Unconquerable Self Style

Minimum Melee: 5

Like Blood.

Followers of the Unconquerable Self style are the masters of defense, by any and all means. Though they have nigh impenetrable defenses, they sacrifice their ability to make attacks with their defensive stances, instead being limited to responsive counter attacks. A wily enemy can use this to their advantage, only attacking when they are prepared for the inevitable counter.

Special Rules: While this style is active, the character cannot perform an attack action at all. They can only use the counter attacks that are part of the style. The perfect defense comes at a great loss of attack power.


Evade the Blows

Cost: 5 Motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Dodge: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms:

The character heightens his sense of self to perceive anything that enters into his personal space, and then wills himself to subconsciously evade anything that would hit him. While this charm is in effect, the character can use their full dodge pool to evade any physical attack that comes his way. Awareness of the attack is irrelevant, when a physical attack gets near him, he simply slips out of the way.


Block the Attacks

Cost: 5 Motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms:

The character uses his heightened awareness of physical objects and wills his subconscious to instinctively parry any attacks with his weapon. While this charm is in effect, the character can use their full parry pool to block any physical attack that nears him. He does not need to be aware of the attack to parry.


Protect the Self

Cost: 7 Motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Resistance: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms:

The character floods her skin with essence, and reinforces the natural resistance her nature provides. For the rest of the scene, allowing her to add her resistance to both her lethal and bashing soak.


Return the Attacks

Cost: 5 Motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms:

The character wills her self to instinctively respond to any attack with one of her own. For the rest of the scene, the character can counterattack at full dice pool whenever an enemy attacks her in melee. The character cannot respond to other counterattacks.


Reflect the Attacks

Cost: 7 Motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Return the Attacks, Block the Attacks

The character not only wills her self to instinctively respond to any attack, but can also swipe their ranged attacks back at them. For the rest of the scene, the character can counterattack at full dice pool whenever an enemy attacks her, be it from close, or at a distance with a ranged weapon. A successful parry must be made against a ranged attack for it to be reflected, and if this occurs, use the reflected ammunitions damage rating, not the characters weapon. The character cannot reflect other counters. (Note: The storyteller is fairly within their rights to say you cannot reflect a 100 ton boulder back up a mountain or some such, but this obviously relies on just how strong the character is.)


Be Elsewhere

Cost: 5 Motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Dodge: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Evade the Blows

The character uses his essence to flicker in and out of existence, enabling him to dodge any dodgeable attack without a dice roll.


Stop Attack

Cost: 5 Motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Block the Attacks

The character uses her weapon as a focus, holding it in front of her as she forms a protective cocoon of essence. This charm perfectly parries any parriable attack without need for rolling.


Suffer No Harm

Cost: 5 Motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Dodge: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Protect the Self

The character reinforces his skin with pure essence, momentarily turning his skin into pure golden orichalcum. This charm perfectly stops any damage that cannot harm one of the five magical materials.


Unconquerable Self

Cost: 7 Motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Dodge: 6
Minimum Melee: 6
Minimum Resistance: 6
Minimum Essence: 5
Prerequisite Charms: Evade the Blows, Block the Attacks, Protect the Self, Be Elsewhere, Stop Attack,
Suffer No Harm

The character enfuses his very being with the indestructability of his divine shard, and glows a brilliant gold. Nothing short of oblivion itself can harm the character when this charm is active. The downside being that the charm must be activated before the enemy rolls his attack.
