Supernatural Flaws
Apprehensive Anima -- GregLink
2-4 pt Supernatural Flaw
Prerequisites: Night Caste Anima Ability
While the Solar shard is a perfect, flawless thing, a member of the Night Caste with this flaw might often be frustrated by the 'timidity' of his Anima banner. With strong memories of its past lives, even if the Solar himself doesn't remember them, the anima has taken it upon itself to protect the fledgling Solar in the best way it can - by keeping his true nature a secret, at all times. A character with this flaw must always spend peripheral essence through the Night Caste ability to keep his anima silent, and thus will never show a caste mark or anima flare through normal charm use. If desired, a single personal mote of essence may be spent as in the normal fashion to force such a glow.
The two point variant of this flaw requires all 'transitory' peripheral essence spent to employ the Night Caste ability, but effects committed with peripheral essence are still on a 1-for-1 basis. This reduces the characters ability to spend essence quickly, in dangerous situations, but allows them to keep more long-term effects active and attune artifacts more easily. The three point version of this flaw allows the character to use peripheral essence for the purpose of attuning artifacts, but committed charms require the full double-cost-commitment, while the four point version effectively halves the character's peripheral essence pool for all respects. As with many flaws, it may be bought off during play, but doing so will most likely require demonstrating to one's own subconscious that publicly being known as a Solar is safe once again.
Just a note. But anima abilities aren't commited. Thus, if I throw up Blade of the Battle maiden with the night anima for 40 motes, 2 WP. Only 20 motes are commited. - Scrollreader Who still thinks the latter flaw is worth it, because it drains essence fast.
