Karaka Village is a small farming community that raises citrus fruit and soybeans. Like most villages it is built like a fort, with an exterior wooden palisade surrounding the homes of the villagers, with the fields and orchards outside. Outside the cleared fields is a forest, home to deer, squirrels, rabbits, a variety of birds, and, of course, wolves. Possibly a bear or two. The predators tend to keep to the inner parts of the forest save for the colder months. As this village isn't situated on a direct trade route, the local bandit groups have mostly passed it by, though they too get hungry during the winter.

The current village Elder is a woman named Benificent Mist, a grandmotherly old woman, who runs the village with kindness, understanding, and a level of psychological insight into her people that almost qualifies her for assassination. Now, while everyone agrees that Mist is a very wise woman (if they know what's good for them), the local midwife/shaman is, somewhat unusually, a middle-aged man named Sagacious Forest. When he arrived ten years ago, he was regarded somewhat suspiciously, but due to his hard work, diligent efforts, and a bit of luck, he finally managed to win over their trust a few months ago. He handles any supernatural situations that crop up, as well as helping out with the orchard.

They worship the local Goddesses of the trees and fields, in a fairly standard way, exchanging prayer and the occasional sacrifice for good harvests. Forest makes sure they don't get too greedy, playing them off each other.

It's production seems to have dropped off a bit in recent months however. The trade town nearby, Amber Garden, has assumed that the harvest has been a bit off. The Eye is not so sure. You should be prepared for potential issues with the local gods.
