Thralls of Snow

At night...
The flames begun to die out. Ashes and corpses were everywhere.
The revolution was ending. And the good guys had won.

Days' heroic deeds were still fresh in her, the meeting with the angels that filled the sky, with Iron Tears in the body of a beautiful woman, the fight above a great dragon.

Now, a little squall fell over the Boil, and fires could be seen all around, along with ashes and bodies... as the fighting began to calm down.

Child of Wyld Days: The stench of dead and burning bodies, the towering flames, the ruined buildings and shattered streets were of little concern to Snow Monkey. She could easily ignore one, leap over the other. No, her quest was for the living; one man in particular... although she had it in her mind to look for another woman, whose Valor tasted of strength of purpose and dark hungers.

That taste lingered for a while, and she had found herself wanting to sample it again. Of course, that was if the woman (and the man, for that matter) were even still alive.

Now, girl... we mustn't lose hope! Our meal is but a lucky turn away...

  • She walks by, and near Highlane, she sees him. He has ditched the brown cape of a templar, he has ditched the symbols of the Bishop. Only dirty blonde hair and caramel eyes identify the man now, as he runs, trying to find a safe place...

Child of Wyld Days: A growl of hunger, desire rolls from her throat, and before she loses sight of him, she flows through the air like a javelin, coming to a stop right next to the man. "Finally! You are a hard one to find!" She waits there, crouched, eyes shining with amusement as she waits for the poor soul to reply. "Matters are done."

Messenger: The man yelps, staggering back, tripping and falling down, looking over to Days...

"They are... and... and we lost..."

"I thought they had killed you..."

Child of Wyld Days: "I do not like the idea of dying. So I don't."

Her laugh is loud, strong as she reaches over to get a grip on the man's shoulders; she rises, he rises with him thanks to her phenomenal strength. "But, joyous day, we are reunited at last! Now, I am going to need your help, however... there are others amongst your allies, workers of blood and poison and death. I met one, and she told me so much, I just had to see if she yet lived!" She hauls him closer, hugging tightly and shamelessly running her tongue along his earlobe. "... do you know anything that might help me find her, hm?"

Messenger: His voice is lost as he is pulled up, "Y... you said you would make me yours..."

"O-one of the T-thorns? I... I may know, pehaps..."

Child of Wyld Days: "You will be mine. You will indeed be mine. That will not change... I do not break my word. But I seek another. Lead me to what you know, and I will most certainly reward you." She lets the intent behind her words bounce around in his mind, before lowering him back down to the ground.

"Indeed, the faster we go, the sooner you... your reward comes."

Messenger: Caramel eyes go wide. His face turns a deep red, flushed in desire.

"Yes! Yes, I think I know of a place! She must have gone there, come on, come on!" He holds her arm and tries to push her, wanting to go faster, to get there soon.

And he leads her through the outskirts of Highlane, to a place on its edge... a big house, but all reinforced. The gates are broken wide open, however, people have been here already. despite a broken door, the house seems mostly intact...

Child of Wyld Days: She is indeed pushed (well, she allows herself to be pushed, anyway!) and led to this house. Once there, she gives it a long, wary look, and as much as she wishes to remain calm, her ears twitch a little. She is the tiniest bit wary of impending danger, even as she approaches the gate.

"A safehouse, yes?"

Messenger: "I heard the Thorns would be in here, yes! That is the only place I can think she would be in..."

He walks in, breaking quite a few pieces of the heavy wooden door.

  • As the wood cracks, the Child hears noises from the second floor, catching a glimpse of a sillhouette on the corner of her eye. Someone is on the second floor... and from the way the person ran, most probably scared. From the sound she made, most probably female.

Child of Wyld Days: "... heh."

She does not leap up to the second floor so much as she is simply there within the space of a moment, landing effortlessly and turning towards the figure running off. "Whoever you might be, it is in your best interest to not do anything rash. I mean no harm." I only wish to make new friends... honest!

  • She hears a movement as soon as she begins speaking, knocking something down.

    Then, there is silence.

Then, a well-known voice speaks up, scared, "R... really...?"

