I and a number of people I know have always been a bit disappointed with the Dragon-Blooded Archery Charms. For one thing, very few of them actually do things that archery does. So I came up with these Charms to alleviate the problem.

Life-Seeking Arrow

Cost: 1 mote per 2 dice
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Supplemental
  Min. Archery: 2
  Min. Essence: 1
  Prerequisite Charms: None

Seeking calmly for the Essence of the Wood Dragon within a living being, the Dragon-Blood's arrow speeds unerringly towards it's target. For each mote of Essence spent on Life-Seeking Arrow, the player may add two die to an Archery attack roll. This cannot increase the character's dice pool by more than her Archery Ability rating. The player must declare how much Essence she is infusing into the Charm before making the attack roll.

Bond-Shattering Bolt

  Cost: 2 motes, 1 Willpower
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Supplemental
  Min. Archery: 4
  Min. Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Life-Seeking Arrow

Concentrating on the life-Essence of wood, the Dragon-Blood fires an arrow which severs his target's connection with the Elemental Dragon of Wood, denying him of some of the Essence necessary for life. Using this Charm adds the victim's permanent Essence to the base damage of the arrow. This Charm has no effect on unnatural or unliving creatures, such as demons, automata, or the undead. Note that it is the target's permanent Essence that is added to the damage of the attack, not the attacking Exalt's.

Deadly Pinning Arrow Attack

Cost: 4 motes, 1 Willpower, 1 Health Level
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Supplemental
  Min. Archery: 5
  Min. Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Bond-Shattering Bolt, Swallows Defend the Nest

Breathing slowly and measuredly, the Dragon-Blood focuses his own life-Essence into his arrow, giving it a strange, preternatural life. Infused with the strength of the Wood Dragon, the arrow strikes it's target with horrific force, driving through his body, and likely carrying him with it as its flight continues.

Upon being struck, the target makes a reflexive Strength + Resistance roll with a difficulty equal to the Exalt's Essence. If the roll succeeds, the arrow merely passes completely through his body, continuing its flight on the other side. This inflicts 1 automatic level of unSoakable Lethal damage, in addition to the normal damage of the attack.

If the roll fails, however, the target is carried along the path of the arrow until the missile lodges into some sort of structure -- whether it be a wall, the trunk of a tree, or the ground. Again, this causes 1 automatic level of unSoakable Lethal damage. The arrow then immediately begins to take root within the structure, pinning the unfortunate victim in place. Escaping requires a successful Strength + Athletics roll, at a difficulty equal to the Dragon-Blooded archer's permanent Essence. This difficulty increases by 1 for each turn the victim remains pinned, as the roots continue to expand, until the difficulty peaks at twice the character's Essence. If the victim does manage to tear himself free, he inflicts a number of automatic, unSoakable levels of Lethal damage equal to the Dragon-Blood's permanent Essence in the process.

The Dragon-Blooded who used this Charm may return the arrow to its normal form with a touch. Either way, the arrow returns to normal after a number of turns equal to the character's Archery score.

Comments

Certainly wouldn't be adverse to a few. ;)
