V'neef Aspen

Aspen is a mystery in herself. She is the hopeful for the future of House V'neef, and not sure herself of who she is, or what she should be doing. Her life has been shrouded from birth, even to her, and only recently has it begun to unravel.

Years before the unfortunate fall of House Tepet, House V'neef had sought relations with Tepet. At that time, V'neef Aliset was quite the available bachlorette, being the granddaughter of V'neef herself. While being shown to the mediocre amount of available suitors Tepet was forthcoming with, Aliset came across a young man by the name of Orion, from the military family of Vergus. Although Aliset first turned Orion down, he was persistent. He came back to her virtually every night, serenading her, sending her lavish gifts, and even interupting the pursuits of other, willing suitors. Over time, Aliset fell for Orion, and they began their secret life together.

Nobody could ever know of their relationship. Aliset used her availability to further the ambitions of the house, and having a reputation as settled down would ruin her image. They had only a brief time together, and in that short time, Aliset came of child. She hid this from the world, feigning a great illness, and running all her operations from within her grandmother's estates, where only the most trustworthy knew of her secret. V'neef herself approved very much of the actions of Aliset, knowing she was more than capable of handling herself proffessionaly, and still find love. Even while pregnant, Aliset still ran operations more than smoothly, which further went to impress V'neef.

Mere weeks before the child was due, in RY 750, house Tepet sent legions to aid Thorns; where the Empress had been secretly sending aid to help an underdog in the succession of the city of Thorns since RY 748; in exchange for a catspaw to use against the Scavenger Lands. Orion was slaughtered, and the rest of the forces of Thorns fell by 752. By the time this news reached Aliset, Aspen was already born. While grieving, she still found time to raise Aspen through the youngest part of her life, but realized that she would have to return to the rest of the world. She gave her child to a young couple that resided inside the V'neef estate, and was having trouble concieving, completing the circle of ruses, covering all bases.

Aliset often returned to see Aspen, and while she was away, V'neef helped to raise her great-grandchild. Even though she was "technically" the child of the young couple, and they shared a mutual love with Aspen, her greatest link was with her true mother, and V'neef. Aspen grew up to show great promise very early, and both Aliset and her grandmother V'neef saw to it that she was raised witha Renaissance education. She was shuttled off to many tutors and schools. She became versed with beuracracy, archery, swordsmanship, horse riding, socializing, and general strengthening of her character. Both her mother and V'neef wanted to make sure she could handle herself in the battlefields of war and politics, which often coincided.

V'neef and Aliset took much pleasure in sending Aspen off to important battles, conferences, and other matters that showed her how the Realm worked. Often one of the only times Aspen and Aliset could be seen together in public where on the battlefield, where Aspen was always a top lieutenant. As Aspen grew, it quickly grew apparent to her all of her parents that she would not side with any one of them, as they each had hoped, but rather took on the wellfare of the house itself. She was quite dedicated to bringing glory to the house. This at one point saddened them each, for they had lost a source of power and influence; but at the same time neither could be prouder.

Aspen was given many gifts. This included power over house holdings, artifacts, and for temporary measures, house forces. Soon to follow, Aspen was set out on her own wings, and has proven herself quite capable, as she finds herself, adventuring in Creation.

Currently, she has found a vested interest in a rogue dragonblooded general, who has troops in the northeast threshold, and this is where the story begins.
