Weave: The Power of a Story

One of the core powers that make raksha what they are is the ability to mold the Wyld like so much clay, either to create beauty, to cause harm or to suit whatever purpose touches their mad hearts at the time. Nonetheless, some raksha awaken with an innate knack for the art, and have a headstart compared to their peers either in Charm capability or outright shaping might.

Each dot expands a raksha's starting capabilities to a small degree. This Background is strictly off-limits past initial character generation, obviously.

Weave

X: You are nothing special, in terms of inborn shaping knowhow.

●: As your Graces formed, the remnants of a long-forgotten tale wafted into your pattern, and you have been touched by shaping greatness. The raksha may choose one shaping combat Charm pertaining to their Major Grace or Graces, so long as they meet the requirements for its use.

●●: Further inundated by shapings and legends past, the raksha's newly-born being forges a greater understanding of their truest Grace and the tales it can tell. From birth onward, all shaping combat charms pertaining to one of the raksha's Major Grace or Graces (chosen at purchase of Weave 2) cost one less Experience Point to purchase.

●●●: A true and terrible story lives in the raksha's Heart, feeding their shaping glory and inflaming their need to dominate the battlefield of wyld-shaping The raksha may choose a second shaping combat Charm pertaining to their Major Grace or Graces, so long as they meet the requirements for its use.

●●●●: Swelling and roiling inside their being, the various fragments of dream and possibility culled from Wyld and Real form into a cohesive ball of knowledge, and the raksha only grows all the more intelligent for it. From birth onward, all shaping rolls pertaining to one of the raksha's Major Graces (chosen at purchase of Weave 4) gains an additional die. This does not count towards the raksha's normal dice limits.

●●●●●: Awakened to a greater artistic vision from the moment of conception, the raksha screams to the Wyld sky, and the unformed madness obeys their every whim. The raksha may choose a third shaping combat Charm pertaining to their Major Grace or Graces, so long as they meet the requirements for its use. Also, once per story the raksha may reroll any one failed shaping attack, block or dodge roll reflexively and at no cost. This is explicitly allowed to be used with feeding Charms.

Comments

This was meant to work a la Vats, in that it gives starting raksha a few extra shaping tricks from chargen. I'm going to go ahead and redo this and try to make it sorta viable. --DarkheartOne

Just beware the XP reduction - those are both the hallmark of twinks, and the road to danger, and other such warnings. Training time reductions, lack of a need for a teacher, and such are all quite suitable, but dropping XP costs is a dangerous precedent. Note also that 'vats' only gives access to extra charms, which require days to swap in and out, at your home base. You still have the same number of total charms. This, on the other hand, is much more of a direct bonus, mobile and useful at all times. -- GreenLantern

Hmmmmm. I see, I see. Raksha learn basically instantaneously anyway, so that removes that option. I will consider what to do with this. --DarkheartOne

Removed the -2 cost bit, swapped it with a die bonus thingie. Comments/suggestions appreciated. --DarkheartOne
