StarHawk/BeforeSunset
Nel arrived out of breath. Her hands fumbled for the latch and she fell breathing heavily against the door. She pulled her blindfold from her face panting. Her brain wouldn't stop, she made list after list of what she wanted to get done before she left.
Death's Keeper, as the door closed spoke up. "Hello there my love"
Nel jumped at the sound of his voice, all her lists are forgotten. She hardly waited for him to finish speaking before she started. "They want to go to Luthe, some first age city that's underwater... they want to disappar for a decade..."
"When must you go?" He seemed surprizingly calm about all this.
"They leave tonight, we're going to do some training or something... and no one seems conserned that we'll be gone for so long..." She was still a little out of breath, and for some reason wanted to be by him. She got up and slowly moved to the bed where he sat, she placed her blondfold on the bedside table.
"Why trainig all of a sudden?" He casually welcomed her to his arms, this familiar feeling, this is what he returned to her for.
"The enemy, who ever it is, has killed more than a dozen lunars... They think if we leave and train for up to a decade we'll be strong enough..." She rested her head on his shoulder and breathed in his scent. It reminded her of the ocean. "The grand lunar, the snake had plans for this all along. Leviathan was planning this all along..." She began to tense up with anger.
"Hmmm..its ok my love" He huged her tightly, his thoughts floated back and fourth between her and his revenge.
Nel relaxed in his arms. "I... I wanted to see you before we left." She kissed his cheek lightly.
"Dont worry I will spend all the time you want me to before you go." Death's Keeper kisseed her forehead. He rested his head on hers and stared out the window. He wondered if Kye and the others would return to the ship before they left...
"You can't come with us?" She hugged him closer, feeling him next to her gave her a sense of stability.
"No...I have no choice" He sighed. "I'm affraid we will have to be apart for quite some time, but I will wait for you" He lifted her up and into his lap, her head still rested on his shoulder. It felt like an eternity since he'd been this close to her.
Nel sighed. She nodded. "I will come to you as often as I can. They speak of leaving and comeing to surface occasionally... I could come to see you." Nel enjoyed being curled up against him again.
"Perfect" Death's Keeper slept with her and spends the rest of the day with her talking. Nel stays by his side all day, curled up on his lap she writes letters back to her dear friend Miojuian back home. The letter, discarded after completion sat ontop her blindfold on the bedside table...
Death's Keeper moments before sunset her holds her tightly, kisses her once more "Goodbye my love, I will see you again as soon as is possible, be strong and protect yourself" he leaves through the window. Nel stays curled in her bed and holds herself. A light knocking and Kye's voice roused her from her daze.
"Ready to go, Nel?" Kye offered gently as he opened the door. "It's almost sunset."
Before the door was fully open Nel was on her feet and tying her blindfold in place. "Yes, almost. There is this letter I would need sent." She picked up the letter and headed out into the dying sun.
