Infernal Circle of the Ebon Dragon

Dawn caste Infernal

Name: Creation’s woeful bane (Bane for short, Garl Stonecrusher as a mortal)

Nature: Infernal Paragon - You are as the Yozis, a champion of revenge and suffering. You delight in what you have become, and further the interests of your masters without need for demand for their wishes are your own. You inspire fear and love in those you meet, work incessantly toward bettering your situation, and are quick to respond to any slight against your person. You are cruel to those you can be cruel to, and obliging to those you can't. You never forget a grudge, and delight in the perversion and corruption of all things. You are an arch villain without peer, and all best remember that. No doubt such unmitigated evil will draw great attention to you. Gain Willpower whenever you bring suffering to Heaven or further the cause of the Yozis

Concept: Heartless barbarian tribe leader

Backstory: As a young man Garl was a barbarian of the northern mountains. His prowess in war was unequaled. Unfortunately his cruelty and temper were unmatched as well. He was the leader of his tribe of warriors and would regularly lead them out in unauthorized raids of caravans and even razing a few towns and even a small city in the north. This disrespect and disobedience did not sit well with the chieftain of his tribe and the shaman drew many ill omens concerning Garl’s fate. They only real difficulty was Garl’s popularity; he was loved by all the young warriors of the tribe for his perfection in sword play and his unbending valor. One day the chieftain and shaman concocted a plan to kill the young warrior. The shaman brewed a poison that when ingested would cause life threatening seizures hours after the fact and even if Garl survived that he would never be able to walk or speak again. The appointed night of the assassination came about and the shaman poured a vial of the poison into Garl’s mead. Garl went to take a deep swig of the poison and smelled a faint scent of it. Garl, instead of getting mad and killing everyone around him, decided on a bold plan. He stood up in front of the entire tribe and spoke, “My beloved tribesmen! This is a day of much celebration. You all know of the discontent between our chieftain and I; we have decided to reconcile our differences and rule this tribe as equals!” The roar of the crowd was deafening. The poor chieftain did not know what he was going to do; he was awestruck. “And in honor of this new partnership I offer the first drink of the evening to our gracious host, our chieftain.” He turned to the chieftain with an evil glint in his eye and offered him the poisoned mug. The chieftain was stuck, if he didn’t drink the offered mug then he would be viewed as dishonorable and probably lose control of the tribe to Garl. If he did drink it, the older man would surely die. The chieftain seized the mug locking eyes with Garl and, trusting in fate as his tribe has done for centuries, he downed the mug to a cheering crowd. Later that night the chieftain died of the horrible convulsions that rocked his body. Garl moved to the chieftain’s place and had complete control over the tribe. The first order of business was to get rid of the plotting shaman. He concocted a story that the shaman had poisoned the chieftain for not allowing him to have more sway over the tribe. He was promptly lynched and burned alive at the stake. Garl’s next order of business was to declare war on all who opposed him. The tribe grew more and more warlike with every week. They abandoned their ancestral home to conquer a kingdom in “The name of their ancestors.” This campaign went smoothly until Garl and his army tried to invade a city called Diamond’s Edge which is east of crystal. Their siege lasted for weeks with neither side giving much ground. One day a dark stranger came to Garl with a proposition; he would give Garl Diamond’s Edge in exchange for his oath of fealty which would grant Garl unimaginable power. Garl did not believe the stranger would hold to his word but the temptation of ultimate power was too much for the warlike barbarian so he struck the deal. Immediately over 200 1st circle demons erupted out of the ground and swarmed Diamond’s Edge and broke the siege. Garl and his tribe entered into the city and killed its inhabitants to a child. After Garl had settled in his new kingdom the stranger came forward once again. “You have your kingdom Garl Stonecrusher, now you must swear your oath.” Rightly fearing the power that this stranger could bring to bear he went to one knee and swore his loyalty and that of his tribe. As he finished the oath a black cloud emanated from the stranger to encompass every member of Garl’s tribe and tainted them with death essence. (This effectively transformed 100 warriors into heroic mortals, 300 tribesmen into elite extras, and awakened 10 of his wise men’s essence and opened the doorway for thaumaturgy to them.) Every last member of his tribe became devout Yozi worshippers and Garl was brought to Malfeas where he was transformed into a Dawn caste Infernal. He now rules the circle and his tribe with an iron mailed fist.

