Varang

Official Entry [Yane] : Capital of the powerful Varang City-States, Yane is located in the Southeast. The Varang Follow a complex and rigid caste system based on the time and day of an Individual’s birth and are obssessed with astrology. Because outsiders are not part of their strict hierarchy, high-caste Varangians often attempt to use foreigners as pawns in their conflicts. The rulers of Varang believe the Realm still has a powerful destiny, and are its staunch allies.

Official Entry [The Southeast] : The Southeast has a distinctively different culture from the Central South, as it is called. Here, there are no badlands or sandy deserts, but instead, a wide and well-populated grassland where the jungle to the north peters out but the rain still falls during the wet season. The people here are settled cattle-herders, not nomads or city-dwellers, and they vigilantly guard their herds against hyenas, tyrant lizards, and cattle thieves from neighboring towns and villages.

There is some cultural interchange. The great city on the Southeast, Yane, has almost half-a-million inhabitants and is ruled by an expansive and politically adventurous Royal Family. Yet, though her walls are defended by firedust cannons, and much of the city’s grain is grown by agricutulral thralls, Yane partakes of Eastern as well as Southeastern culture and a way of life distinctly its own as well.

Southasterners have a distinct skin tone of their own, a milky chocolate distinct from the ebony Far South and mahogany Near South skin tones.Southeasterners tend strongly toward straight red or tawny hair, which is worn in a topknot(by men) or a long ponytail (by for women). Varangian men and women alike tend towards pert noses and full lips and are generally thought attractive by both Southern and Eastern eyes.

The people of the southeast sacrifice primarily to the cattle-spirits and their family patrons, but they also do honor to the ghosts of their ancestors and to predator-spirits, in hopes they will keep their children from herds. It doesn’t work very well, but any effort is better than none, as they say.

Marriage in the Southeast is seen as a lifelong partnership that only those truly in love should make. Sex outside of marriage and extramarital affairs are common and accepted as normal parts of existence, though it is considered best to keep affairs an open secret rather than a public matter. Unmarried members of the community live in two-to-five person same-sex groups, and there is no social stigma for bastardy. Men and women are considered social equals. Children trace their lineage through their mother, and if their parents were married, carry their feather’s names as well.

Inhabitants of the Southeast dress in pantaloons or wooden-soled sandals, and most women wear brassieres or simple bustiers for support.Men typically go shirtless. In formal situations or in the rare cold weather, both sexes wear wear swallowmail jackets without shirts. In times of war, Southeasterners wear thick leather breastplates and carry ox-hide and wood shields. Farvored weapons are the thrusting spear, the machete and the javelin.

Note : It is, of course, a great contradiction that it says they have royalty and yet, castes determined not by birth, but by astrology. Seems like the official position is that of nobility and royalty, but the castes determining what they would do.

Under Guindance of the Maidens

(From now on, this is purely subjected to my demented imagination)

Varangians divide themselves in rigid system of castes, organized by the position of the stars on the moment of their birth. They determine both their areas of work and their excellency. While those born on the royal family have it arranged for them to be born as auspiciously as possible, there is some interchanging between the lower ranks of society, with slaves being born to be greater, and children of middle-class receiving the mark of heavier toils, or even slavery.

The castes are usually called (Star)-Born, as in Mars-Born or Venus-Born. All have the symbol of their Maiden branded to their right palm when they come of age, what leads to some stories of Varangians who managed to confuse their astrologers of their true caste, and managed to get branded as something else. These stories, if told inside the Varangian League, tend to be sorrowful tragedies showing the futility of fighting against one’s fate and place in the natural order, although stories told, sang and written by outsiders tend to have more cheerful, speaking of liberation, but even those tend to show how one born under a maiden does receive some influence from it.

In addition to the brand, some have an intricate horoscope drawn in their left palm, showing the ascending stars and constellations in their life and his exact place in society – almost every inhabitant of Yane has these, but as one travels away from the great city, it becomes less and less common, and checked, and in the smaller villages, only one’s main star really matter. Of course, one being outside of his own trade within his star should be wary of going to the greater cities in the league then – for a potential employer would have their horoscope drawn, and the penalties for being outside of your specific trade are severe, if not as severe as cheating on your Caste – that, is no less than death.

