A pair of bracers especially designed to provide the knowledge and ability to use the Craft Ability in all ways possible.Seiraryu/CraftBracers/I>
Garien sighed. His shop was finally open. Of course, many people were impressed (and somewhat suspicious) of a man that claimed he could make anything. He'd just finished painting his sign when a young lady approached, a long dress and several beautiful bracelets and necklaces. She had long, black hair and he skin was a beautiful shade of pale. She tapped his shoulder gently and the large man spun around looking down at the lady with a raised brow. Garien himself was immense, with thick fingers and a bulging stomach. No one without the speed of a gazelle would dare say he was -fat.- Especially because of the great strength he was known to possess.
The young lady smiled in an obvious attempt to seem less intimidated than she actually was despite the fact that Garien had a large, welcoming and friendly smile upon his rough face, his beard stretching with his lips. "And how can I help -you,- m'lady?" His callused hands were made for forging weapons, and the displays inside his shop were meant to show his prowess in that field.
The girl's voice was simple, feminine to a fault as she raised her eyes to him and tried to smile wider even though the act of craning her neck so high seemed to hurt. "I was wondering if it is true that you can make anything."
Garien grinned even wider. "For sure, m'lady. What would you like made?"
"I need an amulet like this one." She held up a beautiful, inctricateltly made amulet that was obviously made to impress nobility. "The last jeweler I asked made me a copy... but it was truly less than I was expecting."
Garien nodded softly, taking the amulet in his rough hands and looking it over without much care, certainly not the care of a man who works with jewelry for a living. "Yes, I do believe I can make it. Come back in two days, yes?"
She nodded, thanked him and went on her way.
Garien walked back into his shop, sighing once more. Well, he may not know how to replicate the amulet -now,- but in a few moments that wouldn't be an issue. Opening the chest where he kept them, the large smithy raised his bracers from their resting place and put them on one at a time with great care. "Time to go to work," he mumbled, as the golden Essence flared at his forehead and the bracers fused themselves to the craftman's soul, gifting him with the knowledge he needed.
System
These bracers, though common in the First Age, were all but lost, it seemed, to the Second Age. However, when a Zenith Caste Craftman found a Manse deep in the heat of the South, hope for them were renewed, as he found crafting books that had recorded techniques an information on how to make several Artifacts, the least common of all the Craftman's Talent Bracers.
The Craftman's Talent Bracers are made of orichalcum (originally) and the ground finger bones of an excellent deceased craftsman. They have a setting for one Hearthstone in the right bracer, while the other bracer attunes the bearer into the fundemental and complicated arts of the Craft Ability. By committing 6 motes of Essence --3 for each bracer--- the bearer can effectively gain four dice in any version of the Craft Ability he wishes for the length of time he is willing to commit the Essence. This can add to an already possessed Craft Ability, or simply gift the bearer with the knowledge and talent of being able to create things he normally would not have the ability to.
In this manner, a jeweler with Crafts (Jewelry) 4, may gain 4 extra dice --making it Crafts (Jewelry) 8-- to his jewel-crafting, or for the time he's willing to commit the Essence, he may gain Crafts (Smithing) 4, or Crafts (Pottery) 4. These bonuses apply only to endevours undertaken personally. A Crafter may have an apprentice (like most smithies) but he may not be part of a larger work force (like construction workers).
