Description

Most, who set eyes on Whispers of the Broken Temple, see a large shadowy figure, seemingly more than eight feet tall but hunched over, almost walking on all fours like a great ape or some other great beast. When the viewer gets closer to the figure, he realizes that most of the Deathlord is covered in a dark cloak of some light swallowing fabric with no reflections or even shadows showing on its surface. Only the hands and face, if one can call it that can be glimpsed under the dark hood. On his hands Whispers of the Broken Temple wears what appears to be intricately wrought soulsteel gloves, decorated beautifully with white jade and orichalcum. The fingertips are long slender nail like, making the Deathlord’s metallic claws look like the slender gloved hands of a woman. By gently waving and gesturing while he is wearing these gloves, the Deathlord can hypnotize and pacify those opposing him, weakening their wills and initiative.

The face, when seen, is covered with an equally beautiful Soul steel mask, again decorated beautifully with white jade and orichalcum. The mask portrays the face of some bestial god, a hybrid of dragon and man; with soul steel daggers radiating out from like the mane of a great beast. The mane is often hidden beneath the hood. The lower part of the mask, the jaw moves when the deathlord speaks, giving the otherwise rigid mask a strange seeming of life. The mouth is filled with long dagger like teeth, soul steel with white jade like the mane. Deep in the eyeholes of the beautiful, yet terrifying mask one can glimpse the only part of the Deathlord himself, bloodshot yellow eyes, again like that of a great beast.

Mostly, the deathlord paces soundlessly among his followers like some great predator, his body obscured by his cloak. As a strange contrast to his otherwise beastial appearance, the voice of the Deathlord is deep and soft as silk and most are enchanted with if after hearing just one or two words.

Once or twice, however, Whispers of the Broken Temple have risen to his full height and thrown his cloak down. Underneath the dark fabric is the large muscular body of a man, but mangled and torned as if by some great force of nature. The soul steel gauntlets are segmented like a reptile's skin and run all the way to the middle of the upper arm, where they meet the deathlord's corpse white skin in a crash of sickly purple scars, as if they had been cruelly carved into the flesh.
