corpses.

Symbology : vivacity, agility, beauty, visual acuity

Hindu tradition associates the gazelle with Vâyù, the lord of the element air, the wind, as well as with the yogini Vayugegâ (=Fast like the wind)

The semitic people are touched by the beauty, the grace of the animal, and especially her eyes. The Houri of the muslim paradise are described as having gazelle's eyes. In the Song of Solomon, the spouse is described as being alike a gazelle.

At last many art work presents the gazelle falling prey to a beast, most often a lion, which covers her before cutting her throat. The spiritual ideal destroyed by the destructive forces represented by the beast.

I've cheated. The gazelle is the beautiful young woman, innocent and graceful, who falls prey to the beast (who like the Big Bad Wolf represents sexual forces). It's a figure of a prey, a tragic victim. I've made her into Buffy. Not a demon slayer, but the petite blonde who's supposed to die in the end of scene 3, suddenly turning around and proceading to kick the monster's ass.

Well, why not ?

Gazelle are also associated with quickness and agility, and that she is. Give her a few combos, and nobody should be able to gain her the initiative.

I also wanted to play with the idea of horns as swords, hence the hook swords.
