Rising Sun, Session Three

A summary needs to go here

<ST_Mod> <Various Gaurdsmen> "Puppet! God worshiping scum! This is your fault!"

  • Emerald Grace turns to Hekaton, whispering quietly. "Would it seem too unrealistic for you to make your big appearance now?"

<Hekaton> "I guess not."

<Hekaton> "Let's hurry."

  • Haraka stands in the door, watching this at the moment as the abuse of the animist occurs, "Well that isn't good." He decides to stay out of this, not wnating to make much more of a scene.

<Emerald Grace> "Okay. Er, what name are you going to use? I was thinking maybe you owed a favor to my father, and that's why I came to get you."

<Hekaton> "Um."

  • Hekaton dresses quickly while he thinks.

<Hekaton> "I shall be known as Auspicious Cloud."

<Hekaton> "Wandering mystic from all over the Scanvenger Lands, schooled in all matters of lore, thaumaturgy and mysticism."

<ST_Mod> <Various thrown rocks hit the poor man who begins to bleed>

  • Emerald Grace smiles wryly. "And it was so fortunate you were wandering here." She looks out the window. "Damn, here goes nothing. Ready?" She starts pushing him out the door.
  • Auspicious_Cloud gathers his impressive mystical garb, heavy with talismans and mystical signs, and steps between the stoned man and the guards.
  • Emerald Grace looks properly solicitous and demure for one speaking with a Prince of the Earth.
  • Haraka blinks as he sees someone he didn't know was in the house suddenly walk by as they speak with Emerald Grace. He blinks a couple times confusedly and watches what happens.

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Stop this madness!"

<ST_Mod> The gaurdsmen pause in their work, turning to see who would stop them when they see the increadible visage of an angry terrestial. They look amongst themselves, not sure what to do now.

<Auspicious_Cloud> "You are quite the fools to stone the very people who will likely be of great importance to your valley in the future!"

<ST_Mod> One of them, probably the leader of this little mob raises his voice up. <ST_Mod> "Who are you?"

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Unless you know someone who can repair your bell, you all better make sure you know how to show proper reverance to the Little Gods."

<Emerald Grace> "How dare you speak so impudently to the son of a Dragon! He is the answer to our prayers, that's who."

  • Auspicious_Cloud directs his confident, angered gaze to the leader. "I am known in these parts as Auspicious Cloud."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Not to worry, Emerald Grace. This part of Creation has been shielded from reality and its people have grown weak, both spirtitually and in showing reverence for their superiors."

<ST_Mod> They look amongst themselves worridly and there is murmers from them. You see a small crowd is now watching this as well. Finally the leader turns back to you. "I appologise for my tone Lord Dragonblood."

  • Emerald Grace hangs her head. "I am sorry for their ignorance, my lord."

<ST_Mod> During all this the man they were stoning has disappeared, and in the face of one of the Princes of the Earth and their quarry gone the gaurdsmen start to move off as well.

  • Emerald Grace gestures towards the temple for anyone who still watches. "Allow me to take you to the priest now, sir."

<ST_Mod> You reach the temple and its gaurds.

  • Auspicious_Cloud speaks so the townspeople they pass can hear. "You told me of a friend who is skilled with wards and such? Haraka, I believe? I would like to see him as well."
  • Emerald Grace smiles. "But of course, my lord. I can send for him after you speak with the priest."
  • Auspicious_Cloud nods and waits impatiently for the priest, performing a small quick prayers and rituals as he makes a quick examination of the immediate area.

<ST_Mod> The priest arrives, breathing a little heavily from his speedy exertion to not keep this august guest waiting. "Uhm...yes?"

  • Auspicious_Cloud bows slightly to the priest and makes a flowery introduction of himself.

<ST_Mod> The priest bows back. "It is a great honour to meet you Lord Auspicious Cloud. How can we humble folk be of service to you?"

<Auspicious_Cloud> "I heard rumors about trouble in the valley, and after speaking to Emerald Grace here I understand your ancient Bell has been broken?"

<ST_Mod> "Why yes it has. Someone or something did it."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "I came to study how the spirit courts reclaim this land after such a long time, but talking to Emerald Grace I realized we have a good chance of repairing the bell."

<ST_Mod> He wrings his hands a little, his training not really preparing him for what to do when a Dragonblood comes by.

