Character Description
Si Lu is a priestess of the Unconquered Sun and acolyte of the Cult of the Illuminated. She has traveled from the South to spread the worship of the Unconquered Sun in the verdant (and somewhat safer) East. In the south SiLu was an orphan. She was abandoned to the streets at the age of 5 because her family could not care for another female child. She met up with Ardabad her first year on the streets, he took her in to his group of street bandits. As a street bandit she became good at preforming the lost child schtick as a diversion for Ardabad and his "friends." As she grew she began to develop an interest in the local street preachers and preformers. Ardabad made sure that she was allowed to follow and mimic who she wanted. In her mimicing she found the Cult of the Illuminated, or a better description would be that they found her.
From the Cult of the Illuminated Si Lu continued to grow. She became a circut preacher and preformer, developing skills of Bureaucracy to work her way into forbidden areas. It was this time of her life that the Unconquered Sun noticed her talents and she became an exalt. One day she walked into the wrong meeting and heard a caper of some acolytes planning to unveil the Cult of the Illuminated to the imperials. Making fairly quick work of them she dissmantled their sceme, but in the process unveiled herself as an exalt and destroyed acolytes of the cult of the illuminated. She was forced to flee the South until she could prove her innocence. She has been running since.
Ardabad, knowing Si Lu's secrets and being loyal to her left the south as her protector. As the duo travelled north they began to pick up more followers along the way. At the time Si Lu first came to White Pines she had seven followers. Her story continues in the annals of the White Pines adventure. (to be continued. . .)
Expanded Backgrounds
Backing: Cult of the Illuminated
Though it's not very strong in this area, the Cult of the Illuminated has maintained some contact with Si Lu over the last year or so. It's likely to grow more important, and make more demands on her, now that she has settled into a position of power. Officially, she is still low on the totem pole in the cult; unofficially, her Exalted status makes her holy. The conflict between these two conditions hampers her relations with her fellow cultists.
Cult
Si Lu has been fairly successful in establishing her cult in Calrushan Wood. There are small communities of worshippers in White Pines, Nakhichevan, Coramar (very strong here), Jhuku, Tambat's Landing, and Tower Kos. The cult tends to meet resistance from those who have religious interests in these cities, especially little gods who fear her influence.
Followers
Si Lu is served by a trio of families who act as her household. They accompanied her from Harborhead, and have adapted quickly to this new land. ( Ardabad (m), Bahram (m), Feroza (f), Fravak (m), Gulbanu (f), Kaniz (f), and Roshanak (f).)
Influence: Harborhead
Si Lu was from a moderately influential family in Khirigast before she joined the Cult of the Illuminated, and even though somewhat estranged, she can still pull some strings in Harborhead through them.
Influence: White Pines
Of the Circle, Si Lu is the most loved. She is a full member of the Town Council, and is quickly becoming its unofficial leader. The elders all listen to her, even if they don't like what she has to say, and few will risk offending her openly. On top of this, she is the de facto religious leader of the cult of the Unconquered Sun, to which everyone in town belongs -- at least in name. The downside, of course, is that she is fully caught up in the political games of the city.
Manse
Si Lu is attuned to Tower Kos manse, though she does not bear the Hearthstone, a Stone of True Path.
Resources
Si Lu receives money and other wealth from two sources: Her cult and the cult of the Unconquered Sun both provide her with a good income (about 100 dinars a month each), and as a member of White Pines' town council, many in White Pines try to curry her favor by giving her gifts, excellent deals, and the like (netting about 200 dinars a month).
