Appearance:
A large man, he is thick and muscular rather than especially tall. He is most known for his battle persona, girded in meticulously painted armor, a champion of Haslanti. When not in battle, he prefers thick wool and warm fur, particularly that of ice foxes considered lucky by his original tribe. He has dark hair, and a heavy beard styled to conceal his scar as much as possible. It doesn’t help much. His mouth is pulled slightly, and it makes an angry red line almost to his ear, on which hair refuses to grow.
Magdala has cut a scar into his cheek on the opposite side as the scar, trailing from just below his eye to the bottom of his nose, vertically from the midpoint of his eye.
Story: When he was young, and his tribe was trading in Icehome, he challenged an exiled nobleman of the Realm to a duel over an insult to his tribe. He won, slaying the man, but received a slash to the cheek that healed badly. It makes speech hard for him, and he became much more introverted afterwards. There were witnesses, and the event gained him some notoriety due to the rough nationalism of the time.
The cold winds of the north pain his face greatly, making his tribe’s nomadic lifestyle far from the fires and shelter of civilization impossible for him. He stayed in Icehome instead, recuperating, and then trading on his new reputation for guardwork. When free, he spent much of his time alone or drunk. After a series of brawls, leaving him with a crooked nose, he tried to reform, becoming a teetotaler, and taking up the hobby of painting. Soon he spent most of his time painting, using it as a focus to stave off depression and express himself. He even used the hobby to support himself for a time.
He had joined the cities militia, and distinguished in a number of actions. At the start of our story, he is thought of as a champion of the Fourth Scale.