<ST_Mod> He immediently brightens up. "You can? Why that is wonderful sir! Would you like to see it?"

  • Auspicious_Cloud keeps the priest on his toes by looking with slight dissapproval at him every now and then, but saying nothing.

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Of course. Lead the way."

<ST_Mod> He shows you down to the bellchamber and the great cracked bell.

<ST_Mod> "This is it my lord. Is there anything you think you could do?"

<Auspicious_Cloud> "I am not an artificier myself, but with my knowledge of lore and the occult, and Emerald Grace's impressive craft skills, we have a good chance of mending the bell and its magics."

<ST_Mod> "Of course of course. If there is anything you need at all you just have to ask my Lord."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Of course we would need privacy for our sensitive examinations and planning."

<ST_Mod> "I promise you that no one will enter this room but yourselves."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "And some jade for the repairs..."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "But that is a later concern. First to see what can be done."

<ST_Mod> He hesitates for a fraction of a moment. "Of course Lord, I will see if we can find any that you can use."

<ST_Mod> At that point he departs the room with much bowing and leaves you two alone.

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Unless there are any rituals to observe in this place, maybe we could commence right away? My time is preious."

  • Emerald Grace listens intently and waits for the sound of the priest's foosteps to fade into the distance.
  • Auspicious_Cloud looks at Emerald Grace as soon as he's gone and grins a little. "I've impersonated quite a few people in my life, but never like this. I could get used to this."
  • Emerald Grace grins. "It's sort of fun being full of crap, isn't it? Oh! Don't forget to ask for a big thank-you ceremony tomorrow or some nonsense like that. We want EVERYone to know you're going to save the bell." She laughs a little.

<Emerald Grace> The smile disappears from her face. "No, we're not. You're right. But we are saving the town from a demon invasion, and right now, I think that's probably more important." She shifts uncomfortably.

<Auspicious_Cloud> "But we shouldn't just leave the people here without doing SOMETHING for them, even if we can't stop the spirit courts from coming back. We should somehow see to that they adapt well."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "We need to spread the word that we're trying to repair the bell so we lure whoever broke it back."

<Auspicious_Cloud> "I guess a party would be best for that, but I'm going to miss the fun. It feels wrong to pass out from drinking as one of the Princes of the Earth."

  • Emerald Grace grins a bit. "Having a bunch of the Sun's children in the valley to protect it is definitely SOMEthing, wouldn't you say? At any rate, we should see about getting the bell moved to Falcon's forge so I can fix it, and you and Haraka can ward it."
  • Auspicious_Cloud nods. "You go and fix a transport and I'll stay and look mystical."
  • Emerald Grace laughs. "Gotcha." She opens the door and bows dramatically. "My LIEGE." with a grin she flits down the steps to find the priest and arrange transport for the bell.

<ST_Mod> A transport is easy enough to get and soon enough the bell is taken back to the forge.

  • Haraka is sitting by the door to the basement as the bell comes and quickly stands up, "G'day m'lord. Its a pleasure ot meet you." He bows a bit, deciding to sharade for those moving the bell.
  • Auspicious_Cloud bows slightly to Haraka and speaks so the people can hear him. "Ah, this valley is blessed with young talent. With you and Emerald Grace we have a good chance of restoring order!"
  • Haraka smiles and nods in reply, "Thank you. Its not my talent though. it smore my father's diligent training."
  • Emerald Grace waits politely for all of the non-circle members to leave.

<Emerald Grace> Once they're safely gone, Emerald Grace relaxes a bit. "Wonderful. Do you guys want to start tonight or in the morning?"

<Auspicious_Cloud> "Might as well start as soon as I get out of these clothes."

  • Haraka motions over to the books and supplies next to the door, "I've been getting some research done already. We can start soon."

<Emerald Grace> "I'd better go to the forge and start on the bell. Of course, if anyone asks, you're there too."

  • Haraka nods, smiling as he goes to grab his reading crystal, "Yes ma'am."
  • Hekaotn is now known as Hekaton
  • Hekaton lets Haraka lead the planning, as he is probably the smarter of them.
  • Haraka approaches Hekaton as he returns, turning on the reading crystal to reveal a clear screen with a series of glowing white text in Riverspeak on it, along with diagrams, "Okay, I think this is the ritual we need. Not sure though. I found it in an old book and it seems to fit this house. Now I think I got some of the house's shape down and this door to the basement will be a nice focus atleast. Whatcha think?"
  • Emerald Grace slings her hammer (in a sack to hide the demon gold) over her shoulder and slips off to go fix the hammer.
  • Hekaton looks over the planning.

