Various Setting Details

What follows is setting details that will differ from the books. Do keep in mind that these are differences that your characters will be aware of. There may be other differences that your characters would not know of.

Back to Western Pirates

  • The Lintha are a very discreet yet infamous band of pirates that rumours place as inhuman creatures with Wyld taint and demons as pets. No merchant wants to get boarded by the Lintha and some people kill themselves rather than face them in the seas. Actual information on the Lintha is very scarce beyond their very real pirate attacks. They are vicious pirates and leave few survivors. And even then, the survivors have usually been driven mad which only adds to their terrifying reputation. (Think Reavers from Firefly only much smarter and way more organised.)
  • The Bull of the North did scare the Realm pretty badly. It wasn't just the Tepet legions who suffered. Every House had been...persuaded to send in a legion, and all the Houses felt the loss deeply. though Tepet felt it more than others. To that end, each House has co-opted some portion of the Imperial Legions to increase their military might. They have also funneled money to the Immaculate Order, who has used the funds to create a more effective Wyld Hunt. There are still those who are not caught in the net, but when the Wyld Hunt descends, it descends with the full might of the Dragons. The Realm isn't that fractured, but there is still the usual in-fighting after the Regent was appointed.
  • Solar Anathema are usually regarded as just another threat. Since Creation is filled with many many scary things, Anathema are sort of a fact of life. The usual reaction is to run away, since people should run away from dangerous things, and Lunar Anathema cultivate this reaction very well. Still, flashing an Orichalcum weapon isn't an instant death sentence, and neither is glowing like a Solar. If one is polite about it, one might only be politely asked to leave. Some people might even think about how to bargain with Solars. Except places where the Immaculate Philosophy holds firm of course.
    • The Coral Archipelago outwardly condemns Anathema, but doesn't do anything to drive them away either. In these troubled times, they're willing to utilise every possible resource. There are quiet rumours circulating the islands that Anathema willing to work for the good of Coral will be handsomely rewarded.
    • Wavecrest does not tolerate Anathema and any discovered are immediately reported to the Immaculate Order. Given recent extra funding, the Immaculate Order has something of a presence in this archipelago and will investigate such reports and take appropriate action.
