Aspects of Bone
Bone survives. It gives strength to a living body and is the last lingering remnant of the dead corpse; it protects the fragile viscera, and as fangs and claws it deals death itself to those who oppose its guardianship. Strong as steel and as implacable, it nonetheless is not brittle as steel may be – steel must be reforged by another's hand, but bone will knit itself together. Indomitable and unrelenting, bone is simultaneously a guardian and a murderer.
A Bone-aspected Deathwyrm values silence, swift justice and the pleasure of seeing a obstacle overcome with a finality worthy of the grave. Relentlessness personified, a Bonewyrm will tirelessly hunt down a fugitive, guard the palaces and tombs of their lieges, and dispense the harshest of punishments without a flicker of regret. To survive despite all odds is to find favor in the eyes of the Silent wardens; to understand the darkness of the world in order to use it as a weapon against greater darkness is to understand the nature of Bone.
The Fangs of Eset are the left hand of the Pale-Scaled Host, dealing out silent death and lesser punishments according to their own grim codes. As guardians without peer, their nature is to be ever-vigilant; and a Bonewyrm is always aware of their own path and purpose, however tangled it may appear to outsiders. Be it as hoarders of forbidden gifts or hunters of men, the Fangs hold themselves at a remove from the clamor all around them, their ivory armor snugly shuttered around their half-dead hearts. Tradition and innovation are used and discarded as necessary – for a Silent warden it is the result that counts. So long as the fang survives to continue in their chosen tasks, they are darkly content.
In their implacable nature and unending hunt in the justification of their beliefs, the Fangs of Eset serve as harriers, bodyguards and executioners in both the literal and figurative sense. Their actions remind the living to take caution in their own lives, and the remind the dead that improper behavior is seldom tolerated.
- The Dual Monarchy: (to be completed)
- Aspect Markings: Aspects of Bone tend towards a distinctively ivory complexion and a lean, angular frame with prominent bone-structure. Their hair may also tend towards an ivory-white, especially in elder Lindwurms. Those of greater Essence or Breeding often develop bony spurs or plates in their flesh; the greatest of the Lindwurms often appear sheathed in a bony carapace formed of their own flesh.
- Aspect Anima: When a Bone-aspected Deathwyrm spends Peripheral Essence, their anima prickles to life in a wan ivory glow, the haze filled with hinted-at sharp edges like fangs and splinters of bone. With a truly spectacular expenditure of Essence a Bone-Aspect's anima erupts with phantasms of scorpions, gnashing jaws, lindwurms or ivory talons, accompanied by the clattering of dry bones.
- Aspect Abilities: Creatures of relentlessness and implacability, Aspects of Bone are well-versed in the skills of grim necessity and the unforeseen hunter. They possess a natural affinity with the Abilities of Archery, Investigation, Resistance, Stealth and Survival.
