The Meandering Colossus

I thought this up as a result of a discussion on #WoD regarding the possibility of a flying manse. It occured to me that, rather than a flying manse that had to follow dragon lines and might scramble a manse's geomancy as it passed overhead, a giant walking manse would make more sense (and would probably be easier to build and maintain).

Description

The Meandering Colossus looks rather like a small city perched on top of a giant, metal, headless spider with mile-long legs. From a distance, it appears to move very slowly and deliberately; however, few riders can keep up with the Colossus due to the truly massive strides it takes. Its footfalls can be felt from miles away on the ground; aboard the Colossus, motion is typically percieved, at worst, as the gentle rocking of a ship on calm seas. The Colossus can move faster, but to do so would subject the passengers and structures to what is essentially a major earthquake.

Atop the Colossus, there is a perfectly manicured field, with gardens of flowers lining the marble paths that lead between buildings. There are 13 buildings in all: The Residence, which contains opulent living conditions and a very tall tower that provides an incredible view; The Great Hall, which can be easily converted from auditorium to stadium, etc; The three Libraries, which house a great collection of lore; The Thaumadrome, equipped with numerous ritual chambers, tools, and whatever else the sorcerer may need; The Geodrome, which contains the entryway to the Maintenence Passages into the depths of the Colossus as well as the Hearthstone Chamber; The Garden of Water and Wood, an arboretum and source of much of the Colossus' food; The Hall of Air and Fire, a great and opulent banquent hall and ballroom; and the Four Watchtowers, one each for North, South, East, and West. Also of note is the Commons, a field that takes up a quarter of the Colossus' surface area.

To get from the Colossus to the surface, one must go to The Residence, on the bottom floor of which is a great, orichalcum platform fully 50 yards across that lowers itself through a tube through the depths of the Colossus and then beneath it to the ground. It moves entirely on its own and is not connected to the Colossus via wires or anything like that. It cannot fly; it can only rise up into the Colossus.

The controls for the Colossus are located in the Master Suite atop the Residence Tower. A scale map of Creation that can zoom and unzoom dominates the controls, which are very intuitive. The Colossus mostly navigates itself, needing only a destination and a general path; it can avoid obstacles such as mountains it can't climb automatically, although it may wander back and forth looking for a pass for a while.
