Order and Chaos

  • Exceedingly Sublime Opal was applying her skills to the grat warstrider, applying a dizzingly variety of tools and technical expertise to fiddle with Tears' magnificent armor. Even though many fluids leaked from beneth the jade-steel alloyed frame, it did not seem to touch her.

Child of Wyld Days: "My... I see you're quite good with Creation's weapons."

Apparently, Opal has herself a watcher, and it's none other than the decidedly tall Snow Monkey. She has her arms folded, stark-white eyebrows up in interest, and her everpresent flexible weapon wrapped around her waist, serpent and owl mouthes interlocked. "It is rather impressive, for being just an overblown suit of mail..."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: "With such weapons was your kind thrown back beyond the edge of the world, Raksha. With such weapons was the world claimed from the primordials." She sighed a bit, she obviously did not hold any love for the Fair Folk. "Can I help you with something?"

Child of Wyld Days: "Now, now, I've been told the tales time and time again, and it took more than some walking metal suits to end the Crusade." She lets that linger, all smiles. "... I do have a name, and I'd love to share it with you, if you'd be so kind as to share yours with me, most curious woman."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: "Whatever name you'd offer me would be false, so I do not care to extend mine." And lo, the warstrider was a thing of wonder, such as were all things made by divinity. Opal applied all her vast knowledge toward it, but she still found herself distracted by that most annoying Raksha. "Leave me be."

Child of Wyld Days: ... false? Well, sort of, but... BAH! Stupid strange stone woman...

"Perhaps, but a lie is better than nothing at all sometimes. You may call me the Child of Wyld Days... or Snow Monkey if you prefer. Or anything, really, I'm not too terribly attached to those monikers." She shuts up long enough to watch Opal work, simian tail swishing to and fro from time to time. "... that reminds me. What exactly are you, beautiful lady?"

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: Glancing toward him with a fair amount of venom, she looks back to her work. What could it hurt? She wasn't bound to such things. "Exceedingly Sublime Opal." She said, mumbling. She did not like being observed so closely. It put her on edge."

Child of Wyld Days: Now, now! Don't make yourself so easy to read, my dear. It makes feeling out your limits too easy...

"A very self-assured name, and perhaps a fitting one." She gives the warstrider another glance, then resumes focusing on Opal, faint grin firmly in place. "Since you seem reluctant to let on what you are, I am going to assume you are a very bored godling until you tell me otherwise. However... I'm also curious as to how you came to this place, this Boil. Did the winds of war call you too, or is what tugs your strings more mundane?"

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: "What part of leave me alone fails to dent that skull?" She gave a hissing sigh, and began putting her tools away. "And my history and lineage are /none/ of your afair. And if you pursue this line of inquiry, I will flay that furred hide of yours from your dreamflesh with an iron razor."

Child of Wyld Days: "Heh... gyeheh..." And with little warning, Snow Monkey bursts into rather tickled laughter, soft but nonetheless very genuine. She does manage to rein herself in some, but nonetheless is still giggling, wiping at her now-moist brass eyes. "I'm trying to get to know what appears to be an ally, and all I get in reply are threats... my, and they say some of the Fair are unfriendly."But if I truly aggravate you so, you really need to see about calming yourself... from the looks of things, I'm going to be here for quite some time. The war is not yet over, and my being craves for more."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: "You no longer exist to me. I hear but an annoying breeze." And, with that, she studiously began annoying him and finished rounding up her tools, and once hoisting them up, began to walk off. She began to mentally chant her mantra again, letting the anger seep away from her.

Child of Wyld Days: For a moment... for a rather long moment, Days looks as if that comment stung her deeply. Fingers clenching, teeth bared, eyes narrowed... and then, with a deep breath, she slips back into her lazy, casual stance, shaking her head. "Pfeh... no, Monkey. Losing your head's not the way to make friends... although it might've made for a fun workout." She chortles, watching Opal walk off... or rather, watching the lower half of Opal walk off.

... mn. No, I'll be patient.

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: Why did her ass naturally have to say like that? She merely moved off in her naturally graceful manner, her work finished on the divinely appointed warstrider.

She desended the warstrider, and moved off unto her next project... sometimes she felt like an artifact vending machine. She kept trying to put Days out of her mind but didn't. Her unnaturally hard and impenatrible flesh was very much a metaphore for the woman... it wasn't so much Days was a raksha than she was probing into the details of her life.

