Castle Skullstone and the Skullstone Archipelago

The Skullstone Archipelago has never been a very nice place. It was once the capital of an entire western province, but it wasn't very pleasant, so it tended to be a bit of a punishment to be assigned as governor. It's last Governor, Brinbach Zor, was one of the most crazed of the late Harem Age Bishonen, who built Castle Skullstone, carving an old volcano into the shape of a giant skull with his vast powers. He chained together the local manses into the castle, creating an extremely potent defense system for his province.

When he was murdered by the Magical Girls, the system mowed down the Magical Girls and most of the locals. The survivors found, however, that the castle now fiercely defended the prefecture at the heart of the province (namely the isles now called Skullstone). The locals became pirates, raiding up and down the Grand Line and retreating to their safe base with the castle defending them.

During the Chaos Plague, the entire prefecture became a giant shadowland from the carnage. The survivors soon fell under the rule of the Skeletal Lord, who emerged from the Underworld to rule over the area, though some of the survivors fled east to the Coral Archipelago. What emerged was a stand-off. The Neo-Empress discovered herself unable to remove the shadowland, while her forces and the power of Area 51 were enough to stop any attempt by the Skeletal Lord to break out. The result was the confinement of the Skeletal Lord for 700 years to his Shadowland.

But now, the way is open for him to finally take his revenge...

The Skullstone Archipelago has long been a refuge for freaks, weirdos, Wyld mutants, stragglers from other game universes and other things which are neither desirable nor cute. The Dead took control centuries ago, and now people are eager warriors because they know they're REALLY better off dead. The armies and navies of the 'Skullstone Empire' use zombies and skeletons as cannon fodder, humans and war ghosts as the main foot soldiers, and the 'Freak Legion' as the elite forces. The Freak Legion is a mixture of extremely strong ghosts, Wyld mutants, insane fair folk, beastmen, spirits and things that should not be. All are given their own personal title by the Skeletal Lord and will remind you of it, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Certain rumors claim that the key to the Castle Skullstone defenses have been stolen by the enigmatic Bishonen Manli who has been operating in this part of the Grand Line over the last year, and that the Skeletal Lord would give anything to get the key back, as without it, even he can't exploit the system.

Rumors are, of course, treason.
