This simple artifact takes the form of a set of eight chimes made from a material unknown to even the Primordials, each one ringing a note in the musical octave. They lie at the bottom of the Well of Oblivion, softly sounding and rending any who hear their sound into nothingness. What savants do not realize is that the Key of Twilight refers to the song created by the chimes, not the chimes themselves. It is thought that somewhere there is a ninth chime, a master chime that when rung at the Elemental Pole of Earth, will cause the end of Creation. It is fortunate that the chime is such a small thing and not easily found in the vastness of Creation, for surely such power would drive even a god mad. | This simple artifact takes the form of a set of eight chimes made from a material unknown to even the Primordials, each one ringing a note in the musical octave. Glory of the Unconquered
- Artifact 2
- Orichalcum Grimcleaver
- Speed +0, Accuracy +2, Damage +8L, Defense +1
- Requires: Strength 2; Commitment 5
The weapon's head is a sunburst pattern in the same manner as a compass rose. At the center of the sunburst is a setting for a single hearthstone. The end of the haft also has a hearthstone setting, guarded by the visage of an eagle. This grimcleaver is unusual in that it does not have a smooth blade for a cutting surface; the points of the sunburst pattern form the cutting edge, and it is effectively serrated. Double the target's armor lethal soak against attacks made with this weapon, but the target's natural lethal soak is halved. The magical material bonus has been included in the statistics.
Key of Twilight
- Artifact N/A
This simple artifact takes the form of a set of eight chimes made from a material unknown to even the Primordials, each one ringing a note in the musical octave.
The Key of Twilight has always existed, but it was when the Primordials were slain and the Underworld created that it was given form. The Eye of Autochthon is likely the only means of counteracting the effects of the Key of Twilight.
(Yes, I stole the name from .hack//sign, but only because it sounded like a very good name for something that can bring about the end of the world.)
Skullgrin
- Artifact 2
- Soulsteel Daiklave
- Speed +3, Accuracy +3, Damage +5L, Defense +2
- Requires: Strength 2; Commitment 5
An elegantly designed weapon, the ivory handle is shaped like the forearm bones of a man, ending in skeletal hand made of white jade, in which a single hearthstone is gripped. The guard is made of a tarnished silver, widening in the front to accommodate a skull made from polished soulsteel. When there is no hearthstone in the skeleton hand, it is a fist. It opens to accept a hearthstone upon the will of the wielder.
While this weapon is wielded as a normal soulsteel daiklave by all Exalted, its minor ability makes it useful to Dusk caste Abyssals. When a Dusk caste Abyssal uses his anima ability and is attuned to Skullgrin, the eyes of the skull begin glowing and an eerie laughter emanates from the area around the wielder. This adds +1 to the difficulty of Valor rolls made to attack or face the Dusk caste wielder.
The Magical Material bonus has already been included in the statistics.
Soulbiter
- Artifact 3
- Soulsteel Smashfist
- Speed +3, Accuracy +1, Damage +6L, Defense -1
- Requires: Strength 3, Brawl 2, Commitment 5
Soulbiter looks like a giant skull made of soulsteel with ivory inset runes and a grip inside the cranium. The Abyssal simply holds onto the grip inside the skull and attunes herself to it, thus using a soulsteel skull for a brawling aide. The skull's eye sockets function as hearthstone settings.
Tongue of the Cobra That Strikes Without Warning
- Artifact 5
- Orichalcum Serpent-Sting Staff
- Speed +2, Accuracy +2, Damage +6L, Defense +5
- Credit: Created by Harnet/Hulen/Jeryl
Developed by a Twilight who was quite proficient in the Snake Style of supernatural martial arts, this artifact seven-section staff gifts the wielder with snake-like qualities under the right circumstances.
When the user has the Snake Form charm active, he is granted 4 bonus die to his Dexterity pools and 4 bonus die to his Martial Arts pools. Additionally, the attacks from this weapon become venomous. Each time lethal damage is dealt with this weapon, the target must roll Stamina + Resistance, with a difficulty equal to the damage done after soak. A failure indicates that the target takes a penalty to any Physical Attribute-based dice pools equal to the wielder's permanent Essence.