Child of Wyld Days: However, simply sitting here is dull. Let's try this again... hrm. But how to not heat her up too much... ah! Tempted to scamper over next to her, Days simply stayed where she was, curling down to stretch like a cat...and with as much grace and ease. "Well, then... let's try it this way. What could I speak to you about that would not provoke an iron shaving? These machines? How they work? I never could wrap my mind around how they function..." She was... mostly honest in her request. Sure, it was an attempt at small talk, but she had to wonder how even Chosen could make such ungainly things move.

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: She turned around, and arched a brow toward her. Might as well, it wasn't as if Fair Folk could use them to any great effect. And so, she began a discourse on the nature and power source of the common warstrider, her perfectly sculpted lips moving with alacrity as she detailed everything... it made one quite dizzy to listen to, infact.

Child of Wyld Days: ... wuh.

Days was a sharp one, but she was not one who could be considered brilliant. She does nod at the few parts she can grasp at, but looks generally a bit overwhelmed otherwise. After a while, Days almost timidly raises her hand, ears a bit flattened and eyes blinking now and then.

"Ah... well. I think that's more than enough! I must admit I'm no craftswoman..."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: She was just in the middle of a discourse on how the Essence Capacitor was used with the flux capaciter to facilitate time travel... or some such, and she stops.

"Ah, well, thank you for listening." She demurely adjusts the wireframed glasses on the bridge of her nose. "Was there anything else?"

Child of Wyld Days: "Well... hrm. Not terribly. You seem to not want me to pry, so I'll grant you that." Days rises to her feet and yawns, quite unable to match Opal's staggering beauty but obviously a specimen of creature that blends might and allure all her own; then again, most Fair tend towards that. "Still..."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: She tilted her head to the side a little, and frowned a bit. "Yes?"

Child of Wyld Days: "You intrigue me. Immensely, and that's not going to go away overnight, my friend Opal." She nods, almost as if affirming her own words. "And it is not just your beauty... I've seen many as blessed as you, but not here in the fixed world. Again, you are either something unique, or a god. I am beginning to think the former."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: "I am no god, I can assure you of that. If you must know, I am one of the Mountain Folk." She said, sighing a bit. "You are my antithesis, Child of Wyld Days."

Child of Wyld Days: "Mountain Folk, Mountain Folk, Mount---" And then Snow Monkey freezes, staring dumbly at Opal as gleaned information suddenly floods her mind. Her Heart, deep within the bonefire of her freehold so far away, pulses madly, and she feels a strange ache in her pattern as realization sets in. A... fixed raksha? That's... frightening. And yet... Days... smiles. This smile is genuine and wide, almost childlike. "... tell me more." Exceedingly Sublime Opal: She looks to the Child, and frowns ever so softly at her. "I do not have the years required to educate you. Leave me to my work, and to my peace, if you would." She said, studiously polite and austere in her pearlesent white robes. She carefully brushed a few strands of her hair from her perfectly featured face. Of course the infuriating woman would not listen. It was her natural to indulge her whims.

Fiona: There is the sweet sound of golden chains touching one another, and she comes in, warm amber-brown bangs falling over her face, eyes thirsty for knowledge, "Hey, hey, why be so rude, Opal? To tell the truth, I would want to hear about that was well..."

Child of Wyld Days: Wyld Days most certainly does not just give up and walk off. Instead she (carefully, it should be noted) leans forward, tail lightly smacking against the too-perfect fabric of her pants, while she formulates a suitable response... only for the sound of metal on metal turns her ears. Her head, then her body, quickly follows, and she beholds the curious young lady before her.

"... why hello. Who might you be?"

Fiona: The young girl looks up at Days, the golden chains around her arms making her seem to innocent and helpless. her large hazel eyes blinking once, twice at the large monkey-woman. "Oh, excuse me, where are my manners... my name is Fiona! And who might you be, child of chaos?"

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: She looks to Fiona, and feels the slight stab of compassion beat within her temperate breast. She bit her lower lip at she watched Kanti, but then she thought about revealing the secrets of the Jade Born to a spawn of Chaos, and found the will to resist her impulse. But when the Child turns its mad attention upon Fiona, something ceases her... an anger. Born as if from ether, it roared up like a pyre. She turned a hard eye on the Raksha, and those eyes promised death for any innumerable number of inappropriate actions that she might make.