Varangians are also supposed to dress themselves in the color of their Maidens, no matter how dulled, and sometimes, slightly deviant from the main color – Varangians, certainly, have the most colorful peasants in all Creation, and a royalty that goes from the downright impressive in their regalia to the.. well, fruity. Dressing in your right color is required – the penalty for it is only slight if someone gives a decent excuse, but always applied – a messenger that comes in gray trapping to deliver an important message will be heard with all attention – and then whipped for his lack of decorum. To dress in the trappings of another caste is a great offense, which can lead to physical punishment, incarceration, or even death, without much difficulty. The clothing in the middle classes up tends to be richly decorated with motiffs of stars, images depicitng their maidens and their respective domans, and the symbols of their maidens and the constellations – the Mast, the Gull, the Spear, the Hawyan and from then on. The Nobility and the Royals, and some wealthy merchants, see it as a sign of status to wear circlets with the symbol of their Maiden on jewels – a tradition none remember the reason why it seems to confer so much status...

Mercury-Born
'( Messengers ; Salty Dogs ; Golden Birds )

Those born under Mercury are the messengers and sailors of the Varangian league. Those born under Mercury with strong ascendency of Mars becomes some of their best admirals, while those with ascendency in Jupiter are considered level-headed enough to be placed in adminstrative positions, overseeing trade routes and ships, and those born under Venus are their shipbuilders and scribes. Those with ascedent of Saturn are considered bad omens, those who will die early, and generally assigned to hardy and dangerous jobs.

Venus-Born
( Courtesans ; Creators ; Azure Peacocks )

Those born under Venus are the entertainers, the actors, the writers and the courtesans of the Varangian league. Those with the poorest stars to pure Venus may become prostitute slaves, while those more favorable stars might be pampered and trained into Royal courtesans. Between that, art, and the more formal crafts, there are never too many Venus born. Those with strong ascendency of Mercury are traveling entertainers and actors, while those with ascendency in Jupiter, writers and poets, into a more abstract art. Those with ascedency in Mars make war with words and performance, and are their chosen diplomats, and also their most irresistible courtesans. Those with ascendency in endings tend to be their most abused prostitutes, and also the ones to craft the trappings of dead, and crypts.

Jupiter-Born
( Oracles ; Librarians ; Bureaucrats; Emerald Mystics )

Those born under Jupiter are the Varangian elite – they are its Astrologists, its librarians, its keepers of lore, its investigators. The vast majority of the Jupiter-Born are placed as Astrologists – all ascendencies tie in Jupiter apply to some aspect of astrology. The ascendencies might dictate their primary focus, but any experienced astrologist has already learned the ways of most other constellations, and in this, astrologists have the most liberty of all.

Mars-Born
'( Soldiers ; Brutes ; Crimson Warriors )

Those born under Mars go for all things Martial. They are the police, army and bodyguards of the Varangian league. Those born under Mars with a strong ascedency of Mercury are thought to be great conquerors – these, they tend to give as gifts to the Realm, but they keep some for their own endeavors. Those of Mars with ascedency in under Jupiter are their strategists and planners, those who know the secrets of things martial, while those with ascendency in Venus make the League’s finest weapons and war machines. Those Mars-born with ascendency in Saturn, surprisingly, don’t suffer as heavy a prosecution – they are the assassins, and their deadliest warriors. Ironically, for all the respect they get, they also tend to get people more nervous around then than even pure Saturn-Born.

Saturn-Born ( Gardeners ; Farmers; Damned ; Violet Executioners )

Those born under the Maiden of Endings in Varang have a hard lot ahead of them – the few that do make it past their few weeks, or even their childhood. Saturn-Born are thought to die early, and to bring disgrace upon their family – this is not enforced by the Astrologists, but neither is that fiercely denied enough to dissipate one of the League’s stronger supersticions – as such, most Saturn-Born are drowned at birth. This is specially true in the Royal Family – nobody wants the sort of ending these might bring. Many more are killed by relatives eager to correct the parent’s weakness, thinking they are working in their best interests; And, assuming they survive all this, they have a hard lot ahead of them. Truly, they are to be the Executioners, the gardeners, the farmers, the funeral masters, those who observe the rites of passage into adulthood – but on the practice, the Mars-Born do the executions when no Saturn-Born is available, and some courtesans are taught the arts of gardening on the side – and, of course, as one can never have a shortage of them, most Saturn-Born alive receive the trade of the farmer, making the most of the mass of poor peasants on the Varangian countryside – and it is always a parent’s wish that his child lives a better life than they.

