Baleful Prospects for (House)
Cost: 1 mote Duration: Instant Type: Simple Min Investigation: 2 Min Essence: 1 Prereqs: None
The Five Lords offer the masters of this Charm to sense the growing power of their domains. 1 mote is automatically spent by the Storyteller (generally from Personal Essence) when a situation arises that involves the House this Charm was purchased for. Alternately, the character can activate the Charm and hope the Lord in question is feeling benevolent.
- Prospects for Souls informs of events relating to ghosts and creatures of the Underworld such as the Barghest and other ghostly creatures. Only dead things like Hekatonhire and Malfeans are excluded from this sign.
- Prospects for Shadows warns of impending murder, life-threatening events and malevolency that will shortly occur.
- Prospects for Madness is the most random and unpredictable Charm. Its messages are vague urgings and protents that inform of the acts of madness or the Wyld, impending attacks of the Fae or Nephwracks.
- Prospects of Mystery manifest in the form of urges to be at a place or time when something will be lost forever. This almost mimics the effects of Auspicious Prospects for Endings, though it also informs of passings into Lethe and Oblivion. New Deathknights being born create a sharp pain in anyone with this Charm, as does their death. Deathlords being born or destroyed might well be fatal or debilitating.
- Prospects of Death informs of illness, plague, mass murder and the formation of Shadowlands. Any manifestion of death and doom is the purview of this Charm.
Since the Underworld has its own Astrology and Fate, these Charms function as described only in the Underworld.