<Hekaton> "I've never actually warded anything against demons, except forcibly with my Fireward, but this looks correct to me."

<Hekaton> Firewand

<Hekaton> o_O

<ST_Mod> :)

  • Haraka nods, settin git down, "Might not be the most accurate thing ot get, but generally shoudl be a good one. I'm not to good at wards yet. Not totally certified, sort ta spea." He grins as he gets the chalk out, "Well, let's get this show on the road."

<ST_Mod> The warding is complete, and with your mastery of essence you can almost see the lines of power woven around it.

  • Haraka spends the next half hour drawing the chalk lines about the room, sealing magics in odd dusts, pwders, and chalks in various runes of Old Relam magics. When it is done, there is an arch on teh floor, its base on either side of it. Another arch stretches over the door titself on the wall, finishing the circle. Throughout it, the runes are a plothora of detailed colors and shapes, banishing unclean demons with its words of pow
  • Hekaton adds his knowledge of specific demons, altering a few details to resonate better with demonic Essence.
  • Haraka finishes the last rune, dictating where all this Essence is going to be channeled ot what, and there is a brief flash of white throughotu them, "Think we're done."
  • Hekaton goes upstairs before the ward is finished to take care of some belongings, then returns with his Daiklave and Firewand. "Yes. Now we wait."

<ST_Mod> Time passes...the hours grow late...

<Emerald Grace> Meanwhile, back at the forge..

<Emerald Grace> Emerald Grace looks around, makes sure she is alone, and then removes her lovely assistant from its covering. She smiles as it hovers in the air. "All right. You work on one side of the crack, I'll work on the other, and we'll meet in the middle. Got it?" The orichalcum goremaul inclines slightly, like a nodding head. Fortunately, Falcon had left the forge fires hot-- now it was just time to wait for the metal to heat enough for malleability. Thi

<Emerald Grace> This would probably take at least an hour, during which time Emerald Grace sketches out a plan of attack while examining the crack more thoroughly. Finally, she and her hammer work together to ensure the bell looks good as new.

  • Orchid is suddenly sitting on the rickety chair in the corner of the room, idly plucking the strings of a small lyre to a fine improvised melody.
  • Hekaton takes some time to find a buff jacket, after contemplating what they could potentially be up against.

<Orchid> "There was a stranger watching you today. Some shadow, certainly an outsider."

<Hekaton> (who are you talking to, orchid?)

<ST_Mod> [the group]

  • Hekaton looks at Orchid, then nods grimly. "Good. Let's hope he decides to come out of the shadows."

<Hekaton> "I guess I could encourage them with another visit by the illustrous Cloud..."

<Orchid> "Sure. Just remember whatever it was will come armed to deal with a blooded."

<Orchid> "Oh, I forgot. The stars are out, I will be watching them from the roof."

  • Orchid puts down the instrument and rises. "The roof of another building, I think."
  • Hekaton grins. "Yes, a blooded, but one of the Dragons, not the Sun... And not more than one. Let them come."
  • Haraka hmms and snoozes a bit next ot thew ard at all of this, not relaly one for keeping watch.

<Hekaton> "Will you keep an eye on the streets as well, Orchid?"

<Orchid> "Indeed. Good luck. I will be around. road boring, stars pretty. But okay, since

  • you
  • ask, sweet-thing."
  • Orchid leaves the rooms with a flourish of her long sleeves as she turns 360 degrees in a piorette in the corridor, then goes upstairs.

<ST_Mod> Every tiny movement, breath and sight is noticed with radar like precision by Emerald Grace. She notices the silent footfalls on the roof, and guess the foe is planning to swing in through an open window near the west wall, giving the party time to get into place for an ambush.

  • Emerald Grace positions herself silently right near the west wall, waiting to extend the considerable length of her goremaul at just the right instant to clothesline the would-be attacker.
  • Hekaton has changed back into Cloud when the warding was done, and is in plain sight, smoking and reading, with a Firewand hidden in his cloak and his Daiklave in a nearby shadowy corner.