The average Varangian don’t tend to regret his lot much, even when it is a hard one – they are taught this is their role in the universe, and that is to be a good role. There is a saying, that is different for each caste, but goes like, “Just as a Gull didn’t ask to have wings and feathers, I didn’t ask to be born on my trade, but to curse in my gifts would be a waste of the time I could be seeing the world, in a way only I could – why curse my gifts, if I can live them?

Astrology touches every aspect of Varangian life, not just their births – At the end of each Calibration and the beggining of a new year, horoscopes are drawn for each village and city, and for each citzen that can afford it. It is also checked before any trip, performance, or conflict – before anything of even mild importance. Any ordinary citzen knows how to check his horoscope (Varangian citzens are assumed to possess at least Astrology +2), and they do so daily, or weekly at most. That doesn’t stop those wealthier from spending fortunes to get predictions from a variety of famed astrologists – usually more than one, ‘just to be sure!’.

Varangian philosophy, on the surface, makes them perfect Immaculate followers, in the way they believe in the natural place for all – but, for all they pay lip service to the order, their real worship is in the Maidens, whom they fervently adore. Festivals are held for the constellations, and some places within the league even worship the gods assossiated with the maidens – especially the army’s prayers to Hu Dai Liang, and the Scholars’ mentions to Nara-O. An outlaw cult, the children of Hawyan, are also rumored to bring about... many endings during the end of each harvest, but they aren’t tolerated, and are wanted criminals.

Yane, Jewel Inder the Sea of Stars

The Royal Palace : The Saffron Spire, popularly known as Tar’s Shack, over the astrologist hermit who inhabited there during the Contagion, and who first led the community that was to become Yane, and then, Varang. A towering Saffron spire of revolutionary First Age design, with many functions and essence-machines which are barely understood, great gardens, and one of the most accurate and pompous astrological observatories in Creation. A level 5 Sidereal Manse, whose overflow of essence accounts for most of its exotic functions, like mystical light, running water, and pools of observation.

The Great Varangian Observatory : Lighthouse of Stars is the third-greatest observatory in Varang, second only to the Saffron Spire’s and the Stardust Clockwork located on another great Varangian city. It is nevertheless the most used of the three, catering to most important readings in Varang, whereas the Saffron Spire’s is only used to Royal, ceremonial readings regarding the royal family, higher nobles, and all of the League, and the Stardust Clockwork is mostly used by its city and those who go there for its excellence, the Lighthouse of Stars caters to most of Varangian population, its nobles and merchants, and most people to whom a trip there would be swifter than one to the Stardust Clockwork. The observatory is a great first age building, though more round in shape than the usual blocky style farvored on the Solar First Age, colored silver and white with steel-grey apparatus only a Varangian could tell the utility of sprouting from all directions, some resemblings lenses or steely rings.

The Celestial Council : The ruling body of the Astrologer’s Guild, comprising of as many members as there are stars in the great 25 constellations. They are chosen amongst the most famed and influent astrologists, and their word is respected law. They also act as a ‘Lesser Chamber’ for the even more important Zodiac. They dress in dark saffron robes doted with silver stars, their maiden’s symbol sewn in its appropriate color on the back of their gloves.

The Zodiac : The 25 members of the Zodiac are the Royal astrologers of Yane, and its most respected citzens, commanding an authority and respect that sometimes surpass that of the Royal Family itself. They dress in robes that have the symbol of all the five maidens, and all of their colors – one who becomes of the Zodiac has transcended their patron maiden’s blessing in their mastery of astrology, thus becoming one with the aspects of all of them – and somewhat lessened as in, they have the symbol of the constellation they are to represent on the Zodiac, and are supposed to know its mysteries above all( even though most members of the zodiac know the inner secrets of at least half of them.), as the secret manuscripts of Varang are theirs to study. More than half of this number is usually comprised of God-Blooded, but Dragon-Blooded, with their warrior disposition and affiny to earth, are rare in their ranks. The appointment is for life; There are no retired Zodiac members, and they must have the proof of one’s death before appointing another to the post – Disappearances and renegades make only for vacant seats, sometimes for centuries.

