Player Characters
Cathak Kalan - Fire Aspect Once a great hero of the Realm, Cathak Kalan sinned irrevocably when he betrayed vital information on the defense of Thorns. In his subterfuge he was successful, until he foolishly confessed to his wife. The resulting hatred destroyed a previously amicable marriage and made Kalan a figure of shrouded contempt. He is accompanied by Zip, a strange little flame elemental which he does not fully understand.
ST's Notes: Kalan was a real bastard. I think everyone would agree with that. He was a combat monster as well, and this combination of ability and intent produced a number of memorable moments, both auspicious and inauspicious for the PCs.
Ledaal Keshin - Earth Aspect A doughty scion of House Ledaal and the cousin of Cathak Kalan's estranged wife, Ledaal Keshin brings cool, calm consideration into battle and daily life alike. A cool customer all around, he believes in the ideals of the Realm and would give his life to defend them.
ST's Notes: I think Keshin's player occasionally worries that Keshin didn't have enough of a background, or the flamboyant personality of the other two PCs. His quiet strength and forthright character provided a dramatic foil to the other PCs and an entertaining character trait in itself, and he was definitely the most heroic of them.
Mnemon Talek - Wood Aspect A Wood-Aspected sorceror, Talek fights with a bow and makes much use of his healing skills. As a student at the Heptagram, Talek was often chastised for his unconventional experiments and unruly behavior. A social climber, he seeks to use his family name for all it can bring him. Perhaps on account of that bloodline, he is given to fits of whimsy, mercy, and cruelty. He has a streak of madness in him that is not insignificant.
ST's Notes: Talek was always unpredictable, but that's never a bad thing. I particularly enjoyed (even more upon revisiting these logs) his description of various plant-based cures. Talek had a huge effect on the way the campaign wound up shaking out, as his player's desire to see more of Mnemon introduced her as a major antagonist.
