Star Ocean Lanternfish Shintai

The Lanternfish in the Celestial Ocean, with nothing to give, makes an offering of himself. However, this is not self-sacrifice. The Lanternfish, using his own body lain out for his enemies to see, draws those who would do him harm. However, it is through the virtue of giving all that the Lanternfish gains all, and those who oppose him are sacrificed at the temple of his body.

The Star Ocean Lanternfish Shintai was the Godbody of Western Courtly Intrigue in the First Age, and to this day focuses on the manipulation of ocean spirits and water elementals above anything else.

Charms

Lantern Dangling Ritual

 Cost: 5 motes
 Type: Supplemental
 Duration: Instant
 Min. Manipulation: 2
 Min. Essence: 2
 Prerequisites: None

Spirits are creatures of habit and ceremony, and the proper Lunar knows how to honor (or take advantage) of this. After performing the Lantern Dangling Ritual, the Lunar Exalt will instinctively adapt his behavior to follow the desires of any spirits or elementals around him. The Lunar adds a number of dice to any Bureaucracy, Presence, or Socialize roll equal to the highest Essence of the spirit, elemental, or god he is interacting with, up to his Manipulation in dice. When interacting with ocean spirits or water elementals, these bonus dice are considered automatic successes instead.

Star in Ocean's Sky Convocation

 Cost: 3 mote/die
 Type: Simple
 Duration: One Scene
 Min. Manipulation: 2
 Min. Essence: 2
 Prerequisites: Lantern Dangling Ritual

A Lunar using this charm takes on the proud, noble posture of a Western spirit courtier. His skin shimmers elegantly as light patches of silver scales sprout across his arms, legs, and face. The Lunar may spend three motes of essence per die, up to his Manipulation in dice, to add to any Bureaucracy, Presence, or Socialize rolls when interacting with spirits or gods. This pool of additional dice lasts for a scene, and add to any relevant roll in that period of time.

Luminous Antagonism Effort

 Cost:
 Type:
 Duration:
 Min. Manipulation: 2
 Min. Essence: 2
 Prerequisites: Lantern Dangling Ritual

Scintillant Heavens Address

 Cost: 5 motes, 1 Willpower
 Type: Simple
 Duration: One Scene
 Min. Manipulation: 3
 Min. Essence: 2
Prerequisites: Star in Ocean's Sky Convocation, Luminous Antagonism Effort

The Lunar diverts and crosses the essence flows in his body, creating one hundred and twelve brilliant points of essence flow convergence, glowing brightly of the same color as his anima banner. These are the Ocean Court's Lanterns, and call strongly to spiritual essences. Any dematerialized spirits within the the Lunar's Essence x 10 yards are forced to materialize. In addition, any spirits within this range will approach the Lunar, although whether it comes to speak or to kill depends on the Lunar's previous actions and the spirit's disposition. Both of these effects may be resisted by spirits of higher essence than the Lunar with an opposed Essence roll, with the exception of water elementals and ocean spirits, who cannot resist the Lunar's beckoning light. Finally, any darkness penalties within this range are neutralized, including any kind of magical or supernatural darkness.

Comments

I like these. At least, those that're done - would you mind if I integrated the effects into my Lunars' Socialize trees? I'm somewhat leery of a scene-long automatic success adder, however. ~ BerserkSeraph

Sure, go for it! And yeah, I'm a little leery of it myself, I was flip-flopping between 2 motes a die and 3, so I think I'm just going to bump it up to 3. Alternately, I was considering paring it down to the water elemental auto-successes instead. Hmm... I'll update it when I finish off the rest of these charms, either way.

(edit) Oh, too hell with it, I'll update it now. ~ AppleDog
