Health
Health follows the new World of Darkness rules slightly.
- Extras have 2 health levels.
- All Characters have a number of health levels equal to triple their permanent Essence + Brawn + Might (if they have any).
- The Ox-Body Technique Talent grants additional health levels.
- The Large Merit increases the multiplier (to Essence, Brawn and Might) to four. The Small Merit or Flaw subtract decreases it to two.
- For example, a Dragon-Blooded with Essence, Brawn and Might 2 with the Ox-Body Talent will normally have 18 health levels.
- Were she Small, her health levels would be reduced to 12.
- Were she Large, her health levels would be increased to 24.
Damage is recorded in health level boxes normally - a slash ( \ ) for Bashing, a plus ( + ) for Lethal, and an asterisk ( * ) for Aggravated.
Once all health levels are filled, the Character falls unconcious, and further damage of the same type begins to add the next level.
- Further Bashing damage converts Bashing wounds into Lethal wounds, one for one. Two levels of Bashing damage convert Lethal damage to Aggravated.
- Further Lethal damage converts Lethal wounds into Aggravated wounds, one for one. One level of Lethal damage converts two of Bashing into Lethal.
- Further Aggravated damage, if the victim is still alive, has no increased effect on Bashing wounds, merely overwriting them. One level of Aggravated damage converts two of Lethal damage into Aggravated.
- Extras die if they suffer a single Aggravated wound.
- Characters add 1 to all difficulties when over half of their wound boxes are filled.
- Once a character's health levels are completely filled out, they are unconscious.
- Once an Extra suffers a level of Lethal damage when all their health levels are Lethal wounds, they are dead.
- Once a Character suffers a level of Aggravated damage when all their health levels are Aggravated wounds, they are dead.
- UnExalted Characters heal one Aggravated wound per month, one Lethal wound per week, and one Bashing wound per day of rest.
- Exalted Characters heal one Aggravated wound per week, one Lethal wound per day, and one Bashing wound per hour.
- The Natural ability lets Characters heal their score in their Natural ability over these given times, instead of one.
- Exalted do not need to rest to heal.
- Exalted can recover from broken or crushed limbs, or similar maiming short of significant amputation (more than a fingertip), given time.
- The Body-Mending Meditation Talent speeds up healing.
This ends up with some tougher characters having a lot of health levels. However, damage is automatic - not rolled, so the numbers are similar.
