Performance

This tree uses the Acceptable Influence Methodology rules.

Atmosphere

Mood-Inducing Music

While the Solar is performing, everyone witnessing the performance are automatically inspired with a single Minor Emotion of the Solar’s choosing. This Charm ends immediately if the Solar stops performing.

Battle-Dancer Method

While the Solar is performing, they may add their Essence to their Parry, Evasion, and Resolve. If they interrupt their performance in any way (usually, any non-reflexive actions), they lose this bonus.

Unmatched Showmanship Style

An action supplemented by this Charm does not interrupt a Solar’s ongoing performance; instead, it seems part of the display.

Shedding Infinite Radiance

  • Prereqs: Mood-Inducing Music

The Solar invokes one of their Intimacies in an oration to a single target, then makes a (Social Attribute)+Performance roll. The recipient gains a pool of banked bonus dice equal to the Solar’s successes, which can only be used in service of that Intimacy.

The Solar may end Mood-Inducing Music prematurely to suddenly focus on one character - for one action, the Minor Emotion provided by Mood-Inducing Music is considered a Major Emotion instead.

When using Mood-Inducing Music in battle to inspire a positive Emotion, the Solar may make a Simple action each round to make a (Social Attribute)+Performance roll. The successes are gained as points of bonus Initiative, distributed as the Solar pleases between them and their allies.

Soul-Stirring Cantata

When using Solar Battle Anthem, the Solar’s successes are also gained as bonus motes, distributed in the same way.

Heroism-Encouraging Ballad

When using Solar Battle Anthem, the Solar and their allies are immune to threaten attempts.

Empowering Shout

The Solar may end Solar Battle Anthem prematurely to add the successes from their last Performance roll as bonus dice to an ally’s action.

The Solar may use Empowering Shout once per round, without ending Solar Battle Anthem.

Perfect Harmony Technique

This influence attempt ignores penalties due to environmental factors, such as having a loud environment or being inappropriate for the circumstances.

Phantom-Conjuring Performance

The Solar may conjure illusions when using Perfect Harmony Technique, making it obviously supernatural in nature. If they do, any stunt die awarded count as automatic successes instead.

Pivotal Encore Performance

  • Prereqs: Phantom-Conjuring Performance

The Solar may immediately use Phantom-Conjuring Performance to immediately reattempt influence, even if the circumstances have not changed.

Mimicry

Cunning Mimicry Technique

For the duration of this influence attempt, the Solar may imitate another person or animal (that they have listened to for at least an hour) perfectly. If the listener has no way of seeing through the deception, treat the influence as having come from the person mimicked for the purposes of triggering Intimacies.

Voice-Hurling Method

  • Prereqs: Cunning Mimicry Technique

The Solar may throw their voice, so that it appears to be coming anywhere within short range. If speaking while hidden, treat them as not having spoken at all for the purposes of detection.

Most Excellent Mockingbird

When the Solar uses Cunning Mimicry Technique, they may continue to impersonate the same subject for the remainder of the scene. If they wish to switch voices (besides their own), they must reactivate the Charm to do so.

Splendid Magpie Approach

The Solar may use Cunning Mimicry Technique to impersonate someone or something that they have heard for only a few seconds.

Passion

Soul-Firing Performance

This inspire attempt, if successful, instead creates a Major Tie of that emotion toward a specific subject of the Solar’s choice.

When the Solar inspires an Emotion in someone, they may also impart an overwhelming urge to talk about what they associate with that Emotion. This will make their related Ties obvious, unless they are silenced before they have the opportunity to speak.

Heart-Compelling Method

This inspire attempt allows the Solar to choose the task that is necessary to absolve the Emotion, as long as it is appropriate to the subject and circumstances. This can be resisted by spending (Solar’s Essence) Willpower, allowing the subject to choose normally.

Hypnotic Tongue Technique

  • Type: Permanent

  • Prereqs: Heart-Compelling Method

When the Solar uses Heart-Compelling Method, they can choose to have their subject forget that the Solar’s influence compelled them to perform the task.

Fury-Inciting Speech

  • Type: Permanent

  • Prereqs: Heart-Compelling Method

When the Solar uses Heart-compelling Method while inspiring anger, fury, or similar, they may inspire that Emotion at Defining strength, and can compel a Life-Changing Task.

Memory-Reweaving Discipline

  • Cost: 10m, 1wp
  • Type: Supplemental
  • Mins: Performance 5, Essence 2
  • Prereqs: Soul-Firing Performance

If this instil attempt to create a factual belief is successful, it is impossible to contest that belief without direct evidence to the contrary. Even then, a successful instil attempt (to which Resolve must be applied) is required to erode the Principle.

Concerns Cast Aside

Used when someone else makes an inspire or instil roll, this allows the Solar to immediately Clash it with a Manipulation+Performance roll. If the Solar gains more successes, a seemingly-unrelated distraction breaks the flow of conversation and the influence is considered to have failed.

Sensuality

Thousand Courtesan Ways

This action to inspire lust appears, in all ways, to be another type of influence attempt (according to the Solar’s stunt). Apply Intimacies and other defences as though it were the illusory action.

Celestial Bliss Trick

The Solar makes an Appearance+Performance roll against someone they have seduced, targeting their subject’s Resolve. If successful, it instils a Defining Tie of lust toward the Solar.

Monk-Seducing Demon Dance

  • Prereqs: Celestial Bliss Trick

The Solar may use Celestial Bliss Trick on people they have not already seduced; their appearance alone is enough to incite this response.

Comments
