Description
Verakis is a man with a mission: while still working as a physician for the Guild, he is known for both his extensive travelling - he hails from the South - and for his penchant for ghost lore. His employer seems neither encourage nor discourage it, as Verakis' knowledge has proven to be useful on many occasions. The Guild representatives in Nexus and Great Forks consider him a valuable worker, and thus engage his services quite often. Currently he is stationed in Nexus, where he has been given a leave of absence to do research.
Verakis is a man with a dualistic nature: On on hand, he is compassionate and intelligent, with decent manners and a desire to help. On the other hand, he is a man informed by loss and a desire to redeem - or avenge - whatever it was that he lost. He is known to be patient, but he lacks gentleness despite his compassion.
Physically, Verakis is very tall for a Southern nomad man (6'1") and he is very fit. The years in the caravans as well as the necessities of being very good at his job have molded Verakis into a man with nimble hands and enough strength to set bones without help. Like all nomads of Deep South, Verakis is nearly black-skinned and has very sharp and rough-cut features. He is a handsome man, in a sandhewn way. He keeps his head shaven, but maintains a short and neat-trimmed beard and moustache. He has angular hazel brown eyes and a touch of sharpness in his facial features.
Verakis dresses in loose garments, like all nomads, despite currently living in the Scavenger Lands. He favours dark blues and sandy browns, and is rarely seen without his headdress and veil (tagelmast). As a hint of his likely Delzahn heritage, Verakis' veils and robes bear ornate script in pearl white, describing his lineage and achievements.
