Hui's Artifacts

one word at the beginning: english is not my mother tongue, so please feel free to correct any wrong spellings or bad grammar

Throwing Weapons

Golden Rain (Shuriken)

Artifact •••
Shuriken
Throwing Stats
Accuracy +2 Damage +1L Rate: special Range 10
NO Hand to Hand capability
Requires: Dex • • • Thrown • • • Commitment: 3

Special Ability: If attuned, everyone of this Shuriken breaks up into three Shurikens. Everyone of this 3 Shurikens hits with the successes the wielder acchieved on his roll. To evade this stars, the victim has to make 3 blocks or dodges. If the opponents are extras, each of this 3 stars may hit another person Special Ability 2: SET This Shuriken come in a set of 7 Shuriken

Description: This Shuriken look almost like normal shuriken, and could be used together with normal Shuriken. the only visible difference is, that they are made out of orichalkum. They got their name, from the pure mass of shuriken, that can be seen flying, if a master of his arts works with this set.

Comments for Golden Rain

I started the building of this Shuriken with a Level 0 artifact, which should have the following stats if you follow the ArtifactCreationErrata * Level 0 :: +2 damage, range 10, rate 2; melee capability +2 damage. To get a rate of special, i sacrificed 3 points of damage and took a thrown min. of 3 (which could otherwise lead to a rate of 5) then i took the triplething as one special ability and the number of shuriken in the set as the second and third Hui

Fighting Harpoon

Artifact ••
Harpoon (based on a Javelin)
Throwing Stats
Accuracy +4 Damage +4L Rate 2 Range 50
Hand to Hand Stats
Speed + 3 Accuracy +3 Damage +3L Defense +2
Requires: Dex • • Commitment: 5

Special Ability:

If thrown away, the Weapon can be called back to the wielder through the Elsewhere. To achieve this, the wielder has to succeed in an reflexive Willpower roll, DC 3. If the Willpower roll fails, the user may try again next round at the same difficulty.

Description: Harpoons are normally mere fishing gear up in the north, but in emergencies are also used as fighting weapons. Some Harpoons are especially built to fight with, so they were a little bit sturdier, and for combat purposes, there are no ropes attached to the harpoon, so that its flying ability is not affected. It seems that some masters of harpoon building and magic even build some with inlays of one (or more) of the five magical materials. My Fighting harpoon is made out of an very hard dark wood, and all over the shaft someone carved runes and made inlays out of orichalcum. The harpoonhead itself is made completely out of orichalkum.

Fighting Harpoon as Artifact 3

After building the harpoon, I got an good idea from another person out of the White Wolf forum, who said that I could handle the harpoon a little bit more like a normal harpoon, giving it the following special ability. This ability has to be playtested and measured to find out how good it is; maybe the stats of the harpoon also should be raised if the artifact level is raised.

Special Ability: ethereal rope

There is an invisible rope attached to the hilt of the harpoon so that the wielder may drag an opponent to herself, or wound him a second time when the harpoonhead with its barbs is pulled out. (This ability takes up an action. Should it inflict the same amount of damage as the normal attack?) If you want to drag the opponent to yourself, or if he knows about the rope and grips the harpoon to take it away from you, then both of you have to make an athletics+strength roll. The effect of the difference between the two rolls is up to the ST (perhaps only a slow approach of the opponent for a 1 success difference -- or, if the victim rolls one succes and the pulling person five, a nice flight through the area might be achieved). If the victim wins the roll, nothing happens; the wielder of the harpoon can get it back through the Elsewhere next round, though.

Comments for Fighting harpoon

I'm not quite sure about the might of the first special ability. I thought my power of how to get the weapon back is not as powerful as the normal returning power, so I spent 2 points of damage for it (so one less than I would have spent for the normal power); the second ability hasn't been tested yet. Hui

So if the victim of a harpoon tries to take the harpoon away from the wielder, even if they win the contested roll, they can't succeed? Is this because of the ethereal rope?\\ I did some editing, trying to preserve your original intent. If I failed, I apologize most sincerely.\\ ~ Shataina

Yeah the intention was, that the victim won`t be able to pull the original wielder, because there is no real rope, just a magical connection. The etheral rope couln`t get stuck in anything, and you couldn`t cut it. If this is your only comment about my harpoon, did you like the rest of it? Oh and thanks, for the corrections, almost every correction was ok, only one question about the pullback-power had to be rewritten Hui
