Fasherai, the Cast-Off Revelation ([[[FourWillowsWeeping]]])

When Trespan tears out his eyes, they become the Fasherai, orbs of vision that roll gruesomely across the land, or walk, or fly, as each chooses. One who tears out one of his own eyes and places one of these in its place will have an eye that sees the Truth, but not the glittering Truth unobscured by opinion and doubt. The Fasherai, torn by their love of the Lord That Rejected, are capable of seeing only darkness and pain and hope for restoration; they slowly pass their madness on to one who takes them.

Fasherai, the Wandering Gaze

The Fasherai are nothing more than a single eyeball, scuttling across the land on a tangle of nerve and blood vessels. They do not speak, but at times they do congregate, forming masses of eyes of all types and swivel and stare at each other, exchanging glances at once ineffable and all-explaining. Occasionally, though, its pupil widens, or facets split, and it swallows with a toothy maw creatures many times its own size.

A sorceror may take one under his charge, sacrificing his own eye that the Fasherai replace it. The beast settles in confortably, and in time it is as though the spellcaster had no other; it grows to resemble its partner, and none can tell the difference with their own mortal eyes. Certain charms can see them, of course, and one Fasherai always recognizes its sisters. The Fasherai can extend their charms and abilities to their master, or even place both essence pool and charms at the master's call. This bond, if established, only works both ways, though, and is part of the negotiations by any canny sorceror, lest his new eye use him more than he it.

This camoflague suffers, though, as its wielder expends essence; at first, the differences are cosmetic; perhaps the pupil stretches to become catlike. By the time the anima has become iconic, the eye is insidiously demonic, deforming the socket it sits in as it grows to grotesque proportions and champing at the bit from within its socket as the ambient essence excites it.
