The Manse Of A Thousand Comforts

This manse is not valuable in a tactical sense; however, to the intrepid warrior, it is far greater. Crafted by the Lunar architect Fear Eyes in R.Y. 717, it sits on a small island in the West, approximately a week's sail south of the Wavecrest Archipelago. Exactly why Fear Eyes built it is uncertain; it seems to be at odds with traditional Lunar values, and there is little evidence that the Lunar spent much time actually in it. However, after he was recently slain by a Wyld Hunt, the Dynastic warrior Ragara Seijin (one of the few survivors) claimed the Manse and has spent the last few months operating out of it.

The Manse is a three-story building, constructed using flowing lines and elegant geomancy, square in shape and overlooking the western cliffs of the island. A small courtyard leads into the main structure, which is constructed of white marble. The manse's rooms are exquisitely furnished, with everything carefully designed to create the perfect atmosphere of peace and contentment. Each floor contains six rooms, which can be quickly configured to be common areas, studies, or bedchambers, as well as one water closet. The first floor also contains a kitchen and storage area.

Seijin knows most of the commands to the Manse, but remains suspicious that there might be a few he is not aware of.

Game Mechanics

Manse Level 3.
Drawbacks: None.

Powers:

Password Activated (1 pt): Anyone in the Manse can control its functions, provided they know the phrases to activate it. All phrases are spoken in Old Realm.

Comfort Zone (1 pt): The Manse is always pleasant, regardless of the weather or season outdoors. This can be altered very slightly for a given room with the appropriate command.

Magical Conviniences x4 (4 pts): There are no fewer than twelve seperate capabilities within the Manse, as follows:

  • Lights activate automatically as any character enters a room. These can be turned off with a password.
  • All furniture automatically resizes itself for whomever sits in it.
  • The Manse's kitchen is capable of producing meals based on the commands given.
  • Any room in the Manse can be rendered completely soundproof on command.
  • The Manse contains special containers that perfectly clean any object that is placed in them if the command is given.
  • A character in any room of the Manse can contact any other room, provided the target room has not been rendered soundproof.
  • The roof of the Manse can slide aside, revealing a glass skylight. This skylight can also be opened. Both require the appropirate command.
  • The Manse's floors and walls are self-cleaning.
  • The entryway can be set to announce anyone entering the Manse; this can be set for the entire Manse, or a single room, or any combination thereof.
  • The Manse has fully functional magical plumbing, including hot and cold running water, that are voice-controlled.
  • The Manse's storage rooms can keep spoilable goods fresh indefinately.
  • The Manse's windows can be commanded to open, allowing fresh air in but not outside weather patterns or temperatures.

If the Manse has any other Powers or Drawbacks, its owner is not aware of them.

Hearthstone: The Hearthstone of the Manse of a Thousand Comforts is called the Stone of Adaptation. It allows a character to spend 1 mote of Essence to substitute the average of her three Physical Attributes for any one Physical Attribute, or the average of her three Social Attributes for any one Social Attribute on a roll (rounding up). This counts as a natural change for the purpose of Attribute Excellencies (increasing their limits), but the character must still activate an Excellency of the original Attribute.