<ST_Mod> A figure in all black, but wearing an ivory mask moves to leap and swing inside. He carries a great goremaul, forged of a dark unwholesome metal and the great head of it bearing a pair of rams shaped ram horns. He gets clothlined though, falling to his back after leaping in. It looks kind of funny really.

  • Hekaton pretends not to hear him.
  • Emerald Grace sends her hammer to float uncomfortably close to the man's skull. "Move and my hammer will turn your head into soup."

<ST_Mod> The man doesn't make a move yet.

  • Hekaton gets up since there will be no dramatic ambush, and walks closer to the man.
  • Hekaton aims his Firewand at the man's head.

<Hekaton> "Perhaps you prefer steak over soup?"

<Hekaton> "Something... grilled maybe?"

<Emerald Grace> "Mmmm, meat." Emerald Grace calls over to her friend. "Hey Haraka, do you like your ribs rare or extra crispy?"

  • Haraka hmms, opening his eyes a bit and looking over, putting his glasses on, and blinking a bit, "What the hell?"

<Hekaton> "I'm a bad cook. I always burn it to ash."

<ST_Mod> He remains still on the floor.

  • Emerald Grace picks up the man's hammer. "This isn't nearly as pretty as mine, but I do recognize the horns. I just spent entirely too much time getting this imprint off of the town bell."
  • Haraka gets up and unsheaths his knives, twirling one of them between his index and middle finger, "Well, guess a ward versus demons was a bit much."

<Hekaton> "Take off his mask."

<ST_Mod> However, as Emerald Grace moves to take his hammer his body bursts into movement like a coiled spring, the great head flying straight at Emerald Grace's ribs as the man spins up to his feet.

<Emerald Grace> The hammer spins in the air, orichalcum meeting soulsteel as Emerald Grace controls her ancient weapon with the merest thought. "Don't even try it."

  • Hekaton steps back, drops the Firewand, letting it dangle from the shoulder strap, grabs his Splitklaive, seperates the blades and whirls them around in an impressive blade kata.
  • Haraka thinks for a moment and decides to step back a bit form this situation, running his blades through his fingertips again and letting a small whisp of golde-white Essence come from his hand as he activates his Charm.
  • Haraka stops the twirling in a quick instant, and with a flick of the wrist, sends two of the blades flying towards the intruder, the knives flashing in the light of the room and the light eminating from the Charm they are linked with.

<ST_Mod> Even as the man moves to stand his hammer flashes out to knock blade aside.

  • Haraka blinks confusedly, and catches the knives as they whirl around the man and back into his own hands, "Well that ain't well."

<Emerald Grace> The golden hammer flies forward, intent on crushing the man's legs, while Emerald Grace grabs the poker from the fireplace for use next turn.

<ST_Mod> The man slams his hammerhead into the planks of wood that make up the floor, wood cracking and groaning as he lifts himself up off of the ground for your own hammer to fly past.

  • Hekaton advances to attack, but spins just before he closes the distance, his wide mystic's robes flying out and around as he fakes an attack with one sword. The real attack follows right after, hidden by the robes' motion.

<ST_Mod> The hammer flies up even as the man tries to lift himself up off the ground and with the sound of breaking ribs he is knocked backwards out through a wall into the alleyway beyond the house.

  • Hekaton jumps after the man through the hole he made.

<ST_Mod> Hekaton leaps down after the dark clad man, intent on either finishing or finding the prey...but he seems to have vanished into thin air...

  • Hekaton curses and fires his Firewand around the alley in rage, hoping to hit the man if he has become invisible or some such.
  • Haraka runs to the hole and looks out, seeing if he can persue the guy.
  • Hekaton takes a deep breath to calm himself and activates Spirit-Detecting Glance.

<ST_Mod> You see no spirits.

<Hekaton> "Come on! He can't have gone far!"

<ST_Mod> The three of you search and search! Yet...he eludes your keen ears and watchful eyes.

  • Haraka nods and begins to hop down before stopping, urnning back,a nd cover hing his head with a bandana, "Sorry, gotta be careful y'know."

<ST_Mod> The assailant having disappeared into the shadows of the night and the still alleyways of the city. After a gaurd patrol almost spots the group of you with your magic weapons you return to Emerald Grace's house and wait for morning.
