History
Ambika was born in a village that had recently been consumed by a shadowland, and her father was a ghost. She is not entirely sure how she came to be, but she had never truly cared. Ever since she was young, Ambika rarey spent time with the living, usually preferring to stay with the ghosts and the shadowlands... she spent so much time between them that it's perhaps no surprise that she finds Creation to be unconfortable.
Surrounded by ghosts and the dead, Ambika grew to be a cold, distant girl. She has never known true love, true happiness, or... any true feelings. The Underworld is a bleak place, but it is the only home she knows. She served her father faithfully and quietly, and was even ready to the time when she would take her own life to become a ghost herself... and then the Lover Clad in Rainment's Tears came.
The Deathlord came to the place she called home and amassed a force of the dead for one reason or another, and there was none that dared oppose her. The few living in the shadowlands were given off to her Deathknights to do as they wished. Ambika, along with a few other people, were given over to the Shadow of the Glorious Dead, a Daybreak and a necromancer.
The ghost blooded showed no emotion when her companions were carried off, one by one, to serve in one experiment or other. The others cried, some begged, some were resigned, but she never showed any emotion... she didn't know what to feel.
When it was her turn, the Deathknight came to her, and gazed at her with curiosity... the girl still showed no emotion whatsoever, she might as well have been a corpse. Having not met with such a person before, the Shadow addressed her.
"Why are you not crying or begging for your life? You will die soon... does this thought not frighten you?"
Ambika evenly gaze up at the woman and replied. "I have death in my blood, and would have died in a few years by my own hand. I don't know if I should be afraid it will occur earlier by your hand."
Suitably amused by the answer, the Shadow sat down and continued her questions to the girl... she wanted to know more about the apparently unfeeling ghost-blooded in front of her. Ambika answered all her questions truthfully and calmly. The Deathknight learned about the suicide ritual, the life of the girl, and everything she cared to know. Finally, she chuckled.
"And what is your name, girl?"
"Ambika, ma'am."
"Very well." With that, the Shadow stood. "You shall not die today, nor shall you kill herself as you would have done. Know that I am the Shadow of the Glorious Dead, and my liege has given you to me to play with as I see fit. Thus, I am your master, and you shall only die when I allow it. You shall serve me, and I might be bothered to protect you." She extended her hand to Ambika. "And now, my little ghost, come and see what I have done with your former companions. You ahev much to learn if you are to serve me well."
Ambika looked at the woman for a few moments, and for a second, felt confusion, until she finally took the hand of her new master and followed her to see the monstruosities that had been the living in her village once. She felt nothing, and, as her master taught her how it had been done, she only nodded and learned.
In the following months, the Shadow how aided Ambika in awakening her essence, and has even found the patience to teach the girl about necrosurgery and even martial arts... the latter of which she has become fairly proficient in. The Deathknights finds herself surprisingly protective of the young ghost-blooded... as for her, Ambika has since began to experiment with real emotions, as her master is much mroe passionate than the ghosts she once lived in.
Personality
At first sight, there's not much to tell about Ambika. She seems to go through life rather blandly, and has always been good at following orders. She rarely smiles... or cries, or frowns, or reacts to much of anything in anyway, really. She doesn't appear to have any hobbies, anything she likes, dislikes, or even fears. How can you fear anything if you have always known your fate is Death?
But... lately, things have begun to change. Her mistress, the Shadow of the Glorious Dead, is a creature or real feelings and passions, unlke the ghosts that raised her. Despite whatever coldness the Deathknight might desplay, she still has deep feelings about somethings... like Nexus, for example. Even the young ghost-blood frowns a bit when Nexus comes up in a conversation now.
The tame and quiet girl has begun developing actual feelings, and these... confuse her. She's not sure what is it that she feels towards her mistress now, other than she wishes to spend more time around her and quickly gets bored when she's out in a mission on Creation, a place she cannot visit. She's nice and attentive whenever her mistress explains things to her, and has learned quite a bit.
Notably, while Ambika doesn't like violence too much, and isn't all that strong physically, she has taken well to Martial Arts, even better than she has about the art of Necrosurgery. Somewhere deep inside her, she hates the fact that she cannot practice the Hungry Ghost charms... and so she settles for studying dutifully under her mistress.
Appearance
Ambika is a young woman, fairly pretty but very very pale, and who honestly looks like she'd fall over from a strong breeze. Looks can be deceptive, however, and while she's certainly not in top physical shape, she's plenty tougher than she looks. Ambika's eyes are black, while her hair is a pale gray, reaching down to the middle of her back, but usually held up in a bun.
Ambika has always favored black clothes, and tends to be fairly old fashioned. She will often cover her face with a veil when not in private or with her mistress. If she absolutely must step into Creation, she will always carry a black umbrella... the light of the sun bothers her. She mostly prefers the dark.

Flaws
Denizen of Beyond (7)
Perhaps it was that she was born and raised in the Shadowlands, or maybe it was always so, but Ambika cannot survive in Creation for long. It will drain her Essence quickly, and she will die if she stays there too long.
Alien Upbringing (2)
Ambika was raised by ghosts, so while she can pretend to understand the living, she rarely does. Also, she comes off as cold and detached most of the time, which just bothers people.
Sun-Seared (2) (1 point wasted due to 10 Points in Flaws maximum)
Ambika simply does not take well to the light of the sun, which is why she carries her umbrella the prectect herself from its rays.
Merits
Blurred Fate (1)
Ambika's fate does not quite reside the Stars of Creation.
Awakened Essence (5)
While training under her master, Ambika has learned to tap into her Essence... but she has yet to learn how to manipulate it fully into her heritage's powers.
Deceptive Frailty (1)
Ambika looks weaker than she really is, which leads to people underestimating her.
Font of Despair (2)
Death means nothing to Ambika, she has never had any hope for living too long anyhow. However, recent developments may have changed this slightly... would she be able to seek relief in the beliefs she held just a short time ago still?
Deathwalker (4)
Ambika can easily see ghosts, even when they aren't materialized. She thinks nothing of this ability, as she has been able to see ghosts as far as she can remember.
Expanded Backgrounds
Inheritance: 1
Ambika's father is a ghosts, and while the ghost-blood might wonder how that came to pass from time to time, she finds that she doesn't care for that or for him.
Mentor: 3
Ambika follows the Shadow of the Glorious Dead, Daybreak Abyssal serving the Lover Clad in Rainment's Tears. She finds her strangely interesting, and thus seeks to spend as much time as she can around her. The Shadow has taught her much as well, and is... somewhat less cold towards the young ghost-blood than she is towards the rest of the people.
The Deathknight has also issued a warning: Ambika is hers, and anybody that wishes to harm her will answer to her. Answer will come in the form of necrosurgery and soulforging. It won't be pretty.
Such warning doesn't apply to the Lover, of course, but the Deathlord has better things to do than messing with her Deathknight's toy.
Resources: 2
Ambika has been given a generous ammount of resources by her mistress. She doesn't have too much use for it, but is grateful nontheless.