"I would rather not divulge such before this one, Fiona."

Child of Wyld Days: "Child of chaos?"

The fae blinks once, twice. "Child of chaos?" Her lips widen into a pleased smirk. "Oh, I like that! At least someone properly recognizes my place in this confused reality. I am known as the Child of Wyld Days, one who braves the Northern blizzards and duels with the shining men who roam the land. A fighter with few equals, and a lover of life... among other things." Snow Monkey crounches low, almost simian-like, with her fingers to the ground as she gives Fiona a very interested thrice-over. If she can sense Opal's anger (and, oh, can she ever), it onyt eggs her on.

Fiona: "A pleasure to meet you, oh fighter with few equals." She says, with a corteous bow, "Unfortunately, even though I am one to shine..." She says, the symbol of Twilight appearing on her forehead, "I am not a fighter by any stretch of imagination. You shall have no duels from me... but I suppose we can learn from each other!"

"Especially since we do have iron all around..." Her lips curl in a mischievous smile.

Child of Wyld Days: ... why, I do believe that I have recieved a veiled threat from a girl. How daring! How bold! Truly a child of the Sun Invincible. A shame she's no warrior, though. A spar would have been lovely... although...

The Child shrugs lightly, doing her best to play off the fact that the nearby environs reek of the 'scent' of death made metal. "No matter! There is no honor in a fight against one who does not practice the art... and yes! Yes, we can most certainly learn from one another." Her smirk becomes a bit more sinful, but she reins herself in. "I am always looking for new experiences... although some of the more dazzling ones are the hardest to enjoy." Her ears twitch in Opal's direction, dirty smirk becoming a toothy grin.

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: And lo, Opal can glower. And that glower was darker than any stone found within the depths of the world. More pure than any crystal mined by mortal hands.

"I would appreciate it if you would not make such suggestions toward Fiona." She said, through gritted teeth.

Child of Wyld Days: "Now, now... I have a right to say what I wish. I live and breathe, do I not?" She turns to Opal, brass eyes dancing with teasing fire. "It is this lovely young lady's choice to make of my words what she will... if they please her, then so be it. If they do not, then I can accept that as well. Besides... you're a tad too... hrm. Rigid. Yes, rigid. Relax some, perfect Opal."

Fiona: The young Solar blushes slightly, taking one step back.

"Oh, hmmm...I would prefer just to talk!"

Child of Wyld Days: Bah, I keep forgetting that mortals are so... stuffy. "Talking is just fine! You read into my words too deeply." Snow Monkey resumes smirking as if nothing amiss happened... and notably doesn't move from her crouched position. For now, anyway.

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: Opal continued her glower, and calmly placed a hand on Fiona's shoulder. "Dearest, if you desire intimate knowledge regarding my race, I shall inform you at a later time. However, I will not do so infront of her," she huffed slightly, looking like she would be flush red at the moment if it probably wasn't impossible for her to do so.

"Cease you provocations and praddle elsewhere, monkey-bitch, lest I remove your tail and do something unseemly with it." She blinked at herself. She actually had sworn at the creature. Moon's influence was definately not a possitive one in her life.

Child of Wyld Days: Well.

That does make the Child blink, and as easygoing as she is, that comment does cause her to rise to her full height and regard Opal with an amused expression. "Now, now... there's no need for such hostility. Have I actually harmed someone? No? Then please... reserve judgment and anger for when I act... untoward. After all, you are an ally! I seek to work in harmony with you... and such hatred, as delicious as it feels, isn't going to help matters. Am I right?" She pauses, and her voice drops to a rumbling purr. "Besides, I am not one to be taken lightly, my fixed friend, even if my art is for you and not against you."

Fiona: "What do you know of this... Days, that I don't, Opal?"

"No need to be hostile - we are protected here... I can call Kanti from where I left her on a moment!" Even as she tried her most diplomatic smile, she turned to Days, making sure she understood the threat, "And don't you start either!"

