There are a few snafus in the book though. There are a few editing errors here and there (eg Beam Klaives listed as Artifact 2). Not an issue really.

Ah, crap. I just checked my original draft and the error on the beam klave is my fault. The sidebar is wrong; the actual write-up is correct. They're Artifact 4. Mea Culpa.

(Burger_Slave) "There are a few small nits--mostly problems with editing (like Beam Klaves costing Artifact 4 in their text description, but only Artifact 2 on the weapons table), but for the most part, this is a wonderful, wonderful book."

This is my fault. I checked my drafts, and I accidentally put the cost wrong on the sidebar. The correct cost is Artifact 4.

Of course, energy-swords theoretically already exist in, say, Glorious Solar Saber. Heck, you could probably use the Savant & Sorceror artifact-creation rules to tie GSS or an equivalent to an artifact hilt and actually go around with a no-shit lightsaber no matter what your Exalt type.

there's somewhat of a difference between a weapon of solid energy, and a beam of energy so powerful it will cut through anything.
Beamklaivs are the latter, therefore I think they are silly. I don't like how lightsabers are treated in eps 1 & 2, they were much more mystical in the last three and less kung fu. kung fu lightsabers is as cheezy as it gets.
If I do use beamkalives in a game I run, it will be solid energy, like GSS, and possibly the elemental weapons talked about in the dawn castebook (and if they weren't solid, they are now).

First off, you're flat out WRONG about beam klaves being able to cut through anything. One of the things I deliberately did was to make them no better than normal daiklaves against magical materials. I didn't want to deal with folks slicing their way through other artifact weapons just because they think lightsabers are cooler. That's bullshit and powergaming. Magic weapons and armor are quite resistant. Non-magical stuff isn't, but then, if you're taking mortal weapons to a fight against a plasma blade, you're asking for trouble. So don't you dare go accusing me of something I went to great pains to avoid, thanks.
