Moxiane:\\ Maybe it's our year that is out of synch? They've hidden 60.25 days from us and it's only now that we're becoming aware of them. What happens in those missing 8-1/2 weeks, I wonder?
Seriously, I ignore it. DB pregnancies take a year, that means she's carrying for 15 months, an 18-yo in Creation is the same as an 18-yo here, etc...
Much easier.
Moxiane pretty much has it right. "Three Score and Ten is the Life of Man" - it's seventy years, not 2,207,520,000 seconds or whatever. A year is a year is a year.
A man is born, by fifteen or sixteen he is serving in the military, or has taken up a journeyman's trade, by twenty he is married and likely has a child, and should he survive so long, through fire, plague, storm and war, by 50-60 he's likely doting and dependent on his children and grand-children, and by 70 he has gone on to join the other Honorable Ancestors of his family.
In the more advanced societies, those with means can stretch that time out, and generally lifespans are somewhat longer than we think of as average for a medieval society, thanks to advanced knowledge of basic hygiene, civil engineering (including sanitation), contagion control procedures (quarantine, etc.) and basic concepts of healthy diet etc. - actual implementation of those things varies widely from place to place, however - the Realm is pretty good about it, while Nexus seems like it's a filthy pit of plague waiting to happen - but even there, there are Edicts in place to prevent the most egregious of utter stupidity.
