Maylin/Conversation

Maylin: *she tosses and turns in her bed, wanting to strangle Pathian, but glad that he told them about the roof at the same time. With a growl, she wraps a sheet around herself and leaves her room to find Alabaster*

Alabaster Chimes: After quite a while of searching, she finally finds him on the upper limit of the area inhabited by the Dragon Kings. He is lying on the ground, his face composed in the innocence of sleep. In his shroud and bandages, with his white skin and hair, he looks almost like a corpse

Maylin: *bites her lip as she approaches, afraid of waking him*

Alabaster Chimes: Alabaster Chimes seems blissfully ignorant of Maylin's presence

Maylin: *kneels down carefully and touches his shoulder gently* CHimes-kun? *her voice a whisper*

Alabaster Chimes: You hear a whisper behind you, and what sounds like a soft rasp

Maylin: *turns around to look behind her quickly*

Alabaster Chimes: A man in armor stands behind you with a drawn sword. His features are composed, but somewhat ethereal--you can see the wall faintly through his body. He is wearing full armor of a style you're unfamiliar with, and looking at you with a slightly menacing expression

Maylin: *begins moving away, careful not to make a sound, keeping her eyes on his face*

Alabaster Chimes: The man opens his mouth, and speaks. The voice is hollow, like he's calling from the bottom of a well, but audiable. "What business do you have with the master?"

Maylin: Master? Oh, you serve him...I didn't know. I'm sorry, I just wanted to talk to him. I didn't mean to cause any trouble....

Alabaster Chimes: "Dancer," says the voice of Alabaster Chimes from behidn you, "don't worry. I'm fine."

Alabaster Chimes: The man in armor's face hardens a moment, then he makes a slight bow, and fades away like mist in the morning

Maylin: *looks back at him over her shoulder*

Maylin: I didn't mean to startle anyone...much less anyone like him...It's just...umm...

Alabaster Chimes: Alabaster smiles. "It's okay, May-dono."

Maylin: *tries to hide her disappointment* I was having trouble sleeping.

Alabaster Chimes: Alabaster frowns a moment, then pats the ground next to him. "What was wrong?"

Maylin: *sits next to him* Your face, when I told you about what Zen and I were trying to accomplish.

Alabaster Chimes: "I..." He looks at the ground for a moment, then is silent

Maylin: you were going to say something, then Pathian interrupted us.

Alabaster Chimes: "No. It was you who was speaking to me. About your memories..."

Maylin: *nods* I've known since Calebration...but you had memories too

Alabaster Chimes: He looks up at Maylin with his odd silver eyes. "Yes...meeting all of you opened up the floodgate. I have not told Walker in Darkness about them yet..."

Maylin: So you plan on ignoring them?

Alabaster Chimes: "I..." He pauses. "I don't know what to do about them. I only know that they are important, and that Walker in Darkness would be displeased if he knew about them."

Maylin: Without a doubt. *looks down* I'm sorry.

Alabaster Chimes: "For what?"

Maylin: helping to open the floodgate, waking you up just because I can't make my mind stop...very foolish...

Alabaster Chimes: "What are you thinking about, May-chan?"

Maylin: That, right there. How excited I got when you called me it, and how much it hurt to ask you not to since I'm..well...trying to marry the Daimyo

Alabaster Chimes: He pauses a moment, looking down at the floor. "Yes..."

Maylin: I thought you were going to say something, but Pathian came down to the fire

Alabaster Chimes: "No." He looks up. "I understand the call of duty better than you know. I know that you do what you have to."

Maylin: I don't want to. But I'm thankful you understand duty.

Alabaster Chimes: "Better than you know..."

Maylin: *looks at him with a raised brow* something you want to share?

Alabaster Chimes: He smiles. "There is a saying in Sijan. 'Duty is heavier than a mountain, death lighter than a feather.' "

Maylin: that makes sense to me. *sighs softly* so that's it?

Alabaster Chimes: "Do you wish me to rage against fate? Do you want me to change your mind and carry you off into the sunset where we can be together?"

Maylin: *blushes and looks away* of course not. That would be even more foolish than I already am. Forgive me for waking you.

Alabaster Chimes: "It is no matter." He pauses. "Are you going to sleep now?"

Maylin: No. There's no point now. I have peace talks in the morning and all I can hope is that I will be able to mediate long enough to regain some Essence. The way my life has started going, I'll sleep well when I'm dead.

Alabaster Chimes: Alabaster Chimes laughs slightly. "There is peace in death..."

Maylin: *touches her chest and flinches* only in some I think...but you would know better than I.

Alabaster Chimes: "If you need help sleeping, Falling Rain can provide it."

Maylin: *opens her mouth, closes it, then speaks* kind of you, but I'll be all right. I shouldn't have let Chase finish my tea.

Alabaster Chimes: He raises an eyebrow.

Maylin: *shakes her head* still the thoughts of a little girl coming through

Alabaster Chimes: "What was in the tea?"

Maylin: just something to help me sleep. I guess you didn't notice how high strung I was...

Maylin: Zen gave up her chance at love too, that's why she had some too.

Alabaster Chimes: He sighs.

Maylin: sorry, I'll let you sleep. *her tone joking* unless you want me to stay

Alabaster Chimes: "That would not help your plans." His voice is back to its usual place--placid and concerned...but not involved.

Maylin: *looks at him, then, silent, she gets up and heads out*

Maylin: *goes to Zen’s room and curls up next to her, sobbing softly* Why does it have to hurt so much?
