Concept: Anatomy of an Eclipse
Original Concept Description
- "Set is best described by this irony: a person shaped by large abstractions who finds wisdom in details. Some might describe it as a "here and the now way of looking at the bigger picture." To Set, her methods are more of a "path of practicality leading to a constantly shifting deeper point." In other words, the basis of my character concept is temperate spontaneousness. It isn't quite insanity, nor calculated wisdom. Its self-honesty, the ability to remain in tune with one's existence, and dynamic aesthetic, the ability to find enjoyment in new and unfounded things."
After thoughts
- Although it is easy for me to ramble away about all of my ideas relative to Set's inner psychology (as Sorrowful Wind already knows~), the most concise explanation of above involves her highest virtue: Temperance. Relative to Set, temperance means self control, emotional maturity, and a natural, though not entirely rational, prioritization of her interests. However, the paradox is this: Set is highly impulsive. She is not afraid of doing what she wants, nor does she display a highly visible level of humbleness. This is because Set is so highly in tune with her own nature that she is able to make decisive, difficult decisions without hesitation or regret. Miraculousily, these decisions have been long-term effective in her own interests. In theory, this means that she possesses a very acute foresight. In reality, Set makes mistakes, but she does not take herself seriousily enough to find herself trapped within them.
- To a large extent, Set is detached from both rational and emotional consciousness. It is not blindness or a lack of understanding; quite the contrary, Set is well versed in their value through expression and articulation, rather, she is constantly perceptive of her insticts, and so she channels them directly. As she might put it, "I just don't bother justifying myself."
- Aside from her philosophical design, Set has a very distinguishable personality, made up of layers of typical Solar eccentricism. Token is her misplaced maternal instincts, manifesting in a curious interest in other's emotional health. Common also is her inexplicable ramblings and observations, often times so vague that they might pass as conversations with herself, if it were not for the direction at someone else. Less known talents include a resistance to boredom, a mastery of dancing, a familiarity with musicianship, and an incredibly versatile singing voice.