The Lapis Ewer : A social club for Varangian elite, where only members of the Astrologer’s guild, aristocracy and the wealthiest merchants are allowed. The most frivolous readings are made by its professionals, from love-life to what would best be the most auspicious menu for tonight’s great party in its halls. Most of the Dragon-Blooded in Yane attend it in a regular basis, and of course, only being one allows you entry, no matter your standing( how they will treat you inside if you are an uneducated bum is another matter, but as a supporter of the Scarlet Empire and possessing some survival instincts, they dare not deny a Dragon-Blooded their debauchery.). It still bears the style of the Dragon-Blooded Shogunate, in its gardens, pounds, and running doors, although the building itself had to be mostly rebuilt twice in its history due to some parties that became.... wild.

Palace of Venus : Yane’s most famous brothel. It has women from all around Creation, and, in fact, it has few natives( due to a certain fetish of the xenophobic, close-knit Varangians for foreign women – blonde northeners and blue-haired westerners in particular.). Although it does have some girls who aren’t only priced for nobles and rich men, and some ‘discount days’ even for these( with this discount given to those under a certain maiden or constellation), it does not serve foreigners willingly, and they are less than welcome in all respects.

The Roasted Gull : One of Yane’s most famous restaurants, albeit not its wealthiest by a longshot. It has a simple, but well-made dishes of seafood( including its birds, as the name implies) and country food such as chickens, but its defining quality is its workers and clientele. Its waiters are opinionated and full of personality, and it is the place where most of Yane’s intelectuals, artists and activists tend to meet, as of three centuries ago. Even a few gregarious members of the Zodiac can be seen on the Gull from time to time, and the former prince loved to come here for the talk in his youth, decades ago. It is a simple, yellow-and-brown building, made of good wood, with its inner walls lined with paintings of some of its most illustrious customers, both present and past.

The Houses of Ascedent and Descendent Battles : Yane’s two great defensive barracks, Ascendent to the Northeast and Descendent to the Southwest, where Mars-born soldiers train night and day. Both have openings to the sea, with military harbors and Firedust cannons greater than any in the walls save those of the Saffron spire. Both have a full squad of Ashigaru armor and 3 each of Starmetal-alloyed Dragon Armor. They do not possess Warstriders; The 6 possessed by Yane military are all stashed in the palace barracks, due to their mobility, allowing them to both protect the Palace or move to the front lines quickly.

Academy of Secrets : Is the house of knowledge in Yane, and it is the size of a village. In it is its greatest secondary school, the ‘college’ for those who wish into the Astrologer’s Guild, the Astrologer’s Guild itself, and Yane’s lybrary( The Whispers of Jupiter ) as well as, as an open secret, shrines to the Maidens and their greatest servants.

The Royal Family :

Yani Akhil Asha, The hope of the people, the proud, opinionated, strong-willed and Mars-Born oldest princess of Varang. After her parents were killed and Varang seemed about to collapse on lack of leadership, the Zodiac pushed a 16-year-old as the new ruler of the League... and were pleasantly surprised with the fervor with which she spoke and lead the masses to a calm. She seems to loathe the prospect of marriage, though.

Yani Akhil Amala, the middle princess, Jupiter-Born, fair and shy, she seems almost invisible on court and parties, even with her beauty and adornments. She rarely raises her voice above a whisper, and has a panoply of pets as well as a great mini-garden in her room, loving animals and plants... certainly more than people, with whom she seems really awkward with.

Yani Akhil Kasi, the youngest heir and prince of Yane, Mercury-Born and eager, he loves riding, swordplay, and his sisters, and although only 8, seems like quite the personality on parties and such, both the jewel and the mascot of the castle.

Important Zodiac Members :

Kiran, an old, but still active and energetic man, zodiac of the Sorcerer. A God-Blooded who has even spent a couple of years on the Heptagram studying the intrincacies of Sorcery. He is extremely protective of the Royal Family, and one of their most trusted advisors... as well as one of the most feared men on the city, and their greatest Geomancer.

Lochan, A middle-aged man, a human, but accomplished on the intrincacies of astrology and thaumaturgy. Vibrant in ascholarly way, he always has a book in hand and glasses to his face, and is the pursuer of the weirdest, whackiest, and most unusual theories. The Zodiac of the Musician, and it shows in his liking for poetry and dreams, and their... interesting applications to stablished knowledge and theories.

