First ancient Ordinati were voice- and image-recording artifacts able to categorise and catalogue stored records. Because of their utility, most savants of Creation had one of these. In time, new functions were added to these devices, transforming they into fully functional personal assistants. The most important improvement was the ability to communicate with other Ordinati. Although some savants didn't like the idea of sharing knowledge freely, most understood the importance of lore exchange, and soon all Ordinati were united by common standards of data transfer. Dragon lines were used as a medium for communication, and that made manses and demesnes perfect points to locate massive lore storages (named Hubs) in. As time passed, new forms of communication appeared out of comments for existing records - lengthy discussions on all sorts of matters conducted in a remote manner in manse-located storages, changing them from virtual libraries to scientific activity centers.