Zenith Caste Infernal

Name: Ironbound Will of the Void

Nature: Cynic People are hopeless fools, and the sooner they realize this better. The faster you can dim their hopes and show them the error of their ways, the faster they will realize your way of thinking. Your words are designed to hurt and belittle rather than help and you are proud of it. Gain Willpower whenever you undermine someone by pointing out their weaknesses

Concept: Vengeful warrior

Backstory: As a young boy Ledaal Junta dreamed of becoming a mighty dragon blooded like his grandfather. As he grew up he was inducted into the best schools on the blessed isles and he trained in martial arts almost to the exclusion of all other subjects. As he grew older and many of his friends had exalted into DBs he started to doubt himself. This self doubt turned to hate. Hate for the DBs and hate for the elemental dragons who thought he was unworthy. On his 18th birthday the day he would be shuffled off into some unimportant bureaucratic position, he ran away after sabotaging his own families home manse to the point where it shut down completely and required months of work to correct it. In the midst of the chaos he created he left a letter stating that he was declaring himself an enemy of the realm and all it stands for. He ran off to the scavenger lands where he made a living as a mercenary for awhile, all the while he was looking for a way to gain power so he could defeat his enemies. One day he stumbled upon an infernal cult who summoned a demon. This was purely by accident as he was roving the country side looking for a likely place to rest for the night and stumbled upon their site. When they saw him the Yozi worshippers asked the demon to show this mercenary what true demonic power was all about. The demon laughed and said if you defeat him I will perform your one service you had asked. The infernalists quickly surrounded Junta and they attacked him as a unified group. To a man Junta killed every last one in the most vicious way possible, one his throat was ripped out using his bare hands, another had each limb dislocated and left for dead, another had a crushed windpipe and left to suffer until he suffocated, the next he ripped his tongue out with his bare hands then broke his jaw so he drowned on his own blood, and the final infernalist Junta stabbed out both his eyes then broke his legs so he would be sliding on the ground as a blinded and impotent snake. The demon was impressed. He asked Junta what he craved more than anything. “Power, power to destroy my enemies.” The demon laughed a loud and sickly sound and grabbed Junta and wrenched him down to see his new master…

You actively delight in seeing people endure suffering and having a hand in the dissolution of their achievements. Such a vicious temperament often brings you into conflict with others. He is the one who was charge by the Ebon Dragon to collect a circle worthy of his blessings. Scholar is the only one in the group who is not a true infernal. He began as a twilight solar who thirsted for power and sold his soul to the Ebon Dragon. He may now summon an army of 1st circle demons for 50 motes and has the ability to sanctify oaths to the Ebon Dragon and grant a certain modicum of power. He is the current favorite of the Ebon Dragon.

Night Caste Infernal

Name: Whispering Oblivion Silhouette Master

Gain Willpower whenever your actions bring ruin to the hard and long works of others.

Concept: Cold Assassin

Backstory: A very sad and lonely man who hardly ever spoke a word. He grew up in one of the myriad nations of the Scavenger Lands. His family was poor so the children took to stealing what they could. Jinsa was the youngest in a family of 8 so even his leavings were pitiful. By the age of 12 he ran away to live in nexus. His complete anti-social nature made life even more difficult there. By some luck he was discovered by a guild enforcer who took pity on the young whelp and took him in. His pity had an ulterior motive; the guild was putting out a handsome reward for trained assassins. So his adoptive father by the name of Granth started to train the young boy how to kill men. By the tender age of 16 Jinsa was an extremely athletic young man with a strong aptitude for the martial arts. He became one of the most notorious mortal assassins working for the Guild. He would not only kill his mark, but before the mark came the ruination of their lives then the death of their loved ones then their came the final release of death for the mark. He was content with this life until one day he was ordered to kill Granth. He gladly did the kill because such things were his job and he had a reputation to consider. Once that was over he declared war on the guild. He killed his handlers, their handlers, every other assassin that came for him (including 2 outcastes) and finally he made his way one death at a time until he found the man who had ordered Granth’s death. This man was a rich merchant prince who had stepped in front of Granth and Granth had accidentally stepped on his boot. Jinsa killed everyone who the prince had ever cared for starting with his pets, to business associates, friends, cousins, siblings, lovers, wife, and children. He sabotaged every single business the prince owned or invested in and soon the prince was bankrupt and alone left on the street like a common beggar. Jinsa walked up to his dirty emaciated form huddling in an alleyway and said, “I hope you have learned a lesson about humility you waste of flesh. Hopefully death will just bring you more pain.” And before the man could respond Jinsa struck him with a single finger at the temple which sunk in to the knuckle. And Jinsa moved on as the filthy beggar prince convulsed and died a beggar’s death. As Jinsa left the alley way he heard a slow and steady clapping from near the body. He spun about to find a man in all black leather standing next to the body. “Nice, I like your style kid. You want a chance to really use your skills?”