Lakshimi, is rumored to be a demon-blooded, offspring of a great demon unleashed by an anathema on the city around the time of her birth. She fought and still fights prejudice, but her ability is undeniable – she is a good sorcerer, a decent fighter, and the greatest authority Yane has in demonic matters. Representing the Crow, this middle-aged woman is a somber and silent figure, but her presence already says much – she speaks only when nessessary, but she is always, always noticed.

Manish, is an old man, close to his end, with a long white beard and going everywhere with his walking cane. Representing the Gauntlet, he is gruffy, grumpy curmudgeon, and rarely ever hides his displeasure at most happenings... or his bafflement at the current events. A God-Blooded, accomplished in charms but without much of a hint of sorcery, he can still move and strike with a puissance one would never expect of such an old man.

Jade Eye, is the youngest member of the Zodiac – at least apparently, although he is in true one of the oldest - and a Sidereal. The remaining Bronze faction member on Yane, he is a competent, intelligent and accomplished in astrology... and yet, is angry over the fact he cannot foresee any of what is going on...

The Palace Guard :

Ledaal Teo, An Air-Aspected Dragon-Blooded, master technician of the Palace and the Royal family.

Jai Redblade, A Fire-Aspected Dragon-Blooded Mars-Born. He has recently became captain of the palace guard, after his two predecessors left. The first, a lesser Realm Noble Tepet Myr was recalled after his House’s decimation, and the God-Blooded Mirian was slaughtered during the attempted coup, that also decimated most of the palace guard. Seren protected the Royal children of any and all who dare to approach, and his wounds have just healed from this endeavor.

Shataya Nur,

Seren Mirth, A Mars-born, a tall southerner and the bodyguard to Madhukar.

Madhukar, A Journeys-born diplomat who will escort the PCs to the Saffron Spire.

The City :

Peleps Leonidas has a legend as well-known in Yane as in the Realm. He was born on Yane a hundred and twenty years ago, his time of birth carefully recorded, raised as a mars-born of Yane. Shipped to the Realm for primary school, he Exalted in it during school fights, and proceeded to the House of Bells, where he graduated with high grades and proceeded to become both a admiral and a merchant, in turn, for House Peleps. He helped his House from afar, defeating its enemies and sealing pacts and contracts for it in Satrapies. It was only seventy years later that he returned to his homeland, forging a Sworn Brotherhood with Tepet Myr and Akhil Sanjit. They had decades of adventure together, and at one point, Sanjit and Leonidas both fancied princess Yani Millia Shalimar... something that didn’t end well for Leonidas. It was 30 years ago, on an attempted invasion of the Lintha, a blitzkrieg led by an Anathema who stopped the Firedust Cannons, breached the walls, sacked every ship on port, and most of its harbor district... they even approached the Saffron Spire, but the sworn brothers defended it, cutting through the wyld-tainted and demon-blooded beings, pushing the pirates back to their ships, and even pursued them to the sea, using their charms to catch up, slow and break the ships of the infernal anathema, catching up with him as the other pirate ships broke around him, and making him pay dearly, which was, doubtless, the greatest battle in the life of the brotherhood. Most of the ships got away with all they had sacked, but the loss of the Infernal and the ferocity with which they were chased off kept the Lintha wary from such an attack again.

The victory had them made, Tepet Myr became the lord of the Palace Guard, and Sanjit ended up, after a while, finally getting his ticket into the royal family, and Shalimar’s bed, becoming the king of Varang. Leonidas, on the other hand... even with all the opportunities he would have if staying, decided to go away. With the fortune and contacts he had hoarded in the previous century of his life, specially on the time when he was an admiral and a trader, before V’neef took that from his House, he stablished his own Household, and laid the foundations of forming a coehsive power on the realm. He had been the more older and somber part of the brotherhood, but when he came back to the realm, all of his youthful spark had dimmed to nothingness. He kept making trips to Varang, and invited his old friends to all parties he threw on his pleasure yatchs, always celebrating their old adventures and the scar gained on the battle against the Lintha Infernal....

Leonidas is old, powerful, and one of the greatest admirals of House Peleps, and the whole Dynasty. He has broke countless pirates on his ships, and crushed the Lookshy navy on the one time they fought. Many say he has forgotten how to lose. That is not true. He remembers all too well, and is certain to never let that happen again. Many of his victories are due to the fact he is willingly to gruesomely sacrifice his men, ships, and everything else to see his enemies turned to ash over the waves...

