The Book of Lethys incorporates campaign summaries and notes from my current tabletop game centered around the exploration of Rathess. Those involved are encouraged to include their own insights beneath the relevant entry, naming themselves with a third-step header. Spectators are welcome to comment beneath the horizontal divider.

Session One

From the Book of Lethys, the Watcher of Rathess

This day the streets are heavy with the footsteps of outsiders, more than recent memory recalls. Two expeditions have come to Rathess, each in opposition to the other.

It must be recorded that Tepet Metra has returned once again, and this time she has brought Warstriders, sledgehammers and a number of her Immaculate brethren. It seems she is determined to pursue her agenda of ‘cleansing’ until she is dead or the city bows to her will. She has returned to her habitual campsite in the Human octad, although she will find it much changed since she last left.

The other group is considerably smaller, and they tell tales of having lost almost half their number in the trek from Port Hopeless. That so many mortals, mortals so obviously unsuited to the wilds, survived such a journey is probably due to the fact that they travel with four of the Golden Lights, although one continues to hide his true nature from the others. This group has made their base just off the plaza that surrounds Relza’s ruined tower. What the presence of so many Golden Lights could mean cannot be known, but they are sure to oppose Metra’s orthodoxy.

In the days to come there will be much to record. This much is certain.

Session Two

From the Book of Lethys, Watcher of Rathess

It must be recorded that hammers have begun to rise and fall in the Human Octad. The enchantments bound into them are unrecognizable, but it is certain that the Dragons rejoice at each and every strike. With each blow that lands the sign or sigil of another God is erased. The damage that can be done in her current location is limited, the Unconquered Sun has not laid his hand upon the land for uncounted years, but sooner or later Tepet Metra will move on to sites dedicated to those who can less afford to loose them. She moves without care for what attention she may attract, and this may be her downfall.

In the meantime the Golden Lights have discovered a great treasure. Chance placed their encampment near the skyship that once belonged to Pleasant Clouds, and they have spent much time concerning themselves with it. Although she cannot read the controls or understand the craft’s speech Domina Nightfall has demonstrated a remarkable faculty with it’s mechanisms. Only a few of them function in the craft’s current state of disrepair, but she has already mastered most of the vessel’s monitoring devices. Davion of Cherak displays a remarkable affinity for the wildlife that infest the rear sections, and thus far there have been no attacks. The Mass, to their sorrow, is immune to his talents. Alakra Magpie has cleared away most of the outer reaches, where the tendrils are sluggish or still obey the dictates laid upon them by their makers, but the Mass itself still resist him. Though he can do it harm, if he is careful, he is not yet potent enough that it cannot simply regenerate the damage while he sleeps or eats. If the battle must be won by attrition it will be lengthy and uncertain.

The Golden Way is quiet for now, but that cannot last. Newcomers always rouse a response of some sort. Always.
