The World of Aldea
The bells toll at the zenith of the day and our adventure begins in the magical world of Aldea. It is a game of politics, war, and power that is a constantly active and changing enviroment. It is a world that was originally run in the d20 DnD system but has now become Exalted in favor of the Exalted systems flexibility and just outright coolness. The players of this adventure are many and magnificent, epic in motivation and powerful in stature, it is here that their adventures will be recorded.
Dayis Dawnreaver, Midnight Caste Sorcerer, outcast of Alar'-do-Airin and apprentice to Esteron Oglebane.
Lucas, a mortal priest of the church of Kira.
Felina Silversong, Twilight Caste bard who is much like the rest of her family and exceptional at music.
Kirimar, Solar Half-Caste Paladin who takes it upon himself to protect the people of Aldea.
And So It Begins...
I am Dayis Dawnreaver, born and outcast of the world under, Alar'-do-Airin, and now appreantice to Esteron Oglebane and accepted, in a sense, member of House Oglebane. I am a practicitioner of magic in all of it's forms and a chosen of Akar, god of death and corruption, though I do not know why I was chosen for such things. I have lived for a total of 327 years to date and of the Oglebanes there are only 2 of the 3 pure-blood Oglebanes who are older than I, Esteron, My Master, and Meldrath, the outcast of the Oglebanes, the self-proclaimed "White Oglebane" though he has only live a little more than 30 years longer than myself.
It is in this city of Aldea that I find myself living in now, for the past three years Oglebane has been establishing itself as a noble house along with Levi, Ademra, and Silversong. It is but 2 weeks ago that the King passed away without any heirs and the noble houses are now vying for the crown. It seems most likely that either House Oglebane or House Levi will take the throne but I have suspicions, that I do not believe my Master shares, about House Ademra. There have also been many women coming and declaring that they hold the King's son in their bellies, though only one of these women has found a foot hold and now stays at the Golden Dragon, protected by the ancient innkeeper. My Master finds the woman, Halda, a possible problem and the selection for King will be in 2 weeks time and he has put it upon my shoulders to eliminate her.
Sadley the one who will be performing the selection of King is the Royal Magistrate, Meldrath Oglebane, and he has shown much dislike for House Oglebane in the past. He separates himself form the house, lives at the castle, rarely declares his name, and has voiced against Ogelbane many times. Sadley, Esteron will not eliminate his own first born son and I do not believe I will be able to influence or eliminate him myself. Other obstacles include the Chosen of Kira, The Head of House Levi, who I think may declare himself chosen by Kira by divine providence to be King, much like the first King of Aldea was declared such by Kira herself and given the Scepter of Rulership. Ademra I feel will use the fact that they are in control of more than 75% of the kingdoms military force to their advantage in the "battle" for King, though I hope that it does not come down to actual battle.
I have also joined the forming Mages Guild at my own perogative to assist my Master. He has been turned away thus far from the Guild under the suspicion of practicing the Dark Arts and it has frustrated him greatly. I have thusly joined the Guild and have become the Assistant of a master Enchanter and the only Alchemist in the Giuld, Rakeneth, who is considered the 3rd strongest Mage in the Guild. The second most powerful is a mortal Thaumaturge by the name of Felaran and he has no apprentices or assistants and I have every intention of becoing his first assistant so that I might then have enough influence in the Guild to allow my Master to be let in. I am currently the primary Assistant to Rakeneth, they of course have no idea of my alternate magics, and under myself is a woman named Felina Silversong and a bone artist, whose work I admire, named Logo. All seem to be most interested in the practice of Alchemy and I do not mind not learning any real sorcery in the Guild for I have my master to teach me what I need.
I am also soon to begin experimenting with with a substance called Cold Steel, a magical matal that is used by the law of Aldea. It has anti-magical properties and I wish to test these properties and use them as a basis for a spell in the future.
The Festival on the Holy Day of Kira is upon us and I must attend it, as much as I loath to, and it is every year that I attend that I become striken with Akar's dipleasure, for all are expected to follow in the opening prayer. I hope that all works in our favor this year for I have much to do after the end of the festival...