Ledaal Mia, a sixty-years old Fire Aspect Sorceress who became enraptured by the wonders in Yane, and decided to stay there decades past, around the time of the Lintha raid.

Ledaal Mara, Mia’s daughter

Ledaal Serinim is Mia’s son and High Commander of the city guard, Serinim is a fearsome man. He has to be. Those who know the High Commander socially, in most of the richest and wealthiest parties of Yane, know a spirited, romantic, fun-loving man, who tends to write poetry on the spot to those who catch his fancy or his friendship, and has a great liking of both sake and tea. That is all true. But also, it is simply the coals of a dormant fire – the embers shining in pretty fiery colors, calm and pretty... just waiting some fuel to once again become a burning conflagration.

Yane is, as far as big cities in Creation go, mostly safe, and that is because of Sarinim... and how gruesome and unforgiving he can be to criminals. The smell of burnt flesh and the pained, desperate wails of the burned are what he leaves behind when he fights criminals, and he enforces that all the rest of the guard do the same. Following the idea that to end crime, one does not redeem people so much as to kill all criminals to make every other citzen thing twice about commiting a crime, he makes sure the only ones in the prisions of Yane are those not caught in the act. It wasn’t long ago that Serinim was able to dismantle the Three Devils Gang... leaving all but one of them as charred bodies on the ground.

The Brass Mountain is an almost mythical figure on Yane, and the lord of most of its crime. They say he first appeared twenty years ago, but some people say he has been around for longer. His group begun to spread throughout the Yanese underworld, and soon its most proeminent criminal groups, the Incandescent Razor and Adamant Lion Gangs, were destroyed and assimilated by it, as well as its thieves’ guild. The assassin’s guild managed to avoid war by just submitting a good relation of felaty to the Mountain, although some say there was a war, just a more subtle one. Only the Three Devils Gang posed any resistance to the Mountain until recently, but High Commander Ledaal Serinim took care of that.

An impossibly large and strong man southern man with a bare head, clad in ornated crimson armor and sporting a gigantic sword, some say the Mountain is a Terrestrial Exalted, and there has truly been a great figure who twice crossed swords with Serinim, survived both, and sent the powerful High Commander to a medic in one. But it is also said the Mountain is simply an enforcer serving the true crimelord of Yane... while others say that the ‘Mountain’ most people fear is simply a legend, or a figure dead a decade past, and the conflict was simply made by less flamboyant Dragon-Blooded criminals. But a single syndicate controls most of Yane’s crime as of now, and all of them answer to The Brass Mountain.

Luminous Rain,

Ceres Windon is a craftsman, and a very good one at that, figuring as quite a wealthy man in Yane, but more on the side of classy and useful than wealthy. He crafts the finest jewelry, and the most accurate and fancy pocket watches of Varangian High society. Particularly wealthy, he is seen as a paragon of the one who rides his fate to glory, an example of how far one can get when he puts his heart to his fated craft. An old man of short beard, always wearing lenses and a handful pocket watches, Ceres in a mild-mannered man with a handuful of little eccentricities relating to his work, but all take it as the natural touch of an artist, and leave him to use these oddities to create new masterpieces...

Nya Windon, Ceres’ daughter, is Yane’s little jewel. Pretty, shy and polite, a good little girl in any social event, she

Scarlet Song is a god-blooded, is the wealthiest courtesan in Yane, and one of the most highly-priced ones on Creation. Her voice is a sweet melody; Her eyes are glittering emeralds; Her hair is long, wavy, crimson and fine; Her body is voluptuous and generous, and her every movement is full of sensuality and lust. She has been in the profession for 40 years, and has been famous and highly-priced for 30, while retaining a beauty never ages. It is known that that is not simply for the fact that she is a god-blooded, but also that some of her divine customers pay her by halting the aging of her body.

It is said that, once every year she couples with the city father of Yane, and does not age for the following year. These characteristics make her a common character in Yane, creating many sayings like, ‘enough money to buy scarlet song’, or ‘she’s like scarlet song in bed’. She also sometimes, rarely, decides to just walk the streets and pick a person, usually a very young boy or girl, to seduce and play with for a night, though she has done that less after a man she had captured the heart of tried to kill her in one of these outings.
