Martial Arts styles for the Orichalcum Caste Alchemicals



Way of the Hammer Style (Darzoni)

The hammer requires strength to use, knowledge of the metal being manipulated, and the intellect to see the end result of the metal being shaped. The Orichalcum caste Alchemicals developed this style to strike harder, throw false moves, and foresee their enemy’s motions.

This form isn’t compatible with any armor, but is compatible with any weapon the Alchemical can use.

Using the hammer as a tool requires a precise vision of what shape is needed, and the blows used to created that shape. Such is the understanding of cause and effect that the Alchemical can see his opponent’s moves easier when trying to avoid them. When active, this Charm allows the Alchemical to add his Essence rating to his Dodge and Parry attempts for a number of rounds equal to his Essence rating. This charm only works against attacks that the character is aware of.

The use of the hammer emphasizes strength, technique, and vision. While this Charm is active, the Alchemical adds a number of dice equal to his Essence rating to his accuracy on attacks he makes. He also gains the benefit of Vision Of The Shape Method and Hammer On Anvil Method, which cannot be Comboed with this Charm.


Incessant Hammering at the Forge Technique

Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
Type: Simple
Duration: Instant
Minimum Strength, Intelligence, and Manipulation: 4

Prerequisites: Way of the Hammer Form

Like the blacksmith at his forge hammering out a new sword, the Exalted repeatedly strikes his opponent with many fierce blows. When this Charm is activated, the Alchemical’s form blurs and leaves afterimages on the eyes from moving so quickly. He may make a number of attacks equal to (Essence + Willpower)+Weapon Accuracy against one target only. These attacks must be all of the same type. IE: You cannot activate this charm and make both a Martial Arts attack and a Melee attack, they must all be either Martial Arts or Melee. The attacks are so swift that the opponent can only his Dexterity to avoid the blows. This Charm cannot be applied to ranged attacks.


Rock-Splitting Hammer Blow Technique

Cost: 8 motes
Type: Simple
Duration: Instant
Minimum Strength, Intelligence, and Manipulation: 4
Minimum Charms: 5

Hammers, if used properly, can break rocks. So too, the Alchemical Exalt can defeat the most mundane of armor. When this Charm is used, the Alchemical strikes against his opponent’s armor rather than his body. Roll the attack as normal, except for the damage. The number of successes on a Strength roll reduces the armor’s lethal and bashing soak by that much, to a minimum of 0. Should both the lethal and bashing soak of an armor be reduced to 0, the armor has been broken or otherwise rendered useless. This Charm does not work on armor made of the Five Magical Materials.


Essence Shaping Form

Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
Type: Reflexive
Duration: One scene
Minimum Strength, Intelligent, and Manipulation: 5
Minimum Charms: 6
Prerequisites: Incessant Hammering At The Forge Technique, Rock-Splitting Hammer Blow Technique

The most skilled of smiths can forge the Magical Materials and Essence itself. The Alchemical emulates this, manipulating the Essence of others for a deadly effect. While this Charm is active, the character adds his Essence + Willpower to his damage. Additionally, each successful health level of damage inflicted by the character drains motes from his opponent equal to his Essence. This effect targets Peripheral Essence first, then drains Personal Essence. Should an opponent be drained to 0 Personal Essence this way, they fall unconscious, regardless of how many health levels they have.