The Festival
It appears that the Kira's Holy Day was not meant to be a joyous occaison this year. It seems that /someone/ tried to assassinate Meldrath when he went to the Golden Dragon Inn, although I hear that it was thoroughly unsuccessful due to the effort of the Son of Kira that has been in Aldea for the past few years and a newly arrived Blessed of Kira Paladin of Toran Orc (Of all the retched things to bless Kira was foolish enough to give power to a member of the Gleaming Eye Tribe). It seems that they managed to spread the first assassin over half a city block and quickly gave persuit with the assastance of one of the guards under the employ of House Ademra and they apparently found the other two accomplices in the process scaring the crap out of almost every citizen in Aldea. Honestly I think that a 9 and 1/2 foot tall Gleaming Eye Orc Paladin of Toran running around cleaving people in half has sufficiently scared most citizens in the city into staying indoors. This will of course make my plans slightly harder but it should not be much of a problem.
In my other endeavors that may be hampered by these events I have summoned a spirit of murder and stricken a deal with it. I have traded a murder for a murder and I wait to hear back from the spirit, expecting success of course and if I do not hear of success it may be that I will be forced to show the spirit not to fail one of House Oglebane. I have killed the beggar Lithi Erumi and in trade the spirit will perform the murder of Halda. I have purchased the services of the mercenary band that Jerem employed to protect her and made sure that they will not interfere. If all goes well I will be able to fulfill one of my masters wishs, though there is still much left to do.
The Festival Ends
The day of the festival finally ends and there has been much accomplished this day. The woman Halda is dead at the hands of the spirit of murder though the child she bear is still alive. But through the manipulation of her ghost I have founnd out where the child is and will deal with it at my leisure. It seems also that esteron has taken an initiative to try and destroy the Son of Kira, Kiramar. It seems that he hired a group of the 'best' assassins in Aldea and that have been apprehended with my masters house signet ring on them, which he was apparently using as a coin of distant vision. One has died and his spirit has been tortured to nonexistance by Esteron, the others however are no longer wearing the items and are currently out of our reach though I am still supposed to dispose of the men. It is also in this process that the fact that they had my masterys house signet ring on them has been investigated and it also appears that the church was able to summon his ghost and interrogate it before my master got to it and they came inquiring about it. I have decided to use Levi against Ademra to attempt to start a war between the two houses, so that they might eliminate each other, and I will be doing so through the use of one of my masters Nemissaries, which I will also use to help dispose of the recently born child and for some of my other devious plans that are a part of my circle of intrege.
It also seems that the mercenaries that I bought off were killed, which is good, now I do not have to pay them, and Jerem left his bar for a time. I imagine he was taking the woman Halda to the Ademra house and eliminated the spirit of murder. There is definitely more to Jerem than meets the eye.
The Day After
My plans seem to be going well thus far. The nemissary that my Master, Esteron, granted me use of has been working very well. The woman Halda did indeed die as was needed though the child was able to live through the ordeal so the first task that I sent the nemissary to was to inhabit one of the Ademra guards and kill the child quite openly. He accomplished this task swimmingly and even managed to kill some of Ademra's guards in the process. I then set it out to proceed with the plans against House Levi by inhabiting one of House Levi's more upstanding but less temperate figures and take him to one of the seedier inns in town, I must keep my plans away from that mysterios meddler Jerem, and get nice and intoxicated so that he would begin talking about how Levi himself hired the guard from House Ademra to kill the child. I have yet to hear back from the nemissary on this issue.
Other events seem to be unfolding as well however as the two other assassins have been taken to Festalar Forest, as best I can tell, and my master went to deal with that issue since I am not strong enough to contend witht he Great Forests powers. It appears that my master was to later for the church has already done their investigations and it appears that my Masters blunder with the assassins has gotten the church on his heels. They came in force to the household and took him into custody and though I doubt that he will be held long it is still disturbing that they even suspect him. I do not believe that House Silversong will interfere in the upcoming election, though I am still keeping my ears to the wind just in case they make a move, I will begin planning their downfall ahead of time just in case they do the unexpected.
I have also performed some of the asrology that my Master taught me in hopes of seeing how my plans would turn out. I saw a vision of blood and death. The streets of Aldea were flooded with blood, gore, and the corpses of the common. This delights and disheartens me at the same time. I feel that a war is coming, one between the houses, and that means that my scemes will not end as well as I desire. I will begin gathering forces of my own, not of House Oglebanes, so that when the time comes I will be able to act the hero of Aldea and take the throne for my own when the heads of the Noble Houses and the Royal Magistrate lie dead. Akar will see glory like no other on that day and it will be mine to grasp.
Another note is Fae'run has been granted the powers of undeath by Akar after my Master left for the forest though he has yet to find out due to his arrest. I was barely able to contain the magical flux from leaking out of the room and some may have escaped though I do not think it is enough to bring attention to House Oglebane.
