Strength of the Untrained | Strength of the Untrained |
Revision as of 03:12, 24 April 2009
This is just here to put it here. It's not formatted or pretty or anything, or I might put it, uh, somewhere more accessable. I dunno. I made it some time ago on a whim, and it just kind of sat around for a while, and the more I look back on it the more it sort of sucks, but whatever.
It was mostly Martial Arts just to be accessable to everyone, not because it actually had a Martial Arts Style theme or anything. Ah well, anyway.

Strength of the Untrained
Cost: 1 mote
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Martial Arts: 1
Minimum Essence: 1
With this, the untrained may add +2 Attack and +1 Damage to any attack against an opponent trained in any fighting style, so long as the untrained is also using that style (melee weapons against Melee-trained opponents, et cetera).
Arms of the Peasantry
Cost: -
Duration: Permanent
Type: Passive
Minimum Martial Arts: 2
Minimum Essence: 1
Prerequisite Charms: Strength of the Untrained
Upon learning this charm, the untrained becomes versed in the art of weaponry. However, as they have had no formal training with true weapons, they begin to learn how to use anything as a weapon, even better than normal. Any improvised weapon (a chair, table leg, pen, et cetera) can be used normally, substituting Martial Arts dots for Melee; any actual weapon (Daiklaves, swords, axes, clubs, et cetera) however suffers a -2 Attack penalty when used.
Flight of the Gambler
Cost: -
Duration: Permanent
Type: Passive
Minimum Martial Arts: 2
Minimum Essence: 1
Prerequisite Charms: Strength of the Untrained
With this, the untrained may substitute their Martial Arts dots for Archery or Thrown, and use any such weapon normally. However, all bows function at a -1 Penalty, and normal throwing weapons are at -2. Improvised throwing weapons (rocks, pens, glasses, et cetera) are used at no penalty.
Defence of the Impovershed
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One Turn
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Arms of the Peasantry, Flight of the Gambler
Upon reaching this level of training, an untrained fighter may gain a Full Dodge or Full Parry pool once per turn, as desired. These pools function normally but do not allow for the addition of weapon defence.
Sparrow's Flight Stance
Cost: 3 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Defence of the Impovershed
Upon activating the Sparrow's Flight Stance and attempting to dodge or parry an attack, the untrained may immedietly move up to his Dexterity in yards in any direction away from his attacker, so long as the character could normally move in that direction.
Caber Tossing Stance
Cost: 2 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Defence of the Impovershed
Normally, huge objects are too large or unwieldly to throw well. However, upon activating this charm, the untrained may get such an improvised grip around any object that he can lift and throw objects as though he had two more Strength than he has. This extra strength applies to damage rolls when throwing objects only.
Swaying Mimic Form
Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Martial Arts: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Sparrow's Flight
Untrained fighters have no specific form with which to fight, and consequently, make use of a little bit of everything. This particularly befuddles other martial artists, penalizing them by the untrained's essence on every attack. However, it is only of marginal benefit to others, and thus penalizes other attacks by half of the untrained's essence only.
Intercept
Cost: 2 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 4
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Sparrow's Flight Stance, Caber Tossing Stance
While under the effects of Sparrow's Flight Stance, any time an opponent uses a hopping defence against the untrained they may throw themselves towards their opponent, so long as they have not moved more than half of the untrained's Strength in yards away, and continue the assault. If the target moves again, the untrained may pay an additional 2 motes to leap forward again.
Accurate as a Horseshoe
Cost: 3 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Caber Tossing Stance
While under the effects of Caber Tossing Stance, the untrained may make an especially accurate use of his improvised projectiles, gaining a bonus of +3 to Attack only. These dice do not count towards damage rolls, only towards actually hitting their target.
Men or Twigs
Cost: -
Duration: Passive
Type: Permanent
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Swaying Mimic Form, Intercept, Accurate as a Horseshoe
While under the effects of both Swaying Mimic Form and Sparrow's Flight Stance and immedietly after fully negating a melee attack via dodge or parry, the untrained may move the attacker up to a number of yards equal to the untrained's Strength in any direction regardless of normal restrictions on movement. When using this charm, the untrained may not move themselves via Sparrow's Flight Stance as well.
