− | I am in general in favor of the Obvious keyword. I think that, yes, it implies that magic is obviously being used - and that it shouldn't be up to the charm description to tell us exactly how, because that would limit stuntage. In the case of these charms, I would thus allow and encourage players to stunt the unique ways their characters use Essence obviously (writing in the air, lessons that repeat themselves in students' dreams, etc.) to enhance the teaching process. Exalted is all about creating your own cool descriptions, so if you view Obvious as a limitation, good! Work around and with that limitation, because it will improve the product to do so. - | + | I am in general in favor of the Obvious keyword. Harmonious Academic Methodology. Legendary Scholar Curriculum. Both - Obvious.
What's up with that? How the heck is a five-hour lesson per week obvious? Are you dripping with Essence? Glowing with a holy Mandala? Or is it merely that that nasty inconsistency of "Well, if it's too good to be true, it's got to be Obvious" coming into play? The Obvious keyword denotes when "Observers can tell when the Exalt is using a charm, and they have a rough idea of its effects." I can't even really get a good grasp on how this applies to these charms. To me, they're internal charms, supplementing the Exalt's ability to create a curriculum and instruct with it. They don't seem to actually do anything to the target learners, other than help them learn - a fully mundane thing.
Anyway, enough ranting. I'm proposing that the Obvious Keyword be removed from these charms.

I am in general in favor of the Obvious keyword. - IanPrice