Child of Wyld Days: "Now, now. This foolish fight is over, and we have overcome. There is no more need for you to run and hide, young lady. Here, come. Show yourself." The Child waits, tail thumping on a crate and eyes shimmering in the shadow crossing her face. "I no longer seek your end."

Broken Thorn: The form of the tomboyish girl appears over the stairs then, slowly walking down...

Still terrified as she sees the Child of Wyld Days... her compatriots' bodies broken like dolls dancing on her mind...

Child of Wyld Days: She smirks, reaching out. Her posture is loose, relaxed, welcoming... inviting. "Now... now, you no longer have to run. I will find a place for you. All you need to do is take my hand, and we will leave this place. You... do want to be happy, yes? To live, to enjoy life? You are so young, and mortal life is so short..."

"... come. Come to me. I promise you, your life will never be the same."

Broken Thorn: She reaches with her hand... but stops in mid air, cringing.

"You... won't hurt me, will you?"

Child of Wyld Days: "Your body will come under no harm from me, my dear. I promise it." Your soul is mine, though. "The word of raksha is unbreakable. Trust in me... come, quickly." She motions her on, smiling just a bit more warmly.

Broken Thorn: She walks towards Days, still keeping her distance...

"Come... where?"

Messenger: The messenger rushes to the woman, pushing her by the arm, "Just come already! This is taking too damn long!"

Child of Wyld Days: "With me. You will need someone to protect you, yes? And you, my dear... some civility!" She sighs, looking at him with an expression of mild unhappiness--enough to convey her disapproval. Even still, she takes the time to offer her hand once more, quietly pouring forth every drop of Wyld allure she can muster. "With me, you will not have to run these streets in fear, nor will you face what would normally be your final judgment. Instead, you will be mine... and you will live."

You will live. For me.

Messenger: "So... sorry. I just can't wait anymore!" He says, trying not to look at her, like a scolded child.

Broken Thorn: "No fear...? With you...?"

Her voice seems to say but you brought the fear.

But she takes the hand as offered, anyway.

Child of Wyld Days: Snow Monkey closes her hand around the girl's, nodding. "Life... situations... things change. Then, we were foes. Now... who knows? You will find out soon enough with me. However, we must away." She glances to the messenger, reaching out to run her fingers through his hair. "Just a bit longer... and dear? Let us go. There is much I wish to know." That said, she starts towards the stairs, still holding the woman's hand firmly. "... like your name. Both of you names, really."

  • Both look up at Days... and even her ruffling of his hair keeps the flush in his face.

He looks up at her, trying not to lick his lips or stumble in his words. "I... I am called Snow. Snow Sorrel..."

The girl holds her hand to Days', but she does not look at the Raksha... "My name is Mei. Mei of the Crimson Blossom..."

Child of Wyld Days: "Mei. Snow. I will never forget those names." She nods towards the wrecked gate, even as it draws close. "And... Mei. Please, do not fear me. Time will heal all wounds." The damage on your Valor is still strong. That will recover... but will you? We shall see, shan't we? "Indeed, time heals all wounds... we go, my charges. And quickly at that... it seems at least one of us has something on his mind." She smiles down at Snow, almost teasingly.

  • Mei nods, and says an acknowledgement in a voice too low to be heard. They nod, one scared, the other eager. They nod, Snow trying to push Days, Mei letting herself be pushed by the Raksha... wherever she might lead them to.

Child of Wyld Days: She can only watch them both, smiling inwardly. One hungry, one frightened... a curious contrast. In time, they will be the same, but for now she enjoys this strange sight.

In the back of her Heart... she feels a pang of concern. It is always there; these are living beings with hopes and dreams and passions, taking the paths in their life they thought were the best. She will eat those dreams... if not soon, eventually. It was her right, as a superior creature, to stand atop those below her on the chain of might... but they did not ask to be mortal.

This is not right. Nor is it fair.

... it is a shame that I find it amazingly difficult to be too concerned. Perhaps that will change one day...

And thus she leads them to her place of safety, and a most wyld future.