Child of Wyld Days: The Child merely shrugs, nodding in understanding. "I could not dare ignore my Heart and not at least speak up for myself, lovely girl. I am both lover and warrior; I am forgiving, but I prefer not to be bullied." She caps that with a genuine smile. "Still, a truce it is!"

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: Her temperent nature, as well as Fiona's admonishment, cools the fire of her anger like dipping a molten sword into a bucket of water. She regards the Raksha coolly, before regarding Fiona. "It is a matter of her nature, dearest, to do as she pleases when she pleases. She obeys no philosophy or law, no moral code, nor even a asthetic than that which pleases her of the moment. If she shows you affection, it is because it feeds her, not because she feels love. If she shows you cruelty, its because she is captivated by calousness and the act, not out of any real hatred. Even this shell she wears is but a contrivence because her true self cannot abide the world as it is." She turns her pale eyes upon Child, and does the worst thing possible she can think of...

...she lets all emotion in her heart for the creature die, observing her through objectivity, rather than subjectivity.

Fiona: "Good!" She answers the Child, a smile on her face... soon to disappear as Opal speaks. She drinks on Opal's knowledge, turning to the Child and trying to... understand, her.

Child of Wyld Days: She tries her best to hide it, but the moment that Opal swallows her emotions, the raksha flinches in shock. That unique, intriguing flavor... broken, taken away. It is that severance that causes her to pause, and not the Jadeborn's words, because... "You speak truth, in a way, curious woman. But your vantage point doesn't give you a clear view of what I and my kind really are. We are... free. Far more free than any thing that exists in this enjoyable, dreary, solid, stable world. To be able to cast off the chains of expectation... to dance as we wish to dance, when we wish to dance... to find joy in the simplest of acts, or the most intricate... that is raksha. We take on bindings, yes. But ultimately... we are not bound. Unlike the shaped, held in the hands of gods as fickle as we are." Still, with all the strength in her voice, she is still shaken. ... you will be one to watch, Opal.

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: "You all are but a fever dream, mad illusions that are made real because you make others mad. You hunger for true substance, but find your bellies always hallowed, for it ever alludes you." She smiles a bit down at Fiona. "If you desire to ask me of myself at a later time, I shall reveal some to you, alright?"

Fiona: "Alright!" She speaks at long last, leaving both to talk...

They were... interesting. Each so different, each so unique...

Fiona vowed to herself to journey deeper in to the Wyld than she had before, and see if Days spoke true... she was able to keep herself immaculate in the Wyld - and it would not take much to have even more...

Child of Wyld Days: It takes everything that the Child has to not snap back. Her expression does not change, her eyes remain lidded, her tail wags lazily. Her Cup, deep within Elsewhere, throbs painfully, and she inwardly growls at that damned woman. She could never understand! She's nothing more than a lie forged from a dream herself, pretending to be more than she is... "... oh, if only you knew. If only you knew."

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: She arched an eyebrow. "Mm. Well, if you'll now excuse me, I must do a bit of scouting. Come to me at any time for that talk, Fiona." She turned on her heel, and began to walk through the corridor that Fiona had entered from. She was done bickering with this Raksha, and she had important things to bend her thought to... however, Days would probably persist. And so, with an oddly beautiful and fluid gesture, she conjured a wall of essence and force behind her. A wall tangible only to those not born of Creation.

"A pleasent evening to you, Child of Wyld Days." She said, neutrally.

Child of Wyld Days: Even though she's certain that it's not the best of ideas, idle curiousity leads her to the strange coloration in the air, an arm snapping out resolutely to 'feel' what lies before her, even as she watches the Mountain bitch walk off. An absolute pity... and she's so beautiful...

Fiona: Fiona shrugs, watching Opal walk...

"You two... really dislike each other, don't you?"

Exceedingly Sublime Opal: The Child caresses it, and its like caressing a solid wall, only more tingly, somehow.

Child of Wyld Days: "My opinion can, and probably will, change... but right now I find her anger towards me to be quite... bothersome." She looks at her fingers, rubbing them together... then suddenly strikes at the barrier without holding back a single drop of her fearsome power. "Again, that can change if she gets over her deluded preconceptions..."

... ow. Her fist is true, and the strike downright perfect... but her not-quite unstoppable force meets the immovable object that Opal left behind, and neither side wins. "... mn." She shakes her fist out, knuckles popping in protest.
