  • The Lunar scene-long defense is called digusting base stats plus Deadly Beastman Transformation, which leads to even more disgusting stats, allowing you insane initiative and a load of split actions.
  • Their first Charm turns any full dodge into protection equivalent to Flow Like Blood. Immensely useful if you're ganged up upon or beaten in a close initiative contest, a lynchpin if you happen to be able to get your hand on some sort of Extra Action effect.
  • For those splitting their dice pool, Bending Before the Storm (second tier) is a godsend, allowing you to almost double the effect of your low-end defensive actions and meaning you will never under-roll your dodge.
  • Flowing Body Evasion is a perfect defense with an activation check which is almost a formality. Dodge is the only way as currently written that a Lunar can acquire a Perfect Defense.
  • Unmoving Bear Defense can give you a low-level defense at any time, without limitation on it's use. Can be very effective in conjunction with Bending Before the Storm, but probably not until higher Essence levels.
  • Combos like Bowing Reed Technique and Striking Serpent Speed will allow you to dodge everything and make additional attacks. Similar setups for other Extra Actions Charms also exist; using Angry Predator Frenzy Style even lets you have a facsimile of a persistent dodging effect, as long as you spend four motes every turn on Bowing Reed Technique and have APFS active.
  • Running through the Herd and pack Saving Method also provide unusual defensive options that can tip the scales in a highly tactical battle.
  • Lunars aren't as big on defensive actions as Solars are. But they are big on soaking. VERY big. They are also big on regeneration and reflexive healing charms. In short, while Solars are better at avoiding damage, Lunars are better at withstanding it.
  • The lunars have the nastiest dodge charm ever written period (but limited to hand to hand attacks) . Except it's not in the dodge tree but in the Unarmed Combat I tree. There's a charm called Snake Body Technique p137. Read it and watch your eyes bug out as you gain a measure of how obscenely heinous a lunar's reflexive dodge is.
  • Lunar dodge vs Lunar Parry is pretty much the normal story of dodge vs parry for any exalted (barring, perhaps, the DBs). If parry is a better QUALITY defense, Dodge is, as usual, a better QUANTITY defense.
  • For a Lunar, sure, if you've got the gifts to spare, take Rugged Hide. It's VERY good for what it does. Barring that, get some Moonsilver armor. It won't even slow your dodge lunar down! Takes no time to put on! It's awesome.
