Adopting the posture of the Black Knight, the martial artist becomes at once impossible to ignore and impossible to defeat, for the fight itself is enough to sustain her. Trumpets roar in celebration of conflict, dramatic music erupts as though from nowhere, and battle is joined. Whilst this Charm is active, she suffers no wound penalties, even for being reduced beyond Incapacitated. She will die only if reduced to Incapacitated and then dealt lethal or aggravated damage equal to or higher than her permanent Essence in a single blow; should the Charm end whilst she is Incapacitated, she will also perish. Furthermore, any actively hostile character wishing to flee from her must first make a successful Valor check (a Simple action) in order to be able to do so.

Only two concerns. One: The combination of Despairing Monarch’s Stratagem and Obligation Of The Righteous Ruler is a bit off, and lacks appropriate verbosity. The issue is that if one of these is active, the way it's written, the 'enemy' has to waste at least one attack per round on target X. What if the 'enemy' wasn't planning to attack at all? What if you're sitting at a bar, having coffee, and activate the charm? Does everyone immediately freeze in place, unable to take an action unless said action includes an attack on target X (you or the others, depending on charm used)? You might want to include text like this "If the character wishes to attack any target in this round, at least one attack must be made against XXYYY, otherwise no attacks may be made" or some such. More importantly, if activated together, these charms get even weirder. In that case, to attack anyone, you have to attack the Knight first. To attack the Knight, you have to attack someone else. If you can't, you lose your turn. There's the issue that if the Knight simply stays more than about 6 yards away from any other valid target, you can't hit both him and someone else (due to range/movement restrictions) and so thus lose your action, which precludes you (the way the charm is written) from even full dodging. After all, it's not that "If you choose to attack, you must attack the Knight." combined with "If you choose to attack, you must attack someone other than the Knight". Instead, it's "You must attack the Knight" and "You must attack someone other than the Knight" and "Or you lose your action". So not only is there a catch 22 on the order of who you can attack, but also the fact that if you're just having coffee, if you don't lash out like a sociopath, you lose all of your actions. These charms, the way they're written, are actually far more lethal as social charms, causing diplomats to attack at a whim, with no resistance roll (they must attack the Knight). What happens if an Eclipse uses this while in a room with some spirits and Fae, who must respect him? So yeah. These are a concern. - [[GregLink]]

Similarly, Adoration Of Worthiness also has no resistance roll of any kind, and steals an action. The way this is written, with no resistance roll, it automatically prevents an opponent from using multiple-action charms, or comboes containing them. A multi-action charm requires you to devote the actions gained from it to that type of action, so if you use an archery one, you can't spend an action talking. Since you can't use extra-action charms and split your die pool in the same turn, you can't use an action for talking then. Similarly, you can't full dodge while doing this either, as full dodge won't let you use a dice action to talk to them. Heck, you can't use Simple charms either when this is up. It affects all 'opponents' with an unlimited range, with no resistance roll (it works on a Deathlord!), can't be HGD'd (it's not an attack, by any standard) but prevents simple charms, extra-action charms, comboes using said charms, and full dodges, all with no effort. This prevent other Martial Artists from putting up their form charms (which are most often Simple), prevents others from engaging most scene-longs, et cetera. Very sneakily cheatery, as an Ess 4 charm with no pre-reqs. - [[GregLink]]

Conflict

History

Heavenly scholars attribute the creation of this Style to the musings of an elder Sidereal Exalt, after having witnessed the actions of the legendary Black Knight. Having took it upon himself to confront those who would not be confronted, the Black Knight travelled far and wide, appearing in even the most unlikely of places in order to challenge his targets. Eventually slain by a Dawn Caste’s blade, the Black Knight’s heritage and astonishing attitude still live on in this Style; in this way, he has achieved the immortality in conflict that he so desired.

This Style treats attacks with swords or daiklaves as unarmed attacks. It is incompatible with armour.

Adoration Of Worthiness
Cost: 8 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: One scene

Kings approached her;

Presenting herself as a mighty force of nature, the martial artist becomes the subject of covetous advances from all that regard her. Everyone aware of her and not actively allied with her must devote at least one action every round toward earning this kinship; casting an emotion-influencing spell fulfills this requirement.

Steel Silence Resolve

she said nothing.

Immersed in her violent purpose, the martial artist is blind and deaf to all other considerations. Whilst this Charm is in effect, the character may automatically succeed (with no extra successes) or fail (without botching) any given Virtue check she makes.

Despairing Monarch’s Stratagem
Cost: 8 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 4
Prereqs:

Kings moved to go by her;

The martial artist’s presence makes clear the futility of opposing her, and so her foes decide to strike elsewhere. Every opponent that is aware of the character must use at least one action each turn to attack something or someone other than her. Splitting dice pools or using Extra Action Charms may allow them to attack her also. Casting a targeted spell is considered an attack for the purposes of this Charm.

Bridge Spanning Aegis
Cost: 12 motes
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 5
Prereqs: Despairing Monarch’s Stratagem

“None shall pass,” she said.

The martial artist’s domain over strife extends beyond her location; any battle she witnesses is her battle. For the remainder of the scene, she is able to make an unarmed parry against any attack she is aware of, regardless of where the it is aimed or whether she can reach it, with a base pool equal to her Martial Arts. This Charm has no effect on attacks that are unparriable, or that have no physical component.

Obligation Of The Righteous Ruler
Cost: 8 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 4
Prereqs:

Kings bade her away;

The martial artist becomes clear as a threat, forcing her foes to confront her. All opponents aware of her must devote at least one action to attacking her; if they are out of range or otherwise unable to do so, the action is wasted instead. Splitting dice pools or using Extra Action Charms may allow them to target others also. Casting a targeted spell is considered an attack for the purposes of this Charm.

Wound Of Civility And Civilisations
Cost: 12 motes
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 5
Prereqs: Obligation Of The Righteous Ruler

“I move for no man,” she said.

The martial artist makes clear her intent to strike down all. Her blows, fueled by Essence, do the same. Every attack she makes whilst this Charm is in effect is rolled for only once, but applied to any target she wishes, regardless of whether she can reach them. Each target may defend themselves normally. This Charm does not allow a character to strike immaterial foes.

Black Knight Of Triumph Form
Cost: 8 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Min. Martial Arts: 6
Min. Essence: 6
Prereqs: Bridge Spanning Aegis, Wound Of Civility And Civilisations

“So be it!” said they, and battle was joined.

Adopting the posture of the Black Knight, the martial artist becomes at once impossible to ignore and impossible to defeat, for the fight itself is enough to sustain her. Trumpets roar in celebration of conflict, and battle is joined. Whilst this Charm is active, she suffers no wound penalties, even for being reduced beyond Incapacitated. Furthermore, anyone wishing to flee her must first make a successful Valor check (a Simple action) in order to be able to do so.
