-Canopy Spider Web Gloves, Lv 1 - A knotted bunch of thin, nearly transparent webbing from a strange type of Haltan essence using spider, shaped and cured by the Haltans for dangerous treetop missions. The webbing is shaped in such a way as to fit onto 2 5-fingered hands in a netlike way. By touching or wearing the webs, concentrating in a manner taught to all Haltans, and spending a point of Willpower, tree spider webs can be made to stick to trees and other woden surfaces for the remainder of the scene. In this state, and when fit properly onto the hand, these web gloves allow a wearer to stick securely to any wooden surface. In this way, many haltans have quickly averted fatal falls from high branches. Another Willpower Point may be spent to cause the webs to lose their stickiness before the scene's end. For essence users the gloves are more potent, for all the gloves really require to work properly is directed essence. Any essence user who commits 3 motes to the gloves gains enhanced control over the stickiness of the gloves for the remainder of the scene, and can use them to climb trees with hightened proficiency. Mechanically, attuned gloves provide an automatic success to tree-climbing rolls and negate the effects of a simple botch. Additionally, add add 2 successes to the roll to avoid disarm when using weapons with a woden handle. The Str + Ath DC to break the binding of the webbing is 4, and the stickiness is sufficnient to break most falls, and even to cach another person, probably. But there's only so much weight they can hold. (450 lbs).
